A @liquidlifestyles drill favorite 🏊♂️🏊♀️ SKEET!
This one-arm drill can be performed with either an underwater or above water recovery. Execute each movement with deliberate focus:
💦Early Breath Timing
💦Clean Entry and Extension
💦 Kick Timing as it relates to Core Rotation
💦 Underwater Pull Pattern \ Width
Special thanks to 2-time #olympian Andrejs Duda for the demonstration!
Does your swim stroke suck? So you feel like you’re about to die every time you get in the pool? Do you avoid beach days because when you go into the water you’re an embarrassment to your friends? Of course you do. But Winter is swim technique season, folks!! Come do a private session with me in the @wellfit_performance endless pool! Guaranteed to speed up your freestyle in one session. Do it do it do it!! #nooffseason#wintertraining#swimtraining#swimtechnique#swimbikerun
The best cue I’ve found for catching the water is to feel like my arm is curving around a wheel as I’m in the first part of my pull. After I figured this out @swimmerdude999 mentioned the same cue in a video so I figure I’m on the right path.
Looking for 10 swimmers to try this *NEW COACHING OFFERING*
VIRTUAL SWIM SQUAD TRAINING
I am floating an idea out there that I have had for a while -- to unite people who do some or all of their swim training alone (if I had to do that I wouldn't be swimming). I am looking for at least 10 people who would like to try this out. For $20 for one month...You would receive one workout per week that is similar to the workouts I give at PRC but intervals would be based on + or -. We would have to determine your base pace. My hope is that you would develop "lane mates" in the group with similar base paces and we could feel that we are a community. "What did you think of that drill?" "What times did you hold?" Yes, you would have to start looking at the clock more;) I would give a specific drill each week with video demonstration and reason for the drill as well.
We would have a place for discussion and also progress posting.
There would be opportunity for additional workouts and video analysis (you send video above or below water)at additional cost.
Pls DM me if this is of any interest and if you have any further suggestions. #swimcoach#triathlon#triathlontraining#triathlons#swimming#swimtechnique
A worthwhile morning’s work with Mark @intellitri doing swim analysis at Loughborough uni 🏊🏻♀️
Good to know I’ve retained a lot of technique I was working on during pregnancy, despite 6 weeks out of the water post surgery 👍
Torben was a total champ- behaving himself for Simon so I could go in the water and look over the videos 💕😅
The journey back to being an athlete has begun! 💪
Body language and mental warfare... We aren't attempting to create cocky athletes but we are all for arming our guys with some body language and mental tricks that can come in handy. In the animal kingdom if a lioness or lion holds eye contact with another lioness or lion and one looks away submitting they are deemed beta and the other the alpha. Whilst we don't recommend staring everyone out, what will you do if the number 1 seed at the next meet shoots you a stern look?! Wide eyes and looking away shows fear and worse you FEEL it and you'll come in slower that you want. Shoot one back and hold the stare longer forcing them to submit then puts doubt and irritability in their heads as they feel something unknown to them... being the beta. This could throw them off their game and put you up on yours closing the gap. Good luck swimmers #swimtechnique#swimmer#swimlesson#swimbikerun#swimathon#swimfast#swimtrue#swimfun#swim#swimstore
More fitness from our trainers. What could 1 clean lb of muscle do to your performance?! Male or female one clean lb of contractable tissue makes your body stronger! It's common sense that this is just PBS and records waiting for you! After all we get from start to finish with a series of contractions! We aren't recommending gaining a bunch of careless weight that will throw out the power:weight ratio. Look for our previous posts and upcoming posts about how to gain clean muscle. #swimtechnique#swimmer#swimlesson#swimbikerun#swimathon#swim#swimfast
The RECOVERY phase : Relax your hand as much as possible (right arrow). Do this forward motion while focusing on «leading with the elbow». Many people lead with their «hand first» or «active hand», from the moment the hand leaves the water until its entering of it at the front (hand entry). This causes the whole arm and shoulder to tense up, which in turn causes unnecassary fatigue. A common drill is to gently touch the water with your fingertips all the way from start to the end phase of the recovery. In addition, I have found it quite effective to tell some of my swimmers to think of the forearm as a shield (left arrow), and to try and move that shield in that same angle as shown at the picture, as far fwd as possible before hand entry. I believe this automatically forces the opposite arm (the one under water) to push more efficiently during the underwater pull, causing you to move fwd faster and longer per stroke. Practice by swimming really slowly, maybe with fins, to reduce general fatigue (to increase the ability to focus). #swimmer#swim#swimtechnique#tri#triathlon#triatlet#openwater#tri365#triatlontraining 📷@haakonsk79
Yoel Romero is a 41 year old Cuban MMA athlete with a decorated wrestling career! You want to be a national champion but you can't even do somersaults through the air? This seems an unfair question to ask but think of it like this... if you want to be a freak athlete who eveyone is taking about you need to become a freak athlete who can do things nobody else can't! Phelps, Franklin, Peaty, Adlington the list goes on of athletes who have been superhero like. Good luck swimmers! #swimlesson#swimbikerun#swimmer#swimathon#swimtechnique#swimfast#swimstore#swimstrong#swimtechnique

Okay... what's the maths of muscle and bodyfat? Our trainers will tell you!
