It's been a *minute* since I've posted anything workout related. Walking is good. But running is better. If you don't believe me, try both and see how your brain feels afterward.  But still, walking is better than sitting, so do that, at least. Keep your arms loose, your feet springy, and your core tight. Running is good, but running uphill is better. I would like to thank you, my legs, for all the support over the years, for traveling far.  My current favorite way to run is still laps up and down the staircase. I used to count laps, but now I time them. 20-90 minutes.  Usually I land around an hour.  In addition to running, I recommend pushups, (50-300, but do them in sets) a series of abdominal moves, (at the very least, 30-100 v-up scissor crunches) high kick cross body punch kicks (100 total, broken up into 3 sets), and 100-200 arm dips.  Most importantly, do every workout as an act of love and self care, which is the opposite of doing it to punish or shame yourself. There is a huge difference in these motivations. You are already loved, accepted, and priceless, so treat yourself that way. If you don't take care of yourself, you won't  be able to take care of anyone else.  Yes, I believe this. Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself," the foregone conclusion in that statement being that you already love yourself. I also believe in that statement is the foregone conclusion that we truly only are able to love others to the degree that we love ourselves. So if you shame yourself, without even realizing it, you are more than likely  judging and shaming others. News flash: I’m not invincible. Wish I’d remember to remember that. Totally overdid it last week with my activity on top of my teaching schedule. And now, here I sit on the couch - injured - instead of at the top of a climb or the front of my class. I want to do it all. And sometimes fail to give myself the time to rest or the recovery I need. So now, I take forced rest. And although being injured totally sucks, I’m trying to use this time to find some positivity and enjoy a rare opportunity to slow down. Who knows what might come from the stillness. Maybe I’ll actually read a book from my summer list. Or take the time to plan out our fall vacation. Actually work on the project I’ve wanted to do for years. Lots of  options outside of my “normal” days and tons of possibilities. •

Make Progress ⌛️
Lately I’m learning how to elevate my #focus to finally get done the things I need to do each day. I’m not the best at time management, and owning a studio (with no business partner), and building this brand has put that weakness of mine to the test. I can’t seem to get anything done, yet I need to do everything.

One thing that has helped is setting alarms on my phone for specific tasks. I decide how long I’m willing to give, set an alarm, and crank on it until the alarm goes off. Once it does (hopefully I’m done), I take a moment to appreciate completing the job, or reflect on why I didn’t get it done & what distracted me.

If you are practicing at home, always make sure to lift the chest and not sink in your shoulders when holding Upward Facing Dog. You always hear me talk about lengthening your body when I’m teaching class (yoga, Pilates or otherwise) and same rule applies here. We will dive more into this in this new series of videos. How to control your day... It seems like the older I get, the faster the days go by, especially as I get more and more responsibility.

And if you're like me, it may seem like the day controls you rather than you controlling it.

But with the right ritual and routines, you can take back your day no matter how chaotic it gets

CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN, AND COPE WITH WHAT YOU CAN'T

For example, if your boss gets upset, there is no switch to turn them off. If it starts to rain, you can't wish the showers away.

You have no control over external things... But you can control what time you wake up, what habits you start the day with, what temptations enter your life, what systems you have in place for dealing with those.

You can control your belief in yourself.

So let's start with one action, that can change your entire day for the better.

Start waking up fifteen mins earlier. This will allow you to attack your #1 priority first thing in the morning. Don't stay under the warm covers, that for average people. You are destined for greatness, you will not stand for average.

Your success is your personal responsibility, take action!

