4 years + 1 day ago I saw this sign for the first time outside my office just before I began my first year of teaching. I was terrified, excited, overwhelmed, and totally unsure of what was going to happen. I felt like such a beginner and like I would always be one step behind. // Today I began year 5 and this little sign caught my eye. It is still on my desk, but it’s hundreds of miles away from where I first saw it. Together we have (sorta) figured out this teaching thing while simultaneously realizing that there is so much more out there to learn. If nothing else, I am so grateful to have a career that brings me so much joy, challenge, and purpose. So here’s to the end of the “beginning” and the beginning of not being so brand new

I’ll have to find my favorite photo of my daughter, which is of her hugging a big tree at our neighborhood park when she was just about a year old ❤️ We love trees!
This wonderful book celebrates trees in all their glory in each season and thanks them for all they give us ❤️ 🌲 ❤️ Shade, air, fruit and happiness.
Author #lemniscates keeps the words simple, allowing this to be a great book for any age. And the pictures are beautiful!
Themes 💫 Nature, gratitude, environment, seasons
Ideas 💡 See the photos for the activity we did! For practice with scissors and glue we made a tree for each season and the talked about what changes take place and why😊 lots of fun!
I love teaching kids about science!!! We taught a new subject at the South Korean Space Camp this year: CPU Fundamentals. •CPU - Central Processing Unit
•A CPU is made up of many logic gates. •Logic Gates are AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR and XNOR. •Diodes are a valve that allows electricity to flow in one direction. •A Transistor is made up of two diodes.
We made special circuit boxes from a board game to then text the kid’s knowledge and experiment with real hands on stuff!!
#dearfirstyearteacherme you are so capable of every obstacle that is about to come your way. You should also plan everything for the next day BEFORE you leave school- you don’t need to be rushing around in the morning with the printer and thinking about what you’re gonna do the next day in Math while eating dinner. And just like the students, you are going to learn something new everyday 🍎👩🏻🏫💃🏻
ALSO I wish I would have had a YouTube video telling me all the tips on surviving the first year of teaching, so you know what they say- if you can’t find it, make it. #firstyearteacher , check out my most recent YouTube video in my bio! My Top Tips on How to Survive Your First Year Of School!
Ms Hebert 💕
PS don’t forget to give yourself some grace, you’re doing your best and it is way better than you actually think😘

I absolutely love this poem by Nadine Strain. .
My favourite line is:
“If I had to do it again,
I would travel lighter than I have”. .
So powerful, so true and so profound. A lesson for us all and one that Nadine penned when she was 85. My advice to you all (and myself), let’s not wait as long this remarkable lady.
Love these contact cards. I know I can easily find phone numbers for my students in our database. But I love that this tells me more info.
My first year of teaching I called a parent to discuss a student only to find out much later that the parent that I called almost never saw their child. I felt so embarrassed for not better knowing about my students. This also helps me to see which students have both parents in their lives, split custody, or a parent who is not involved. It helps when it comes to back to school night, report cards, phone calls home, and even holidays (like Mothers day or Fathers day). #teaching#teachers#students#teachersofinstagram#teachersofig#backtoschool#kidsfirst
Jesus tells us when society parallels the days of Noah he will return as we read in (Matthew 24:37-39) - 37 But as the days of Noah were, (so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.)38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, (so also will the coming of the Son of Man be).
[So what was going on in Noah's day that parallels our day?.. to find out we need to go back to the book of genesis]
5 Then the Lord saw that the (wickedness) of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only (evil) continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. (Noah Pleases God)
9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with (violence). 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
(The Ark Prepared)
13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with (violence) through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
There is no doubt about the hour in which we live being the season for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ as we link (Matthew 24:12 & 37-29 with 2 Timothy 3:1-5) »»The bible describes our day very clearly from these scriptures.
The condition of (wickedness) & (violence) that caused the earth to be destroyed in Noah day is the same condition our world is in today...
