This tall dresser by Lauren of @roseandbeefurniture caught our eye. (Did you see what we did there? 😉)
She used the “vintage chalkboard” mix of 2 parts Artissimo to 3 parts Boxwood. That bespoke combination is brought to you by Allison of @thegoldensycamore 💙💚 We love everything about it right down to its pretty natural legs.
When you publish a project on your blog and then forget to insta that thing for a week! 🙈 #momlife Lol! This beautiful dresser makeover I did for my cousin is on the blog now (and has been for a week! 🤣!). Link in profile! Hope you guys are having an amazing FRI-YAY!!! 😘
So grateful to get a little coffee date in with my bestie today! It's hard to see each other when we live almost 3 hours apart, but it just so happened that she was close by today. So the kids and I met her for a mid-morning coffee! Well, we drank the coffee, the kids played with toys! It was so good to catch up and talk about life with my home girl. After all that happened with Bailey and then the stress of a new puppy...plus trying to get back to "work" these past couple weeks, I definitely needed this today. Feeling like I can get back on track now! Everything's going to be okay! ❤️
Okay guys, I promise I'll stop posting only puppy pics soon. I AM currently working on a project that I'll be done with soon, so you'll get a break! But until then, Charlie wanted to say hi again. 🐶 He's seriously such a great pup! I'm so grateful we brought him into our lives.
Did you notice we got a new puppy?! Ha! I know...it's kind of all I post about lately, but Charlie is such a huge part of our lives already! I wrote a blog post today (link in profile) about how different our lives are with the passing of Bailey and the addition of Charlie. We are trying to find a new normal amongst all the chaos. It's not easy, but we're embracing it!
You guys! We got a puppy! Meet Charlie, our new Airedale Terrier! We miss Bailey so much and could NEVER replace her...but we were so lonely without a dog in the house! Charlie is 14 weeks old and after a mere 24 hours of being his forever family, we're already in love! I can't wait to share his journey with you!
As a home decor blogger, sometimes having pets drive me crazy. Vacuuming multiple times a week, the daily wear and tear they take on our our home making it less and less "perfect" by the day, knowing you can never have white anything because they'll dirty it up in seconds. 🙅🏼😂 It can lead you to anxiety, friends! But I've learned that all of that doesn't matter in the end. I used to let it bother me, but the love of those pets...the many ways that ADD so much to our lives...that's what really matters. As we had to say goodbye to one of my best (pet) friends this week, I'm reminded that it's all just "stuff" anyway. That bond is so much more important!
I FINALLY wrote a new blog post...after a 4 month break! It feels so good to get my reasoning for taking such a long break out in the open. Like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders. You can read all about my blogging break and my plans for the future on the blog! Link in BIO. (Side note: isn't my cat so handsome?! 😻)
Still so in love with this drop center/mini mudroom/crap catcher my hubby made for our entryway this spring. It's so nice to have a place to hang a couple things instead of having to drop them on the entryway floor. Small house organization solutions for the win! 🙌🏼
I've been thinking a lot about getting back into blogging. There are a lot of factors that led me to take a break, but I think the biggest one was perfectionism. Blogging was a great creative outlet at first, but it eventually fed right into my perfectionism. I constantly felt terrified to take photos of projects because I was afraid they wouldn't be good enough. Would I style the shoot well enough? Would my idea/ design be liked? Would the photos themselves be up-to-par with all the talent around me? These were questions constantly running through my mind each time I worked on a new project/post. Honestly, I'm a little scared to throw myself back into that world. But I've done a lot of work on my "insides" over the past several months and I do CRAVE that creative outlet again. So, maybe I take a leap of faith and try it out again?? But this time, don't lose myself in the fear of not being good enough. Know that I'm alright whether I get one "like" or one thousand. Decide that this journey is for myself and no one else this time. I might need to write this all down and remind myself if I start going down the wrong path again , but I think I'm ready to try this out! 💕
I'm so excited about how these window panes from @featherandbirch turned out! Heidi made them and then I painted them with @mmsmilkpaint to get a perfectly chippy look! I think I'm in love!! 😍😍😍 (See my previous post for the "before" pic.)
I've been running around all day and finally got a chance to sit down and share this vintage Ethan Allen chair makeover! More details of this beauty on the blog! PS - it will be heading to @thefoundcottage this weekend for sale!
On the blog...my fall entry decor and why I love this quote so much! In learning to accept myself, I'm also learning to accept my "little house". And in acceptance, I'm finding so much more joy! Read more about my love for my small house on my blog - link in my profile --> @thegoldensycamore
I NEVER share my front porch (or stoop, as I like to call it) anywhere on social media, because I've always kind of struggled with the exterior of our house. It's pretty flat and boring and uninspiring. I really never decorate it, either, for this reason. Well, this year I finally put a little effort into my outdoor fall decor and I'm kind of loving it! I know...my house isn't some big, beautiful show house, but I love this place. Even with all its quirks...it's home. It's where we make our memories. That's the part that really matters anyway, right?!
