If you are only getting 5 minutes with your primary care provider - you deserve better. If you are not getting the time to understand your whole comprehensive care plan - you deserve better. If you go and the first offer is a prescription or surgery - you deserve better. 90% of the health care related disease is preventable! We need #actiontakers , #physicians and #patients to be educated to understand how to take their health to next level.
It’s so easy to get caught up in our own lives. To be so busy taking care of everything, and making sure we’ve done everything—that we forget what’s really important. .
I want to take the time to thank two of my favorite humans in this world; my mom and my fiancé. When I began this business, they were my first supporters, cheering me on and encouraging me. .
Every single way my path has taken me, they have been there for me. I wouldn’t be who I am without their constant support and unconditional love. .
Take the time to appreciate your loved ones—say how you feel when you feel it—you never want to say that “it was too late.” 💕

5 Core Principles of Team-Based Dentalcare
1. Shared goals. The team — including the patient and other support persons — work to establish shared goals that reflect patient priorities and can be clearly articulated, understood and supported by all team members.
2. Clear roles. There are clear expectations for each team member's functions, responsibilities and accountabilities, which optimize the team's efficiency.
3. Mutual trust. Team members earn each other's trust, creating strong norms of reciprocity and greater opportunities for shared achievement.
4. Effective communication. The team prioritizes and continuously refines its communication skills.
5. Measurable processes and outcomes. The team agrees on and implements reliable and timely feedback on successes and failures in both the functioning of the team and achievement of the team's goals. .
Throw Back Thursday. I don't talk about my day job much on social media. To be honest I try to leave work at the workplace. It has been a struggle over the years to be able to do this because as a veterinarian it can be an all consuming lifestyle more than a job.
I used to own my own practice and still have a lot of trauma and hard feelings about the failure of that business. This photo is one of me performing an emergency caesarean section on a beef cow from about seven years ago.
I love cows and grew up raising them. My family still do. I however, have moved onwards in my career trajectory. I started a new job in a small animal practice with no emergency on-call. It has already made a positive difference in my outlook and anxiety levels.
I will miss working with cows and the victory of a successful surgery where mother and calf both live, but I know that I can make a more positive impact as a professional if I don't resent my job for what it takes away from me in time and peace of mind.
The human body is mostly a remarkable thing, but as far as design flaws go, this is a big one. In your 30s you start to experience gradual bone and muscle loss. This can slow your metabolism and lead to weight gain, especially if you don’t increase exercise or make dietary changes. This is also a decade when many women begin having babies, and not everyone has an easy time shedding the weight post childbirth. Thank you to https://www.shape.com/lifestyle/mind-and-body/normal-9-surprising-age-related-changes for sharing your experiences and advice on how the body changes from your 20s to your 30s. This area of the surgery targets the nerves and muscles from between the eyes, above the eyebrows, behind the eyes and nose. These points of triggers define if you have nasal migraines, and forehead migraines. Which I have both, and are my main source of pain when I have an attack. To cut those nerves (supraorbital and supratrochlear) The doctor did an upper eyelid incision on both of my eyes, to be able to reach them. On the other hand, to get inside the nose, first he did a “cosmetic style” surgery to fix the deviated septum that was pressuring the turbinates, preventing oxygen to enter as much as it should. And while inside there, he performed decompression of the nerves that trigger this type of migraines too. So yes it was a very big #surgery !6-7 hours long, and recovery was much harder than I thought too. But even though I didn’t get significant relief in my migraines, if I see the big picture it was all worthy!
First I need to know I am trying everything to #heal (for me and for my #family ,specially mi #kids ! I want to have a normal and active life as possible, (as crazy as it sounds to us!) one of the #stigma#migraines have, is that people think we are lazy and want to lay all day. My biggest wish is to be able to be present all the time in my family’s life.
Third I don’t know how I breathed before! #lol The fixing of the septum and turbinates has been life changing!
Fourth I do feel relief in the parts that my migraines use to hit harder, for example between my eyes, and temples.
And last but not least, it made me stronger, yes it was a punch in the face, another treatment that failed (1 of 1000 I have done) but this time, I realized I have 2 options, suffer and ask why this happens to me, or take it as it is, and grow, understand that this is what I am dealing now, it will go, I am sure I will make them go! My attitude towards migraines changed, and they don’t get any of my attention, I still have them daily, but I do almost everything. I take my acute meds and go out with my kids, with my husband, to exercise, travel, to party! So if I can’t control them, for sure I will control how to deal with them! And I will always #win them!
One step at a time💕💕 As some of you know I suffered from an eating disorder in college. It almost cost me my second year as my doctor, dean, professors, guidance counsellor and family were encouraging me to take a year off. My grades suffered because I was SO focused on my weight. I weighted 102 and had severe acne because I was taking anywhere from 30-40 diet pills a day and was not eating correctly. I did everything I could to try and hide it.
Because of this I developed a heart condition and was told I could no longer work out as my heart may not be able to handle it. I was told if I continued down the path I was heading - I wouldn’t survive. I wasn’t healthy. I was unhappy.
It was a struggle for me to get my head in the right place. Eventually, I stopped with the pills and my eating was controlled. I was able to work out again but I didn’t cared about my health or wellbeing.
Fast Forward to 2018 - I was diagnosed with something and was told the chances of it turning into cancer were extremely high. I needed surgery... After getting the surgery I knew I needed to change my lifestyle and adopt healthy habits. Each day I learn a little more about myself and my body and I push myself a little harder. Each day I strive to be a better, happier and more of an active person then the day before. I am a work in progress.
Although this run may not be challenging or significant for some of you it is a big step for me. I’ve over come many obstacles and I am proud of what I have accomplished this far. Each day I get stronger, faster and healthier. Each day I step further and further into my fitness journey. .
I was torn between singing "Lifeline" (@wethreemusic )
"The Average" (@jbobrienmusic )
Or "Try" (@mandyharvey )
And I picked Lifeline.
And yes I know, it's no where near the best but I had surgery on my throat not too long ago so my throat is still messed up, the surgery could also change my voice permanently so that sucks.
Uhm, it's taking a lot to post this, I'm scared about it
Anyways, dont be too harsh on me lol

