Enjoying the natural beauty of this island, along with the cultural and historical beauty.
You can barely see the temple set up on top of this cliff, and you’re not even permitted to go inside the temple once you trek up the hill and the stairs to get there. But the trail of monkeys on the way, the gorgeous cliff view, and the temple gardens make it it 100% worth the visit!
‘Uluwatu’ originated from 2 words ‘Ulu’ meaning land’s end, and ‘Watu’ meaning rock, together meaning ‘rock at the edge of land.’ The legendary sage, Dang Hyannis Nirartha often prayed and meditated here and chose to build this temple here because of its holy energy. It has been said that this was the last te@ole he built before achieving enlightenment (“moksa”) and disappearing in front of everyone’s eyes.
Can we just talk for a minute about Bruges at Christmas time?
It’s literally like walking in to a festive fairytale. And although it was cold (freezing) I just didn’t want that weekend to end.
I feel like Belgium probably doesn’t get talked about enough, yet it’s amazingly beautiful and the people are so friendly. If it isn’t on your travel bucket list already, whack it on there, pronto.
Today and just the past few weeks have been rough. If I’m completely honest, the second half of this year has been ROUGH. Sometimes it just hits you harder than others, and today was a hard day. •
It’s not easy trying to be positive. It’s not easy accepting change. It’s not easy pretending to be okay all the time. •
But I’m trying. I made it through today, and I’ll try again tomorrow. It’s taken a long time, but I’ve finally learned that it’s okay to not be okay.
i choose vulnerability.
allowing this journey.
letting life guide me.
even though i don’t know
where it will lead me.
this trip couldn’t have come at a
more perfect moment in my life.
WORD OF THE YEAR
Each year I select a word of the year, and I challenge everyone I know to do this same thing. The purpose of the word of the year is to give you something to focus on for that year.
For 2018, my word was dream. I had become stagnant in dreaming and goal setting and I knew I needed to be intentional about dreaming some new dreams and setting new goals. Here I am at the end of 2018 with fresh vision and direction, all because I set aside this year to dream.
Now it’s time to ask the Lord for another word for another year, and I am so excited to see what it is and to see what the next year holds.
What are you needing in 2019?
What is God saying about the next year for you?
» What is it about this city that makes you both dream bigger and stop making excuses as to why you can’t or shouldn’t do something? I don't really have an answer, but I’m really digging this new drive I have to make things happen. Thanks for being exactly what I didn’t know I needed, NYC 🙌🏼
🖼 Flashback to that time we went to the LOUVRE in PARIS last fall — the largest art museum in the world!! 😭😍✨ • Take me back to all the yummy coffee, delicious croissants, art, books, history, & beauty of Paris! Oh, the magic!! 😭✨🌳💜🇫🇷 💫
*(📸: We usually never take photos of the art in museums, Dan especially doesn’t do it, but I made an exception here ‘cause — LOUVRE! And convinced Dan to take one of me!) 😆🖼💜✨ ••• #travelcommunity#sparklesofhappy#louvremuseum#livefullyalive
A little house in northern Iceland. // If you could live ANYWHERE in the world where would you go!?⠀
A little background on us…. When Jeff and I decided to move from Nashville and were deciding where to go, I made a spreadsheet with things we were looking for in a new location. I’m not kidding and if you know me this won’t surprise you at all. Some of the things on that list… international airport nearby, beautiful outdoors/scenery with outdoorsy activities, a city nearby where Jeff could play music, more sunshine than Nashville, gets all seasons of weather, and more. We considered moving international but knew that would essentially mean losing touch with family and friends. This is how we wound up outside Denver. A lot of people didn’t understand why we’d leave Nashville but we understood why. Doing things that are different isn’t easy but it’s been worth it.

On my way to 🌴 Palm Springs 🌴 for the weekend! ⠀
Is this a romantic getaway?! Nope.⠀
A fun girls weekend?! Nope.⠀
A hosted trip you were invited to?! Nope.⠀
Now that you are all out of guesses, I'll just tell you.⠀
I'm spending the weekend solo holed up in a beautiful hotel a few hours away from home so I can dream and plan for the year ahead. ⠀
It is such an important part of my process, and I find it helpful to get out of my everyday environment and eliminate all distractions (no 📱 , 💁🏻♂️, 📺,or 🐶 )⠀
Does anyone else do this?!!⠀

