Summer is in full speed & we all love the warm strokes of the sun.
But skin cancer is my subject & I'm here to warn you 😊
⚠⚠ I feel sad when I see people roasting themselves 🔥🔥🔥 on the strongest sunshine between 10 -14hrs. Or, when I see children without any sunscreen or protecting clothes on 😔 😠 I feel strongly about skin protection due to my own "experience" with skin cancer.. 😨
I've lost at least 18months of normal life & almost left UNI half way through my masters - due to the most preventable kind of cancer! ⌚ The wait for the Mohs surgery & how much skin will be removed, was the longest wait in my life.. especially, due to it's location ➡ being close to my eye. ☝ Skin cancer can hide in deeper levels of the skin layers & it can grow for years! .. sometimes until surgery, you don't know where you stand! And the anxiety of how you gonna look after surgery, does not worth the temporary glow on your skin!!!
I understand that there are worst & more serious illnesses, but skin cancer in most cases is PREVENTABLE✔
📖 I've done a lot of research reading the professional literature within dermatology, & all these are BIG NO NOs .. here are some basics for prevention:
❌ AVOID frequent sun exposure in childhood (protect& save your children) ❌ Intermittent tanning won't save you!
❌ No tanning between 10-16hrs ❌ DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL TANNING BEDS!!!! NO! NO! NO! ... rather: ✔Use self tanning creams, if you like a bit of bronze
✔We only need 20mins on the sun for our daily Vitamin D intake
✔Always use UVA & UVB SUNSCREEN (incl. on your ears 👂) & USE hats 👒 at outdoor events & sports 👟 & when driving ..etc. ✔CHECK YOUR MOLES REGURARLY & FOLLOW THE ➡ ABCDE rule
✔Keep an eye on any new skin growths/lesions - visit your dermatologist! ✔Keep the wrinles after you're 60 & stay young looking !!! 💋
