This longtime tailgate crew invited us to join them & we had so much fun! Bonus: There was dancing!!!
Met up with brother Pete Holohan and @princessdinthehouse and got to hold their grandson (I had to give him back). Rounded out the day with a Rams win🐐
I don’t know if I’ll ever do a FULL room transformation, but we like to spice things up on a smaller scale. This weekend was the @chiefs home opener, so we did a little math tailgate to review some of our skills. Each center went for about 10 minutes, but longer would have been good, too. *Note* All I bought was the paint pens and the little footballs. Everything else I made or borrowed.
1️⃣ Subtraction Cornhole: The students rolled the two big dice (I put the numbers in that I wanted) and subtracted them. I encouraged them to use tools and the yellow number path on my whiteboard. If they got it right, they got to throw a beanbag. They kept score by writing rallies on the board.
2️⃣ Ten Frame Top-It Football: Each Team had a set of ten frame cards. Each team drew one and whoever had the larger number got to flick the football and try for a touchdown.
3️⃣ Football Tallies: The kiddos got to choose if they wanted to try for a touchdown (7 points) or field goal (3 points). They kept track of their points using tally marks.
4️⃣ Art Center: We made a big good luck banner for the Chiefs! This center just gave their brains a little break.
5️⃣ Xtra Math: We do Xtra Math every day for fluency practice. Today they did theirs during one of these centers. To be honest, it was too loud and exciting in the room for these kiddos to concentrate well. I’ll do something different next time!