Yesterday was a very special day for me. Josh and I did our first bit of back country skiing!! Thimble Peak in Kirkwood will forever hold a special place in my heart.
We’ve always been a bit of adventure junkies, white water rafting the Zambezi river, Devils Pool in Zimbabwe, we love tree skiing, etc. But there’s something about looking down steep pitches that’s always unnerved me. Physically I know I can tackle it. But I have this unfounded anxiety that stems from not being able to feel my boundaries when staring down a steep sheet of complete whiteness - and like if I fall, I may just never stop tumbling down the mountain. (May just be me 😅)
BUT with a lot of deep breaths and my good luck charm - singing Brittney Spears “Hit Me Baby One More time” - on repeat in my head, (idk it calms me down 😂) I told those anxieties that they weren’t going to make my decisions for me. And just like I knew it would be... IT WAS AWESOME!! So so so fun being able to make our own lines!!!! And what an accomplished feeling you have at the end.
I wish it was as simple as tackling your anxieties once and them forever disappearing - but it’s a daily process of faith and choosing your courage over those fears that creep into your mind. Day by day, little by little.
So cheers to many more of these off piste adventures in the future, Brittney Spears for saving me more than once, and continuing to push ourselves mentally and physically to be better athletes and skiers.
Hi! I’m Shauna.
I’m... recently obsessed with @madewell. Just finished the Netflix series OA (so. good.). Prefers Dunkin over Starbucks. Dreams big. Loves cooking and entertaining. Passionate about telling stories through #filmphotography . Winks at people subconsciously. Called to teach and encourage. Always passport ready and desires to see the world. Loves Jesus. Vegetarian. Young at heart. Inspired by people. Salty over sweet. Has a thick southern accent. Runs on coffee. Deep thinker. Dog lover. Will say anything to stop or prevent awkward silence.
Now it’s your turn— tell me something fun or interesting about YOU! 📷: @athomas_photography #fridayintroductions
No one expected us to become such close friends. But I’m so grateful we met at Clyde’s in Georgetown and went to Doi Moi on International Women’s Day and lied to get on the roof of a museum at March for our Lives and were neighbors in the same building during this special era.
We grew close because we both say out loud what everyone else in thinking, love the drama, and believe we’ll have the biggest futures. And for that reason, we can look at each other and crack up laughing because we both know what the other one is thinking.
@yas.carter, you are strong, confident, creative, and you validate the loudest parts of me just by being yourself. You will become the boss we all read about in Forbes someday. I love you + can’t wait to be stuck in L.A. traffic with you so soon! 💕

After limited driving capabilities during Portland’s snowstorm 2 winters ago, I was ECSTATIC to finally have a Jeep.
1st weekend came ‘round and Josh and I decided to go on an adventure and do “Jeep things” = take our Jeep to the mountain!
And then this happened. FOR 6 HOURS.
Our chain-less, stock model Jeep could not get through a snow pass and we were stuck in about 2+ feet of snow and no reception. Equipped with the sticks around us (A) and a bottle of wine (B) we got on our hands and knees and started everything we could until there was nothing else we could.
The sun was starting to set and we had to make a decision. Josh began his trek through the forest hoping to find help while I stayed in the car with protector and trusty companion (Exhibit C).
Hours had passed with no sign of Josh. With nothing else to do I started to record a video-you know, just in case- And then gunshots fired ahead. A minute passed and a truck flew around the corner ahead and abruptly stopped about 500 ft. ahead, facing me. 5 long, suspicious minutes passed, our 2 trucks facing each other not moving, when out of nowhere they stepped on the gas and I made a split decision to jump out to get their attention.
They stopped because they had to. It was clear they were trying to get the heck out of there, but my Jeep was obstructing their way. In order to help themselves, they helped me. They pulled my Jeep out and at that moment a caravan of trucks showed up-Josh and the Park rangers. The 2 guys jumped back in their truck and took off and Josh and I turned around and headed back home, leaving the mountain to conquer another day.
So many things could've gone wrong in so many ways. Thankfully, it was just another #gkpmisadventures for the books.
Describe your wildest experience just in emoji's!
#flashbackfriday to (Mission:) SPACE.
The last time I went on it it was way less intense than when it first opened and I'm totally cool with that.
Now let's go back. 🌠
I could use some Disney magic.
This morning after breakfast we drove over to Roger’s uncle & aunt’s house to pick oranges & tangerines in their orchard. 🍊 •
About 5 minutes into picking oranges I switched over to picking air plants. I bought one earlier this year from a nursery up in north Georgia & just one tiny one cost me about $7. So since they aren’t good for the orange trees I decided to load up on them & I picked a whole bag full of tiny to large air plants. I can’t wait to create terrariums with them when we get home! 🌿 •
