This afternoon I was underneath a flock of 300 #cedarwaxwing while #birding at #shipleynaturecenter in #huntingtonbeach . I walked through the #toyon and the #torreypines and the #sycamore , just soaking up all the #californianativeplants . This morning was different though. I left my home, #CSUN , to stay with family in Orange county. I was told last night there was a shooting threat to the queer community at CSUN, and though the threat was dismissed, it had been on top of 3 or so previous threats against gays and jews. I don't know what to do. My proffesors have allowed us to take online finals, but it's hard to concentrate. I had to leave my oaks, leave my scorpion, leave my balcony plants, leave my friends. My family is wonderful, but I'm 28 and it's already hard being a nontraditional student, let alone one that has to flee paranoia of a shooting against your community. But Shipley is a reserve in so much of the word. It's a little piece of peace in a sea of turmoil. Flowers and birds and fruits and ponds have a way of bringing us back to what really matters, our connection to each other, earth.
Got in some mid-December golf today! The weather in the Midwest has been brutal for the last 6 weeks or so. Felt good to just see a ball flying through the air rather than hitting a net or back end of a pressurized dome #golf#chicago#sub70#chicagogolf#cdga

What you've looking at here is a lesson I learnt today. A brilliant idea came to me to use charcoal for kolrosing as its super effective as a colourant and I thought it would give me a really dark infill. Only trouble is that it's too good at colouring. Second lesson learnt is to try new things on spoons that you haven't just spent ages making and started to like. There's a reason people often use coffee. Oh well, you'll never discover if you don't try!
