I have always loved this old painting of mine from 2015. It was the first time I had tried multiple colors to indicate skin tone, and I spent a LOT of time on each hand, I recall half a day per hand! I didn't have a deep understanding of lighting and color then, so I had used a very light shade as a contrast background. It took away a lot from the subject. Finally got around to it today and changed the background with some muted blues and pinks with black shadows.
For best effect, it has to be lighted from the back! That's an interesting challenge for a buyer, I think! As far as the meaning goes I am always humbled to see hardworking hands held in this pose. Reminds me of all the things I am grateful for.
Thankful Tuesday’s? Heck yes 🙏🏽To all the beautiful souls that grace my life, the friends who have my back and support through and through; the musicians who contribute to my growth as a fellow musician and sit beside me in performances; to hair and make up artists and designers for beautifying me; I may stand up there by myself but there’s a whole team that makes this circus of being a pianist happen! 🎹🎶♥️ #thankfultuesday
