《Underrated Slasher Flick》
A masked killer targets six college kids responsible for a prank gone wrong three years earlier and who are currently throwing a large New Year's Eve costume party aboard a moving train.
On the train to Prague and I’m all by myself in this carriage. I have this compartment with 6 seats and thankfully there’s a lock. Thankfully it’s not dark outside yet. Thinking of Terror Train again. Jamie Lee Curtis was in it which leads me to Halloween and all the other horror movies of that time. Sweet Jesus I’m such a coward! 😢
TERROR TRAIN (1980)
This is a slasher I personally love, I could watch it any time! Doesn't hurt that it's a horror classic starring Jamie Lee Curtis, either. There's even David Copperfield playing a part.
What gets me most is the story, it's so damn disturbing. A perfectly grim, sinister setup for a slasher. Not just that, the setting - a costume party on a train - is one of the more ingenious amongst the sub-genre, not an overdone location by slasher movies. And all the costumes only do fun things for the whodunit plot.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis once said of her character in this film: "There are certain things a heroine in a thriller has to be. She has to be vulnerable, so that the audience identifies with her & is rooting for her. But she also has to have an enormous inner strength to overcome the evil, or terror, that is pursuing her. I play the same kind of character as I did in other films. But Alana - the girl I play - is stronger & more defined."
"Jesus, I don't know who it is anymore!"
Terror Train - Known for their pranks and notorious for hazing, a fraternity hosts a party on a moving train for New Years. What is supposed to be fun, ends up being murdersome! "Terror Train" stars Jamie Lee Curtis and the magical David Copperfield (ba dum tish). Probably getting more flak than it deserves, it has some unique ideas and these make this slasher stand out on its own. I'm not going to spoil it; but watch it until it's climax! #horror#horrormovies#terrortrain#terrortrain1980
Avez-vous aimez ce film ? Quel est votre avis ? Did you like this movie ?
The FYE nearest to me is closing, so this is what I snagged from their sale - for only $80! Pretty excited about this stack! I’ve only ever seen House of Wax, which I’m so excited to finally have on bluray, and Pet Sematary 2! 💀
Finally got around to watching #TerrorTrain last night and despite a lot of the negative things I’ve heard about it, I really enjoyed it. It’s not the world’s most complex slasher but it has a pretty magnificent twist and an all-star cast including #JamieLeeCurtis#HartBochner#BenJohnson#Vanity#JoyBoushel (From Humongous) and a very young #DavidCopperfield who, funnily enough, plays a magician. The plot is pretty standard, basically a bunch of college kids play a prank on a dweeby (and, as it turns out, mentally unstable) frat initiate. The prank involves him thinking he’s going get a chance at playing hide the salami with Jamie Lee but instead he winds up in bed with the recently autopsy-ed corpse of an old woman. He freaks out, waits a couple of years, then has his revenge while his buddies are blowing off steam on a party train. It was the first film directed by #RogerSpottiswoode , the guy behind #StopOrMyMomWillShoot#TurnerAndHooch#The6thDay and #TomorrowNeverDies Oh, and did I mention Vanity is in it?

I was planning to watch Prom Night last night but ended up watching Terror Train instead. I can think of few better locations to set a slasher movie than in the claustrophobic surroundings of a moving train. Director Roger Spottiswoode (who would later enter the Bond franchise directing Tommorrow Never Dies) makes his debut behind the lens and does a good job of building the tension and terror as Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis (in a film she shot back to back with the aforementioned Prom Night) leads the cast of college students holding a party on board a chartered train 3 years after being involved in a prank which went horribly wrong during an earlier party. However it seems that the fancy dress theme has enabled a killer to hide in their midst. A killer who is looking to make them pay for what they did. And will not stop until they have.
This film is a really clever idea and the presence of Curtis, together with Hollywood stalwart Ben Johnson, magician David Copperfield (strangely enough playing a magician), and Spottiswoode's direction really help it to stand apart from being "just another slasher". Shot on board a real train, which itself could be considered a character, it's an enjoyable and fun little movie.
