This one thing gave life to our TEDx talk!
Few weeks ago, @arshdeepco and I were in the same hall where our TEDx talk was to happen.
We were thinking of how best we can do this as it is one of the most important events in our lives.
We were prepared but something was missing in our preparation. Something, if added, would make our TEDx talk much more interesting.
I was scrolling through my Facebook Newsfeed and I came across a post by @mitchjohnmiller where he spoke about “emotions” and why it is the element that separates one who never makes it from the one who becomes wildly popular. (Thanks for that post, Mitch!).
This struck me that we need to make our talk more emotional and there isn’t any better way to connect with your audience emotionally than to "story-tell". "Stories" create magic.
Storytelling made it possible for us to share our life learnings in a simple way and made our talk much easier.
We wanted to add real actionable advice for teens and young adults in our talk but it would have sucked if we just shared our ideas without sharing our story!
But if you think storytelling is a piece of cake, Boy! you’re wrong!
Storytelling is an art. It’s something that you get better at when you practice it.
I would’ve never realized the power of storytelling had it not been for a Forbes article by @kevinauthor (link in comments)
The article I mentioned is a GUIDE on how to effectively story-tell. The eight questions that you need to answer before crafting a story is a game changer.
So finally, we tweaked our talk accordingly and gave it an emotional touch sharing our stories.
What we shared with the world, you’ll see in a few weeks when the video will be out on official TEDx YouTube channel. ;)
First TEDx talk ✅
What’s your story? COMMENT below!

#Congratulations to the winners of @philinthecircle’s new @guinnessworldrecords breaking connect-the-dots art! So many entries made it a tight race, but we are happy to announce the #winners of our #contest on today's #blog :
I have a brand new virtual group coaching program!
So many times we start to self-sabotage just when things start to expand, just when we are on the cusp.
When things start to expand, the fear mongering thoughts step in to try to keep us comfortable, to keep us safe. Suddenly, we are trying to crash down and stop progress in its tracks.
The bigger the opportunity, the easier it is to instigate “the crash down.” Then, at least, we are in control of how we go down in flames.
We don’t have to sit and wonder when the other shoe is going to drop. The only problem with this is self-sabotage prevents us from jumping at the pivotal moment when success is almost within our grasp when the trapeze bar is inches away.
The exact moment we are tempted to step back tends to be the moment when we are on the verge of flying.
Does this sound familiar?
Imagine if you finally had the key to overcoming your own stuckness and sabotage.
Imagine if you finally understood how to break through your OWN glass ceiling.
What could become possible?
Well, my friend, there is a beautiful opening for you here.
There is an opportunity to do the deep inner work so you can gain the awareness to rock it with an awesome plan come January.
You CAN identify the root of the self-sabotaging behavior that keeps you stuck in your big life and soul goals with your body, with your relationships, creativity, and impact and ignite more empowerment, more ease, more trust, and deeper feelings of peace and fulfillment in 2018 (and beyond). It is all about a RADICAL mindset shift, baby. Want to come along for the ride? IT is all about building a rock-solid foundation of inner trust, understanding and self-acceptance.

Hey, I’m Steph - part meerkat, happiest in the sunshine in the south of France 👋☀️ I spend a lot of my time working on and talking about suicide awareness and mental health which isn’t always the easiest topic and can often leave me in quite a serious mood. But that’s only a part of me and what I do, I’m also silly, funny and light, especially when I feel relaxed and comfortable in my favourite places 💙 This place makes my heart happy and full - it’s a feeling I can’t describe but it’s bloody brilliant 🌟Realising how important it is to find balance and keep the lightness in our lives. I've booked my hotel - I'll be in New York city!
Fellow hypnotists - are you coming?
I'm extremely excited to be speaking at this incredible event. I might even pick up a comedy hypnosis show while I'm in town - stay tuned. (Hint hint, book me 😎). PS While I've been in many large cities I always feel like a slack-jawed huckleberry when I'm in NYC. #PleaseDontMugMe

Don’t be afraid to try some new or look foolish. Tested my “watch my Tedx talk” shirt @dreamersventures it was so easy to spark a conversation since they would ask “you did a TED talk?” I felt physically sick getting out of my comfort zone wearing it, but I calmly reassured myself that this feeling will pass and will dissipate as long as I keep trying new things especially when it comes to advocating for financial literacy. Awesome panels! #tbt#dreamersventures#tedxspeaker#financialliteracy#lovewhatido
It’s Thursday. I’ve kicked ass this week. The to-do list has been dominated. Check boxes are ticked. ✅
But damnit if there’s not 5,000 more items to check off. 😩😣 If you’re anything like me, staring down a never ending to do list feels like staring down the wrong end of a shot gun. It leaves you panicked, full of anxiety, and thinking “how the hell am I going to get out of this alive?!”
The only effective formula I’ve found is to douse that moment of overwhelm with a healthy dose of gratitude and yoga/dance parties. No I’m not kidding. 😝 I’ll pull out my journal and quickly scribble all the things I’ve accomplished, what and who I’m grateful for, and how I’m going to keep up the awesomeness. 3 minutes of this and I start to feel my energy shift. Then I turn on a favorite Spotify playlist and do some random yoga and have a little booty shakin dance party. It’s not pretty 🙈🤪 but it’s just for me and feels great. 😎🧘🏻♀️💃🏻
Add snuggles with #sirbarnaby soon enough and you have my perfect formula for getting past overwhelm and stepping into your #brazenaudaciousbadass self.
Make some magic happen. ✨
