Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient. It is one of the 24 micronutrients critical for human survival. The sun is the major natural source of the nutrient when the sun is strong enough, otherwise you will find it naturally in fish and eggs. It is also added to dairy products and some oils.
Studies have showed that supplemental Vitamin D is associated with a wide range of benefits, including increased cognition, immune health, bone health and well-being. Supplementation can also reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and multiple sclerosis. If you have a deficiency in Vitamin D, you may also experience increased testosterone levels after supplementation.
Vitamin D3 supplementation is recommended over Vitamin D2 supplementation, because it’s used more effective in the body.
Because Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient, it can be stored in some range in the body for future use. That’s why it can be toxic to overdose it, this can normally only occur through supplementation and if it occurs for a longer period of time.
The recommended daily allowance for Vitamin D is currently set at 400-800 IU/day, but it seems like it’s too low. The safe upper limit in the United States and Canada is 4,000 IU/day. But it might be even higher, up towards 10,000 IU/day. For moderate supplementation, a 1,000-2000 IU dose of vitamin D3 is sufficient to meet the needs of most of the the population, which is the lowest effective dose range. Higher doses, based on body weight, are in the range of 20-80 IU/kg daily. I would take this from a lean muscle mass perspective, and not could all weight if you’re overweight as it might be a risk for overdosing.
The supplements that I have found are mostly dosed between 200-400 IU/day. But as you’ve read, the safe upper limit is much higher, and shouldn’t be any worry to take more than that, as it seems like the positive effects from the supplementation comes with a higher dose.
Vitamin D should be taken daily, with a meal or a source of fat.
Vitamin D3 is one of the supplements that I take daily, when it's not summer, for better health.

So @activebodyburquitlam hooked me up with some L-Glutamine the other week, and I've been slowly implementing it into my diet.
Did some research and found that Glutamine (which is a Branched Chain Amino Acid) is beneficial in reducing soreness/fatigue following a workout.
Glutamine I find, only works to an extent as it will reduce soreness but not completely eliminate it.

An early#SupplementSaturday while I have some time on my hands! This week we are talking Carnitine. You can find both the @nutrexresearch liquid and @teamallmax capsules at @rexiusnutritioncolumbus along with any other supplements I talk about on here.
Why I Use It: Carnitine is an amino acid primarily found in red meat. Your body also produces a small amount of it on its own. However, there is research showing that taking in between 2-3 grams/day has benefits when it comes to fat metabolism (notice I didn't say weight loss). It is virtually impossible to get that much in from food intake alone, thus the need to supplement.
How It Helps: While Carnitine can help increase nitric oxide production, I the biggest benefit of Carnitine is that it helps your body to shuttle fat cells to your mitochondria to be burned as fuel/energy. That means MORE energy from a source that most of us want to get rid of anyway! Does this mean that your body will ONLY burn fat as energy if you take Carnitine? No. You would die if that was the case because eventually you'd run out of body fat to burn. However, your body DOES have the potential burn a higher percentage of fat as fuel during a workout when taking 2-3 grams around 30 minutes before you hit the weights or treadmill. I personally like to split my doses 2 grams pre-workout (liquid mixed with my pre-workout drink) and 1 gram post-workout (capsule since I'm normally short on time and can take it with me).
The Bottom Line: Is Carnitine magic? No. Is it something you can see benefits from when you have your nutrition and training in check? Yes.

Here’s a great supplement for your furry friends. It can be given to many different kinds of animals, even the humans. It’s great for those who have compromised immune systems such as cancer, recent trauma or in a new home. Supremely nutrient dense, it contains a variety of green grasses and sea vegetables. Why I use it: I train EARLY now a days. We're talking 5:30 AM. I get a meal in before I train, but I also know that my recovery won't be what it was when I trained in the evenings so I drink EAA+PUMP with some simple carbohydrates during my workout to help get that process started quicker.
How it helps: While a BCAA supplement is what has been pushed for years now, BCAA are incomplete proteins and your body has to pull the other Essential Amino Acids from another source to process them. Something with all of the Essential Amino Acids present gives your body everything it needs to start recovering. If you're thinking, "Why don't I just drink a shake during my workout? Those proteins are complete!" the problem with that would be that your body has to digest and break those proteins down before it can use them (also, warm protein shakes during your workout are gross 😵). With EAA+PUMP, they can be used by your body right away. EAA+PUMP also has 2g of Citrulline and 750mg of Taurine, which stack nicely with my pre-workout supplements.
