True story #bartlayton#americananimals#theimposter#moviedirector 🎬🎥

Cliff Roquemore left a mark on everyone’s life he touched. He gave us a sense of family that few will ever understand. He welcomed me and all my mess. Confided in me and taught me things I didn’t want to know and brought out skills I didn’t know I had. So when we say BLAH BLAH BLAH some may think it is disrespectful but for us, his children, his family, friends, comrades and even a few fans.....it is respect.... we all doing good Cliff walking in our divine light yup that SPOTLIGHT. Directing with that ROQUEMORE THIRD EYE, writing the scripts of life and producing the journey like we hit the LOTTO.....because NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN A ROQUEMORE. We get it from you and we will continue to make you proud..... #legacy only because u made us proud every day.... I miss u so much and no one will ever understand the bond....but blah blah blah......I love u man #theimposter#familyfirst#biff#cliffroquemore
// THE IMPOSTER //
As we read some books tonight I had a beautiful chat with the girls about “The Imposter” that lives in our head. Well that’s what I call it. I asked them if they had a voice in their head that told them things that weren’t true. They said yes and preceded to tell me that their voice tells them “they are dumb, ugly, nobody liked them. “ Ouch. So young and already these things are creeping in.. knowing and working with many adults and children I see the impact that these types of thoughts can have over a long period of time. We talked about how I had them too and I told them some of mine. They laughed and said “Haha Mum they aren’t true!” Exactly my point. We then talked about catching the imposter when it tries to “trick” us and to change the negative thought into a positive one. We talked about how EVERYONE at times has these thoughts and that we do not have to believe them. We made a deal that if they have a day where the imposter won’t be quiet, that we would talk about it at night and chat about why we thought it was loud that day. The Imposter (2012)
7 out of 10
I haven't watched many documentaries, in fact I can't remember any that I've seen, but after seeing American Animals, which I loved, I wanted to see more of what director Bart Layton has done. I have to say I liked AA much better but Imposter was still good. The story was interesting. It seems hard to imagine the circumstances that unfolded in this tale, but when you remember how strange human nature is and how distorted things can be when you want so badly to believe something, it makes sense. The whole thing seems impossible, but here we are. Truth really is stranger than fiction.

🎬 The Imposter
Summary: A Texas child goes missing and ‘shows up’ again three years later. The Imposter is the story of French conman Frederic Bourdin and how he tricked one family into believing he was their missing child. But even then, things are not as they seem... ———
Review: This #truecrime documentary has so many shocking twists and turns it’s definitely worth a watch. It’s gripping throughout and a film you’ll find yourself thinking about years later ‘wow, remember how that happened?!’. Have you seen it? What did you think? NO SPOILERS please! ————
This is a joke I made up many many years ago and I remembered it today because I listened to this song. Happy belated Elvis Costello! (Sound required) #theimposter#lyingliontrion#elviscostello @elviscostello
Had the pleasure of seeing a preview of this amazing new film “American Animals” from the same director that brought us documentary “The Imposter”. It’s just as good, if not better! Never seen anything like it. Watch it 🇺🇸🐿🦍🐍’s #americananimals#theimposter#bfi#2018
#TheImposter#2012#BartLayton#FrédérickBourdin#masterpiece I have no idea why I had not posted about this film before. Perhaps it is because I don’t generally write about documentaries here. “The Imposter” definitely deserves special attention though, as it is almost certainly my favorite documentary feature of all time. This true story of a French adult who successfully (for a time) impersonated a missing child from Texas is just so incredible, I couldn’t take me eyes off the screen. The way the story unfolds is as fascinating as it is unpredictable. The narrative framing is simply brilliant, forcing the audience to be taken in by the imposter, even as we sit watching incredulously. And the unanswered questions “The Imposter” leaves behind are haunting. This film is an absolute masterpiece.
Nicholas Barclay disappeared in 1994. In 1997, American law enforcement officials receive a call from a youth shelter in Spain. They are told that a boy who has been missing for three years was found, was American, and had managed to escape from a child sex ring operation.
Nicholas' sister flies out to Spain, is convinced that it is actually him, and takes him home to Texas. Nicholas' mother 'believed' (cough not cough) that the boy was her son, though many were skeptical. Nicholas had blonde hair and blue eyes, this boy had brown hair and brown eyes, and had a distinct French accent. He claimed that the people in charge of the sex ring had altered his appearance, and that the accent was because he had not been allowed to speak English.
In 1998, they managed to get the boy's fingerprints and blood and compared those to Nicholas Barclay. The boy was actually a 23 year old French citizen named Frederic Pierre Bourdin. He had impersonated multiple missing children all across Europe, and was wanted by the police.
He confessed, but then accused the family of having something to do with the child's disappearance. Why else would they have accepted that he was actually Nicholas, when he was not remotely like him? Why would they accept his ridiculous story without question? Though he is a habitual liar, and a con-man, he raised some interesting points.
The mother refused to give blood samples to aid the investigation because "she knew it was her son". That's pretty suspicious. Why would you be reluctant to give a blood sample to prove that your son is your son, unless you knew that he wasn't?
"I no longer saw them as a grieving, victimised family. I saw them as a very questionable family. There'd be no reason for them to accept a stranger into their lives, unless there was something to hide. That would be the only reason. Something was being hidden and I didn't know what that was."
It turns out that the police would be called 2 - 3 times a month because the arguments in the Barclay household would get that heated and extreme. (Continued in comments)
We're jumping into our second documentary of our series, 2012's The Imposter. This twist-filled, complicated story of a French con man pulling the ultimate game, and the family that bizarrely embraces him, is one heck of a ride. We're not sure who to believe in this story, and neither will you once we're done.
Then, we review the newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and The Wasp. It's not surprising that it's funny (I mean, it's Paul Rudd), but it is surprising just how good this movie was. We can recommend shoveling more of your money to Marvel for this one... #movies#moviepodcast#moviereviews#podcast#theimposter#antmanandthewasp#podernfamily
