Jason Lee is the friend everyone would like to have. He’s loyal, sensitive and generous and kind to those he loves. He has dedicated himself completely to his work at the pub that he manages with his friends, who have by now become a second family to him. He is trying to make sense out of a life that is damaged by loss and pain, closing himself into his safe haven of a world that is far removed from his previous suffering, and he is determined not to lose any more than he already has.
Alex McBride returns to Dublin, having been away for five years. She finds her old house, goes to places familiar to her when she grew up there with her friends, but nothing is like it used to be. Coming back is never easy, especially if your absence is responsible for the slow destruction of someone else’s life, someone you had hoped to forget but who actually remained exactly where he was, like an open wound that continues to bleed.
Jason and Alex find each other together again after a long separation: they’ve been friends, confidants and conspirators but now they’re forced to reconcile a past that has never stopped hurting and a future impossible for them to live out together, because there’s something that could separate them, and this time, they might be parted forever.

While the colonel and Darcy are below with Lydia and Kitty, Jane and Elizabeth are visiting with their father, and Elizabeth is learning to view her parents in a new light. ⠀
We get little sneak peeks at their story in this story. This is just one of those moments. ⠀
In the weeks before THE BRIDGE released, I had WACKADOODLE dreams. Each time, a specific person from my past would appear out of nowhere to SCREAM at me - a different person each night, of course. But always from the same pool of real-life drama-mongers.🔐 Sometimes the screamer would focus on the book’s flaws or even just its plot. Sometimes, they’d berate me about my personality. Sometimes, they would just scream at me for being alive.🔐 Good times, right? 😳
I’m happy to report that none of those dream-screamers ever visited me in real life. I couldn’t even tell ya if they’ve read a single word I’ve written. But the lesson I took away from that experience is that NONE of my biggest fears about THE BRIDGE came true. The positive stuff was WAY better than I expected, and as for the challenges... well, those were much uglier, but the point is that I NEVER saw them coming, so why stress out over what I can’t predict? 🔐 I’m trying to remember these lessons as I read through the final pass pages of THE LONG WALK. The anxiety dreams are back, and completely different this time, of course. But I keep reminding myself that it’s not my business what other people think about my book, or about me as an individual. It’s my job to tell the story to the best of my current ability and move the heck on.🔐 Feel the fear and do it anyway.🔐 #AmWriting#AmRevising#SweetRomance#TheLongWalk#CleanReads#AuthorLife#AuthorsOfInstagram#Booknerds#Romance#Booknerdigans#AmReading#TheBridgeNovel
Thank you Pinterest for this beautiful gown. I love the details. But I don't think simple pioneer women were really wearing pouffy dresses like this. Seems to me it would be a fire hazard...
