I’ve been busy with work and a new baby at home so I’ve been out of the gym for a while.  However, I’ve been eating pretty lean and stopped drinking beer during the week to work on leaning out.  Now I’m finally getting some gym time again and I’m so happy.  Here is what we’re currently working with.  I definitely have some work to do! .

Lately I’ve been enjoying life and time with friends. I haven’t been on social media much and its been great.

I was doing an assignment for a medical sociology class the other day and it talked about mindfulness. This means just paying attention to the present moment, being mindful about what’s happening in the now.

Lately I’ve been trying to do just that. Paying attention to what’s going on now and enjoying every moment. In today’s world we focus too much on what happened in the past or what’s going to happen in the future. All this does is raise our cortisol levels and stress us out!!

This is all unneeded stress and leads to more and more stress. This ends up having such a negative effect on our love life, schooling, lifting, everything really.

Whenever you catch yourself reliving in the past, or focusing on the future, take a second, focus on your breathing and just enjoy the moment now.

It amazes me when people want instant results. I’ve only been lifting for two years and I am so far from my goal physique. When people go to the gym for a month and give up because they don’t see what they want, it drives me insane. 🛑
Those stupid “get ripped in 30 days” or “abs in 30 days” don’t work. Don’t buy into things people try to sell you online because they “promise” fast results. 🛑

What does it all come down to? Consistency. Besides eating, this is the next most important part of the gym in my book. If you aren’t consistent, your progress will come and go, just like you do in the gym. -

You have to fall in love with what you’re doing, it has to be a passion, you have to do it for yourself. Once you see the changes, you’ll never stop. You’ll never be big enough or you’ll never be lean enough and you’ll keep wanting more. -

The only problem is that it takes time for those changes to come but the consistency is what’s going to get you those changes.

I’m in no way condoning steroids, as I’ve never done them, but I don’t care if someone takes them, and you shouldn’t either, especially if it helps them reach their goals. Why comment on someone’s post that they look bad or that it’s just from the roids? -
I 100% guarantee that they do not care what you think of them. They want to look how they want to look, and they’re happy with that, so why hate?

Woke up at 6am for clinical, came home and did homework, went to the gym, about to go to work and will be up till 6 am because of Work. I have to wake up 4 hours later to drive home for family reasons, come back to orlando the same day and work tomorrow night. Wake up Sunday and study all day for an exam on Monday. -
Again, I’m by no means perfect but the grind doesn’t stop, and the grind isn’t for everyone. Some people just don’t have the physical and mental capability to push through and be dedicated enough to accomplish their goals.

First time hitting legs in a solid month. Had some bad knee pain/issue so took time off to rest it and heal. Went super light today and just focused on correcting my form. I never thought I’d miss leg day but damn, it feels good to be back!

One of my favorite aspects of the gym is the type of people that I’m surrounded by when I’m in there. I can’t tell you how many people in my life that I’ve had to cut out due to their mindset. It’s so important to surround yourself with people that are like you, and what to achieve some of the same things you want to achieve. It doesn’t matter how small your circle is, as long as it’s the right people. Look for people who motivate you, who inspire you, who push you to be your best on the daily. In the wise words of drake, “my circle got so small that it’s a period.”

Seated smith machine shoulder press:
4 sets of 8 
Dumbbell lateral raises:
4x10 each shoulder 
Cable lateral raises:
4x10 each shoulder 
Face pulls (rear delts):
4x12 
Rear delt fly machine:
4x12

Cable front raises w/ rope attachment:
4x12

Dumbbell front raises:
4x10 each arm

One thing I’ve been seeing a lot lately is a bunch of half rep shit. So many people care only about the number written on the side of the weight.

I’m curling 45’s, trying to focus on form and controlling the weight, trying to squeeze the bicep, even though I can probably curl 60’s if I just swing back and forth.

I’ve seen the same people in the gym for the past two years I’ve been here, and most of them haven’t gained any size because they think the number is the important thing. I’ve seen people try to incline dumbbell press 110lb weights to impress people but the form is shit and they only do half reps.