1lb of bodyfat takes roughly 3500kcal to burn.
1lb of muscle takes roughly 2500kcal to synthesize.
What does this all mean.
As humans we have something called a BMR basal metabolic rate. Eveyone has an amount of kcals they need for their body to stay exactly the same weight. That's your BMR. So if your BMR is 2000kcal and every day you consume 2000kcal you will remain the same weight.
Now if you want to loose 1lb of fat then you would do well to eat 1500kcal per day creating a kcal deficit of -3500kcal over 7 days. (500kcalx7days) and boom you're 1lb trimmer and more likely to see that PB you've been wanting. Gaining muscle works the opposite in a kcal surplus, requires gym sessions and 1g/lb protein intake #swimlesson#swimbikerun#swimmer#swimathon#swimtechnique#swimphysique#swimfast#swimstore *we don't own the rights to the photo in this image
Want super human times but have an ordinary physique?! Let our personal trainers give you some tips! Peaty is made for world records and swimming success! To create a body composition like this isn't as hard as you might think. Lifting weights is a key element as contractable tissue aka muscle is hugely important in getting you from start to finish! Try hitting the gym 3x a week and aim to consume 1g per lb of bodyweight in protein! You could easily log your workouts in a note book to ensure strength gain and log your weight weekly to ensure your gaining muscle. Remember is takes roughly 2500kcal to synthesize 1lb of muscle tissue so that puts things in perspective. The next part we will cover what is needed to become super shredded like Peaty! #swimlesson#swimbikerun#swimmer#swimathon#swimtechnique#swimfast#swim#swimmuscle#swimpower#swimstore
I was taught this swim technique (straight arms above water) after 2 years of shoulder injuries. Since then, I’ve often heard that I should change it back because “it doesn’t look good” 🤨 Luckily, I was also installed with the mind set that “it’s not supposed to look good; it’s supposed to be efficient and cause low risk of injury”. After the change, my pain disappeared - and I didn’t slow down 😍 Thank gosh, I had a coach like Tobbe, that I truly trusted - and that my new coaches also have supported this technique! 🏊🏼♀️🙌🏼 @mako_sport •
Turns are a vital part of all races over 50m! Here Taylor McKeown is using the speed generated from butterfly to work on her turn for breaststroke, since the turn sequence is the same for both strokes. At our clinics, the last part of the session is dedicated to dives and turns, and each athlete is given critical analysis of their turn, along with drills and hints to help improve it. There is a breaststroke clinic in December during the school holidays on the Gold Coast, jump on our website and book now before it’s sold out! This is by far our most popular clinic. #butterfly#breaststroke#swimclinic#swimturns#swimtechnique#taylormckeown#achieversswimacademy
I’m skipping the swim meet I signed up for today. Getting the news that my blood pressure might be dropping when I exercise was just one more heartbreaking bit of news related to my health. It’s been really hard to feel like I’m making progress only to shortly after take two steps backwards, repeatedly.
I’m going to keep swimming and lifting, but with different goals for the time being. Swimming will be still focused on technique in case I can train more seriously again in the future. With lifting, I’d love to get HUGE. We’ll see how much I can do, but I’d like to do more in the gym than I have been doing. I’m also running a bit so my cardiac stress test isn’t super painful for me.
SwimVirtual technical breakdown....
Notice how Missy Franklin arcs back for her backstroke start and look at the precision of her hand entry! Could you be so particular in your own career?! Notice how she literally is looking at the camera here!! Next time you do this training check if you look back and have such a precise hand entry! #swimbikerun#swimlesson#swimmer#swimathon#swimtechnique#swimfast#swim#swimsuit#swimstore

Here’s my breaststroke kick after using a band to keep my knees closer together. This is more narrow than usual, as my knees aren’t extending too far outside my hips. I’ve been thinking more about keeping my feet together on the up kick. Right now it feels stifling but I’m sure it will become habit soon.
Swimming in dark, unclear waters gets you thinking and your mind starts to play with you.
Best to keep focusing on posture and technique😄🏊♂️ This is from one of my last outdoor swims this year 📷by @sandertollevik
-Onregelmatigheid in de beweging van de benen.
Mogelijke oorzaak ? -Tekort aan flexibiliteit.
-Onstabiliteit in de core-regio.
-Verkeerd automatiseren beweging.
Oplossing ? -specifieke oefeningen tijdens droogopwarming.
-begeleiding van beenbeweging.
-alleen beenbeweging uitvoeren en aandacht op richten.