As a fitness instructor, I’m able to take different fitness classes and build strength in different ways. I’ve recently noticed a lot of people in NYC (not just instructors) double in workouts. They may take a cardio class in the AM and a bootcamp class in the afternoon. I’ve been telling friends they’re crazy while I sit there and think my body could never handle that.
Then I started reflecting; doubling workouts used to be my life! College volleyball consisted of multiple practices at an intense level. So why this lack of confidence in my body’s abilities now?
Honestly, I have no clue. My guess is it has something to do with my lack of confidence since #surgery .
I’ve been changing my mindset and have recently been running and adding in a fitness class a few days a week additionally. I haven’t felt this strong since before my accident. I can feel my body getting stronger and my mind is able to weed out negative crap quicker than before.
It’s amazing how we function. How the smallest tweak in our routine can change how we view ourselves and what we’re capable of.
What’s something you’re doubting in yourself that you can challenge this week?

Last week we started our clinical year series with how to prepare for your surgery rotation. 😷
This week is about how to SuRvIVe the rotation! Emily’s surgery rotation was in pediatric general surgery, she even had the opportunity to operate on NICU babies 👶🏼! This was her hardest rotation and she’s happy to share how she got through it. For an in-depth look at our advice see our blog post via the link in our bio 👆🏼

Arielle came back 2 months post-surgery to have 2nd fat graft session.
It is recommended to visit the hospital within 2-3 months to have 2nd fat graft session which helps the body retain the fat and makes the results last longer.
She had rhinoplasty, v-line surgery, forehead reduction and fat graft!
We shot a make-up video on how to cover bruising & swelling with Arielle we will upload it SOON!
