Had the BEST Maths lesson today! Introduced angles to my kids and they went absolutely berserk 🙌 We identified the various angle types and then learnt how to use a protractor to measure angles. LOVED hearing how excited kids were to find an obtuse angle on their desk 😂 Even had kids writing I ❤️ Angles in whiteboard marking 👊👌

I’m so grateful that blogging has brought these ladies into my life! I thank you both for the friendship that we’ve formed over the years and the inspiration and support system that you both have been for me. I wish you both the best of luck on your new adventure. Hawaii will always be home! 💕 #hawaiiblogger#hawaiiteachers#iteachtoo#teachersofinstagram#teachersfollowteachers
New @hello.hollie_ earrings and sparkly boots to get me through a Tuesday 🙌🏻 Spent every lesson today reading/discussing/giving feedback on assessment drafts... it’s that time of term! Also got my skirt caught in @twenty_something_teacher’s classroom door and her Year 11s all laughed at me 🤦🏼♀️ #week10feels
I’ve been hearing a lot of negative and defeatist talk recently, so I made some growth mindset posters to help my kids start challenging their thoughts when they’re tempted to give up or think they’re not good enough.
What I loved most was seeing such a great practical example of these quotes in action after I introduced them this morning... later on today, a little boy in my class threw his hands up and said “I just can’t write the letter a properly, it’s too hard!”... but with some encouragement to not be defeatist and to keep practising until he can, he persevered and by the end of the lesson he definitely wasn’t forming them perfectly yet, but wow he’d improved! 🙌 #powerofthemind#powerofpositivity#growthmindset

Have you ever sorted your markers by color? We recycled plastic containers and wrapped colored masking tape around each one, each container a different color. Then we put 1-2 matching markers in each container. It’s a fun color sorting activity, encouraging the children to slow down while putting the markers away, taking the time to place them in the matching container. 🖍
We have been learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly, so we created some butterfly artworks. I stepped the students through a directed drawing and then they coloured them in using oil pastels and did a yellow wash for the background. I love how unique they all are!! 💛🦋💛
