LIVING A LIFE YOU LOVE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM: On this week's episode of Terri Britt's Leading with Love Talk Radio, Lynn Owens will share how she used 1) self love 2) being authentic and 3) gratitude to help her overcome chronic stress, and major health challenges. Life happens to all of us. But we must know how to respond to stress, and be intentional in how we react.
Lynn Owens is a woman who lived a life full of people pleasing, saying yes to things that did not align with her, and a life she didn’t love. A life filled with stress, chronic stress, that is. This stress led her to hair loss, health challenges (thyroid disease and breast cancer), and depression. Lynn wore the mask of perfection, and tried to make her life seem authentic, but inside she was broken. She studied personal development, and yet did not use one thing she learned (watching The Secret, reading books, etc). until she received her breast cancer diagnosis, which is when she made a decision to rise up, renew her life, and live a life she loves.

"Things were going well! Then, in January of 2015, breast cancer changed my life again. After trying to have a baby for a couple of years, Kris and I were so excited to start IVF in the hopes of finally starting our family. Unfortunately, that was not in the cards. My routine mammogram showed that a new breast cancer was developing in my previously healthy breast. After doing a mastectomy of that breast, I was taken to the ER due to shortness of breath, where a CT scan showed that my previous breast cancer had spread to my bones. Instead of having a baby and fulfilling our dream of having a family, I was now facing a new reality: living with metastatic breast cancer." Read her full story here: http://bit.ly/adibastory

Kristi Pease, a breast cancer survivor, says breast cancer challenged her to be a better person. After facing this disease, she learned to be kinder to herself and others. She re-arranged her schedule to allow for "me time," volunteered at children's charities, and visited friends that she hadn't seen or talked to in years. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, did you make more room for activities that bring you joy? Read Kristi's survivor story using the link in bio.
Card of the Day: Six of Pentacles - Reversed
These days we are bombarded with pleas of “Would you like to donate to...?” You can’t go grocery shopping or head out to the pharmacy without being asked if you would like to round up for charity. The organizers of these charity drives know that you cannot think cognitively about every single financial decision you make and fully intend to wear you down to the point where they can manipulate you with guilt until they bleed you dry. Once you catch on, you get “charity apathy” and begin to say no to everyone without even thinking.
Consider this: No problem has ever gone away by making it profitable. If it becomes profitable to ask you for money instead of solving a problem, like curing cancer, the organizations will focus on asking you for money instead of focusing on curing cancer. That’s how it works.
What you need to do instead is help one person in your circle who needs help. Help them directly and not through an organization. You will be able to see their progress and you will feel ten times more awesome about it and no middle man will get a cut of the money so it will all go to the person you want to help. Every single person should be helping someone and be receiving help from someone. If this were to happen, we would erase the need for social safety nets and charities altogether. So please go out and be charitable this holiday season but do it in a way that you have control over what happens with your resources. Otherwise you are just paying someone’s salary with your hard-earned money.

To my phenomenal woman, who was recognized and received an award from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women for bring awareness to breast cancer to the African American Community in Orange County. Excellent work. #susangkomen
I love seeing that slow-building smile that makes its way across the faces of all of my clients when I get done working on them... but that look that comes over the faces of my breast cancer survivors... there's not one adjective. It's a mixture of relief, joy and contentment... a moment in time that starts to soften the past and bring hope to the future.
“Back through the years I go wondering once again, back through the seasons of my youth. I recall a box a rags someone gave us and how my momma put the rags to use. Although we had no money I was rich as I could be, in my coat of many colors that my momma made just for me.” #susangkomen#holiday
This wreath celebrates 9+ years #breastcancer free. The #hallmarkkeepsake#susangkomen ornaments are my greatest treasures from a dear lifelong #Marriott friend, Tammy. This year I've added a pink stained glass star ornament to the top from one of my #relayforlife friends for life, Lori.
Wishing everyone health and happiness always. 💗
