#tdf2018 day 4, I started spinning 70% alpaca/30% bamboo pencil roving and I'm wishing my fast flyer was here already instead of just on order. Trying to get consistent at long draw is tough when you're running a marathon to get enough twist. That's why it's a marathon, I guess. #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese
Congratulations, @woodlandsprite! You are our Instagram contest winner for #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese ! Prize information will be sent via email. Thanks everyone for participating, and I can’t wait to see all of the Tour de Fleece 2018 posts!
Cleared my bobbin in preparation of annual tour de fleece spinning in the next month. This is 394 yards of 2-ply
Tour de Fleece spinning for days 1 and 3. Day 2 was awesome crazy but no spinning. This is about 3 oz of a hand painted merino/tencel braid from Bonkers fibers in Lawrence, KS. I started it months ago and needed to finish it to move on to other things. #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese#tourdefleece2018#teamakerworks2018
I have just started working on this shawl again after a few years off! I’m using my butterfly Kate with a yarn caddy for my 4-row stripes and they are all playing together so nicely!!! #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese
A rainbow of hand dyed, hand carded blend of angora and wool. About 2 oz total, angora donated by my own bunny. 🐇 This is a prize for the Tour de Fleece Team Saint Cloud drawing! #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese
Finally got my drumcarder out to play. It's been awhile. The batts where made from a scrap box I bought 4 years ago Yikes! From Natalie Redding. Just over 8 ozs ready for tdf2018. #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese
There’s still time! #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese ends tonight at midnight ET, just in time for Tour de Fleece. We want to see what you’ll be starting on tomorrow. And remember...you can still join Team Akerworks!
Nightspinning y’all! Deserves a quiet night. The photograph of the e-spinner, taken years ago, turned around backwards so the bobbin shows, every fiber reveals the twist is in reverse... Okay, okay, I’ll stop butchering a great song! Hope everyone is having a great evening. Don’t forget the clock’s ticking on our #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese giveaway (and you can just repost this to enter if you wish!) as well for signing up to join our laid-back-it’s-all-about-the-camaraderie Team Akerworks Tour de Fleece team.
I decided I should join Tour de Fleece this year, with team @akerworks!! My goal is this giant combo spin, and if there's time left, i have a Loop bullseye bump. I'm SO excited that i'll have a Butterfly Kate for my plying needs!!
Fiber artists are tagged 😊
Lofty plans for Tour de Fleece 🚴♀️🐑 We'll see how much actually gets accomplished 😂
1)Mini skeins from the 2017 Advent Fiber from @fibernymphdyeworks and the battlings from @hobbledehoy
2)Combo spin of the two braids from @hobbledehoy
3)Sport/DKish weight spin of the @threewatersfarm fiber
Making sunshine batts on my Strauch petite drum carder in preparation for Tour De Fleece 2018! This is a lovely blend of fine wools from a local co-op (likely Rambouillet and/or Merino), dyed Merino, Angora (from my Truffles! 🐰💕), and just a dash of sparkle. ✨ #tdfdreamsaremadeofthese
I love this simple photo of a workhorse Yarn. 3ply yarns are such wonders and this one is no exception. Thanks for spinning #51yarns and please email contact.us at plymagazine. Com for your sub!! #Repost @llamacorn_misanthropy with @get_repost
#TDFDreamsAreMadeOfThese as I work through my current WIP, more of my favourite blend @heavenlywools Haunui/silk. I keep changing my mind on what will be first on my wheel come the start of the event... Reds and browns, or teal? Either way it's silk blends, because why wouldn't it be? 😜
These days I don't seem to want to spin anything other than 3ply fingering weight, which I can't say I'm unhappy about! Especially as it means I can jump on the #plymagazine#51yarns bandwagon for the first time. I adore traditional 3ply. I love the way it hides a multitude of sins, how it blends variegated colours, and then knits up with such nice stitch definition. The extra effort to split the fibre into three is well worth the pay off in my book!