Do first things first! Do what matters even if you don't feel like it

امروزگفتم براتون از انواع یوگا بنویسم تا یه اطلاعات کلی بهتون داده باشم که اگر خواستین کلاسی و انتخاب کنین بدونین چه چیزی و دارین انتخاب میکنین. صد البته که این اطلاعات کامل نیست و خودتون هم باید راجع بهش تحقیق کنید، چند نمونه از انواع یوگا رو براتون این زیر مینویسم.
1.Yin Yoga
این مدل از یوگا خیلی اهسته انجام میشه و هر حرکت یا پوز یوگا به مدت طولانی تری نگه داشته میشه.  افراد مبتدی معمولا بین ۴۵ ثانیه تا ۲ دقیقه  توی یک حرکت میمونن و افراد پیشرفته از ۵ دقیقه تا بیشتر.این مدل از یوگا بیشتر بافتهای نزدیک مفاصل، تاندن ها و رباط ها رو درگیر میکنه.
2. Restorative Yoga
این نوع یوگا ترکیبی از حرکات کششی بسیار ساده و ارامش بخش هست که با استفاده از ابزار کمکی مثل اجر یوگا، طناب یوگا و غیره انجام میشه و معمولا هر حرکت به مدت۳ تا ۵ دقیقه نگه داشته میشه. این مدل از یوگا برای افراد مبتدی 
بسیار مناسب هست.
 3.Hatta Yoga
در این نوع از یوگا هم حرکت ها به مدت طولانی نگه داشته میشن ولی هیچ گونه جریان ثابتی برای هر پوز وجود نداره، بعضی حرکتها ۳۰ ثانیه، بعضی ۱۵ ثانیه و بعضی ۱ دقیقه نگه داشته میشه و برای افراد مبتدی که میخوان روی یادگیری پوز ها و تنفس گیری صحیح تمرکز کنن توصیه میشه. 
4.Viniyasa Yoga
این مدل از یوگا با تنفس گذاری هم زمان در هر پوزیشن و رفتن از هر حرکت به حرکت بعدی با دم و بازدم اتفاق میافته.برای این مدل یوگا باید با حرکتهای مختلف در یوگا اشنایی داشته باشین و این یوگا سطح کمی پیشرفته تری داره چون مدام با تنفس گیری در حرکت هستین.
 5.Power Flow or Viniyasa Power Yoga
این مدل همونطور که از اسمش پیداست، شبیه به وینیاسا هست ولی حرکت ها خیلی سریعتر و قدرتی تر هستند و معمولا مربی میتونه چیدمان پوز ها رو تعیین کنه و قاعده مشخصی نداره. اگر میخواین حسابی خودتون رو با یوگا خسته کنین و احساس کنین که یک ورزش جدی انجام دادین این مدل از یوگا رو توصیه میکنم.

So next time you are doing pre-run physical warmup give yourself a mental warmup too.  Recite your mantra or tell yourself that you will nail your run or race, think something strong and positive about the upcoming activity and watch it affect your performance. ⚡️positive thoughts 🔛negative splits ⚡️

Happy Hump Day all! It's been a crazy week so far! I'm a little late posting yesterday's workout. Thank you for all your kind words on yesterday's post & for all your support, encouragement and inspiration over the years! I got some messages yesterday asking about training/diet etc. When I started this journey; I didn't know where to start. It took years of trying didn't workouts, meal plans etc and often lead to frustration. No plan is one size fits all, but I'm always happy to share & help where I can! 😊 Yesterday after work, I squeezed in 7 miles (8:29/mile)! With thunderstorms lingering around and lots of flooding; I took my run indoors to be safe. ⛈⛈⛈ When I was done; the skies were still looking pretty ugly but I took a chance and headed to the beach for sunset yogalates with a friend! When I arrived; I realized the instructor was an instructor whose classes I used to take when I first started this journey years ago! We took our spots on the sand & it started to rain. We hoped it wouldn't storm too bad. Just a little wind & a bit of rain! Overall an awesome class & even in the rain - it was just beautiful! 🌧🌞 See stories for pics; I managed to get some beautiful sunset pics! happy hump day ✨ started my morning with a pilates class, and decided to change up breakfast and made a yummy greek yogurt bowl full! TBH I usually use vanilla but in this case did plain and gonna drizzle on a little bit of fresh honey + cinnamon! tip 👉🏻 if you’re eating 0% yogurt make sure to add back some fat to keep you full for longer!