Raise your hand if you're as obsessed with plaid as I am! 🙌🏼 It's just so cozy, right?! So, obviously I had to do a little fall furniture makeover using my favorite pattern! More details are on the blog now! (Link in BIO)
I finally got smart moved the colors to the table. This way they're out and ready to use AND the kids can now color on the table! It's covered with kraft paper now, so I don't have to keep cleaning up after them! Just have to change the paper. Easy peasy, my friends! PS - More details about my spring dining room are on the blog. (Link in BIO)
Winter decor update! It feels good to decorate after having Christmas decor up for almost 2 months! You might notice my corner cabinet is gone and the secretary is in its place. It was time to switch things up...and I'm honestly really liking it! What do you think about the change? PS - more details and pics on the blog - link in my BIO! 😘 #ontheblog#thegoldensycamore#farmhousestyle#winterdecor
Do you love cotton?! So do I! More stems arrived TODAY at @thefoundcottage and I've heard they're already half gone! You'd better hurry if you want to get your hands on what's left! I guess I'd better order more, too. I can't keep up with you guys! #cotton#farmhousestyle#thegoldensycamore
I didn't know working at @thefoundcottage was gonna make me feel this way! Who knew it would bring me so much joy...among other feelings! Come read how my first "shift" went today and how it's already changed me! Link in BIO. #ontheblog#TheFoundCottage#thegoldensycamore
If you're local to West Michigan, the wait is over! I finally have @mmsmilkpaint back in stock...and at a new location - @thefoundcottage! I'll be at the shop this morning for a couple hours, so if you have questions...or just wanna hang out!...come see me! #mmsmilkpaint#iheartmilkpaint#TheFoundCottage#thegoldensycamore
My 9 most "liked" insta pics from the past year! It's been a great year, but to be honest, I feel like I've been off my game blog/business-wise. I'm so ready to turn that around in 2016! I'm already looking ahead to next year with new ideas, prospects, and projects on the horizon! I'm ready for an amazing year! Are you?! #thegoldensycamore#yearinreview2015#top9
A little sneak peek at my daughter's room. It's s.l.o.w.l.y coming along! (PS - this super easy wall art will be on the blog when I finally sit down to write about it! 😉) #cottagestyle#bedroom#thegoldensycamore
A white washed top and perfectly mint body! I can't even tell you guys how much I love @mmsmilkpaint! I love using it to give my furniture pieces an authentically aged look. More on this gorgeous furniture makeover on the blog - click the link in my BIO.
It's done! And I couldn't be happier with it! Our daughter's closet door had a little run-in with a dog a couple months ago, but it turned into the perfect opportunity for us to add some personality to it! I'm so happy with how it turned out. Now to tackle the rest of the doors! I might be looney by the time this is over! 😜
This vintage Ethan Allen sofa has been through a lot of changes, but this one is my favorite! Doesn't it just look like the perfect place to snuggle up for a crisp fall afternoon nap?! Click the link in my BIO for the full before and after story...and more pictures!
Can you even stand how cool this lamp is? My super-talented hubby made it! We sold the two he made at the @paintedfarmgirl flea market, but we're now taking custom orders if you're interested in one. Check out the link in my BIO for more details!
Makes me a little sad just looking at this picture! Why? Because this piece doesn't exist anymore! It was so beautiful, wasn't it? Read the whole story behind my (almost) tears by clicking the link in my BIO. Thankfully this story has a happy ending!
What's that?! A new post on the blog?! Yep! I'm spilling all the details of my very first time as a vendor at the @paintedfarmgirl flea market...complete with lessons I learned and, of course, pictures of my booth and all the goodies I've been working on for the past month! Click the link in my BIO to check it out!
Throwback Thursday to last year when I did a huge round up on the blog of fall chalkboards! I love fall and I love chalkboards...don't you?! Click the link in my BIO to find the perfect chalkboard idea for your fall decor! 🍁🍂
My rockstar husband made this cool copper lamp (and another one just like it) for my booth at the @paintedfarmgirlflea on Sept 26! I can't wait to get everything set up! It's all starting to come together!
So excited to be bringing this cool Ethan Allen love seat to the @paintedfarmgirlflea on the 26th! Getting lots done in the next couple weeks in preparation...and my house is filling up with furniture pieces! It looks like a storefront in here! Lol!
A little feminine detail I added to my daughter's curtains.
DESIGN TIP: Add small details to store-bought items to give rooms a more personalized feel. You can have a one-of-a-kind look without breaking the bank!

Flashback Friday! I still love this distressed potting bench I painted last year. It's another one of my favorite furniture projects. It distressed and chipped so perfectly - just like it was meant to be! I love when that happens and the piece just works with you! 😀 See more pics by clicking the link in my bio!
Are there things on your ever-growing to-do list that just won't go away? You keep adding to the list, but somehow find a way to push those few projects to the side? Well, tonight I'm encouraging you to make a short list for tomorrow morning (5 things at most) and only work on those items until they're done. It will take determination and focus, but you'll feel a huge sense of accomplishment once those items are finally checked off your list. And you won't have that constant weight on your shoulders knowing something has to get done.
I'm talking to myself here, too, okay?! We're in this together. Let's lighten our load and get something done tomorrow!
Here are the things on my list for tomorrow...
1. Update project gallery on my blog
2. Make dentist appt for myself and my daughter (yuck!)
3. Hem my other daughter's curtains
Double tap if you're in! Make that list and get on it first thing tomorrow! Share your list in the comments below, if you'd like! Let's do this! 👊💪
This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now. I feel like I'm being pulled in so many directions and therefore losing my focus. There are so many things I want to be successful at and for some reason, I keep adding to the list. I'm doing my best to really hone in on what's important to me right now and work on those things first. Doesn't mean I can't focus on other areas later on, but maybe it's time to get a couple things under control before I add more back onto my plate. Easier said than done. I'm really good at starting a bunch of stuff and then fizzling out. I don't want to do that anymore. It's time to get real with my priorities and get focused!
I love my daughter's room...when it's clean! 😉 Her room was a fun makeover because I was able to get away with using brighter colors while still keeping a soft, cottage feel to the decor. Click the link in my bio to see more pictures of the transformation!
