Setting GOALS is always good, but ACHIEVING them is always BETTER!
BEFORE and AFTER photos!
Just ten weeks ago, thanks to @austinbritton , I decided to add a discipline to the end of my work day! This discipline was 1/4 mile of outside walking lunges 4 consecutive days a week! Thus a mile of lunges a week! (Which is about 1750 lunges for me) These were done in ADDITION to my daily fitness routine.
My original goal was to make it to the eight week mark, but yep you guessed it....ten miles sounded much better than eight! Haha 😂
As any physical challenge, I gleaned a lot of info about myself. Heat, rain, darkness, and 30 degree temperatures never derailed me! That is OHIO weather for ya!
With that being said, I ENCOURAGE you to step out of your comfort zone and add a discipline to your own life that challenges you! You will not REGRET it, I promise! #goals#tenmiles#lunges#legs#thickthighs#greeneyesthickthighs#nsg#nosurrender#tmlb#tilmylastbreath @nosurrendergear @nikkis.angels
A huge personal celebration today if you’ll indulge me. Running was a big part of my pre-kids, pre-HomeCooked and pre-adult responsibilities life stage. In an effort to add a taste of that life stage to my current life I decided to start running again. The time alone outdoors with music or podcasts in my ears was just what I needed to refill my buckets, feel better and thus be a better wife/mom/business owner/person. This morning I did the ten mile Rocky Run in Philly (my first ten mile race in 6 years and only the second one in probably 10 or 12 years) and I couldn’t be happier! I know running isn’t for everyone but if you’re feeling like you need a “fill up” I encourage you to put some time into figuring that out. Also, huge thanks to the HomeCooked team for holding down the fort today! #yolo#tenmiles#rockyrun#homecookedpaoli#fillyourbuckets#notsettingrecordsbutwhocares#readyforaburger
Not a pretty picture, but pretty pumped about this. Ran 10 miles this morning for the first time since injuring my leg last fall (10.15, to be exact😜). I did it in two parts because kids, lol.
I’ve been consistently running again for 4-5 months now; I’ve done several 8 & 9 mile runs during that time, but have had kind of a mental block against 10. Maybe because I hurt myself on a 10 miler? Dunno. But today, it was time to cut the BS and #justdoit .
I felt great the whole time, and so, so grateful to be able to do it. This gives me hope that there are more half marathons in my future, and who knows - maybe even another full one day! Now it’s time to go enjoy the weekend. I hope you do the same😊. #motherrunner#tenmiles
7 beautiful outdoor miles today at 8:36 average pace. Feeling so lucky that I finished with classes and lab early enough today to run outside. We mentally prepared to do these 7 miles on the treadmill but happy I got to switch it up. They honestly flew by which never happens for me on any run more than about 5 miles. Days like these are rare but I’m feeling lucky today. Also finished all my midterms for the week so I can commit to stretching and rolling today which is also great.
Before and after ten miles of death. One of the hardest races I’ve done. And I’ve done a few at this point! Mile 6 was one giant hill I think. So yeah. Dead. That’s me. But so glad we did it! Ripped off the race band aid and it feels great to be back! #runforthewater#tenmiles#ivegotagiantblister
One of the hardest things that I have ever done physically. My first OCR experience and I didn't cramp up or feel dehydrated even though it got hot. I did 10 miles, 24 obstacles, and got electrocuted to the point that I couldn't move my legs. My arms helped pick me up when I needed it the most.
A year ago, I couldn't see myself as a habitual gym goer or doing things like this. I only wished and hope. This past 12 months I stopped wishing and started doing. It's awesome what can happen if you actually decide to start taking action.
10 HARD miles out on the trails today. These runs are complicated; insanely fun & brutally difficult. It really becomes a psychedelic experience with the right music and the sun shining through the amazing fall colours. Hills, stairs, jagged root systems that need to be traversed like an agility ladder. I am zoned out and completely focused at the same time. Can't wait to get after it again. I NEED SOME COOL NEW RUNNING SPOTS/TRAILS IN TORONTO! Hit me up and let me know where your favourite spots to run are! I'm going to try to keep this thing going through the winter!
