I don't usually post loads of food pics. 
But tonight I am making an exception.

Why?

As much as I see food as fuel I also like to experience great food too.. Great food is easy to make 
I have been untangling myself from the reasons and emotions why I would eat things that do not serve me or honour my body. 
It has been a long process, it started when we were told we couldn't have kids. I didn't accept that, and looked for the truth and I found it... Health and nutrition. Understanding what it really is.

Do I eat the occasional takeaway or ice cream? Yes. 
However I don't let my palate control me, I control it.

It's the hardest thing you can master.

It's part of taking self sovereignty over the self.

Does that mean I eat boring food? Nope.

It means I don't become a slave to it.

Tonight is steak night, so I jazzed it up a bit.

Who says healthy food can't look and taste fantastic?

Here's how it went down... Sirloin steak, in a herb seasoning
Roasted red peppers in a lemon and herb dressing
Roasted asparagus with balsamic vinegar
Avocado
Leaves
A few chips, oven roasted from locally sourced potatoes
A chipotle dressing.

It tasted even better than it looked.

I think my Joy liked it too judging by how far she ate it

This was a grind, supetsetted low rep box squats with these, high rep goblet squats.

Add in super settled low rep explosive BB jump squats and front squats and you know it's gonna make you work.

Keeping the workrate moderate to high, only resting when the round is done. 
Smoked after 5 rounds.

The key is to pick a weight that is challenging and keeping the heart rate high without compromising the technique.

Discipline and consistency is key, even when you don't feel like it. Get it done.

A bulletproof Dad doesn't make excuses, he steps up.

He does what other don't, he makes sure he is mentally and physically prepared for the challenges before him, both in the external world and especially in his inner world.

No time to sleep enough
No time just to be with themselves

I am too busy 
I cannot afford it
It's too hard
I don't like exercise

In reality they are saying that they have no time to value or honour themselves enough.

It's not about a lack of will power or motivation.

It's about perception

Going from I haven't got time to move or I don't like exercise to... Creating time and space to invest in your health for YOU.

It's about taking care of yourself to love yourself enough to put you first.

If you don't like exercise then I'll have you consider that it goes much deeper?

It's never about time, just incorrect priority.

Looking after yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually is vital.

So few guys do that, they are out of balance, pulled by external forces.

There are times when you will be tested

And in those times you simply see what is true, what is being reflected back at you from the outside world that is mirroring your inner world.

That is where you get to go... Inside yourself, through feeling to see what story is being exposed and how to dissolve it.

We get to choose in the moment what we believe and whether it serves us.

If you are short on time picking a handful of exercises that cover most of not all of the primary movement patterns and wrapping then into an AMRAP ( as many rounds as possible) for time is a great way to get your training in.

In a world of distraction we have never felt so tired.

So many things to do (we think)

So little time to do them.

For some reason we think life is about doing everything now

No wonder we always feel knackered!

Expending so much energy on so many pointless things.

Things we are convinced are important, by others or ourselves.

The thing is. 
Time is finite.

Energy is finite.

We only have so much, but we spend so much time wasting it.

For me it was procrastination in my business when all I needed to do is take one step.

I kept trying to do ALL of the things, All of the time. 
No wonder I was exhausted mentally and physically. 
Overthinking is a monster energy drain.

But it doesn't stop there.

So many people waste time and energy on so many things... Eating the wrong foods.

Moving in pain.

Not listening to your body.

Doing things you hate.

Spending time with people you don't like.

Listening to people who you don't agree with.

Worrying about what other people 'might' be thinking

Avoiding doing something so wasting energy on some other distraction

for what?

Where are you putting up with things that bleed your energy?

Where are you bleeding energy on things you hate?

where could you engage in activities that you love to do instead of wasting energy focusing on things you don't?

Don't waste time, Embrace time

As the great strength and conditioning coach Dan John says. If you train 5 days a week, one session will be awesome, one will be shit and the other three will be somewhere in between.

Today I could say that this was the shit session.

But it wasn't. It was the build up to it that was shit, allowing stuff in my head to influence how I felt and boy did I not want to train.

I almost went home and I was ok with that, but you know what? I didn't.

Because there was nothing stopping me but some bullshit story.

So I broke down the session into small bite size chunks.

Foam roller
Mobility
Jump rope
Bodyweight squats
kB swings.

Each time the urge was just leave.

But I didn't, I took the next small step that felt good... Sumo Deadlifts
Bulgarian split squats
Good mornings
Front squats
Core

I felt great afterwards.

I counted the win

Sometimes shit just comes up

It's whether you have the discipline to lean in and recognise what the real story is and take action

Something more for you to think about today... So many people focus on what they don't want. 
They complain and think about it so much, over and over in their head that THEY create a reality where the things they hate happen.

They bring it on themselves without being aware of it. 
When the brain perceives incongruence it will look to make everything match up.

It will go out of its way to prove your beliefs true, even if consciously you want something else.

So if you keep filling your mind with doubt, fear, all the things you do not want, you will get more of that.

So it becomes a conscious choice.

To start focusing on what you do want.

To think, say and do what you do want. 
Fill your mind with the positivity you want and take repeated, consistent action and that will become much more likely.

Or keep dwelling on the negatives and you'll be more likely to take the actions that make reality match with those thoughts.

Awareness precedes change. 
Be aware of these A.N.T.S (automatic negative thoughts). the only way to change them is to consciously make the effort to focus on what you do want... every single day!

Change your thought, Then SAY what you DO want, ACT on it then see how you FEEL.

Fill your day with how you want it to be.

Take control or someone or something will control it for you.

That is the importance of planning your day and creating a daily routine. 
By setting up your day from the moment you open your eyes sets your day up for success.

Take time to energise yourself first. 
By putting yourself first, you allow that flow to energise everything you do.

To realise your value and worth, so that you can then use it to create success in your day.

This was my 2nd training session today and #122 for 2018.

It's possible because I fill my day positively. And allow myself time to be in the moment.
