Isn’t one of the most beautiful things in life seeing someone fully express themselves? I feel like self drafting may be visual self expression at its finest — you literally put the piece you design and sew on your body and walk around for all to see. It’s such a beautiful experience to draft your own clothes. If you’re wanting to start but feel held back, I put together 16 tips that may be incredibly helpful. If you care to take a look, the link is in my profile.
Took Elise fabric shopping today - they say you can't start them too early 🤣
If you're in Perth you should check out @wovenstoriestextiles at Myaree - we happened to be in the hood so we popped in and took home some goodies which I can't wait to sew 😉
Here’s a small action video of my newish fav outfit. The Terra pant here is a size down I am a 10 ( ish) and the pants are a size 8. They sit right on my waist and are shorter in leg. I made these from a viscose, cotton, linen blend - not typical pant fabric but perfect for this heat. I did some naughty cutting across the grain so the stripe goes across the body. I’ve been wearing them for a few hours prior to shooting so the knees are well rounded now. The Eqiunox Tee is not so new and is made out of a dry, mid weight, pure cotton - no Lycra and has the best texture. I am now stealing this back from the teenager as she’s taken a shine it. It really pops and shows off the square shape of the cut in this fabric. I recently learnt that Lycra is often used in knit to help stabilise throughout the dyeing and drying process. I’ve often wondered why it’s in everything.
I finished my @seamworkmag Catarina dress in a “super soft” silk (as the fabric guy told me). I think it’s lovely from the front but I’m not certain that it’s so flattering from the side 😑 something to do with gathering stitches always makes me feel round - anyone else?

It looks SO great! What a fantastic print! .
@Regran_ed from @kformosew - I made my first button up! It’s #theallstate shirt from @merchantandmills and I used @cottonandflax fabric from @stonemountainfabric !!! @@@@ namedrop city. I graded down from their size 36 and I think it looks great 👍 just needs to be worn in a little. I am proud. Also jack has a shaven poodle leg bc he had to be put under and have teeth removed from his little tiny mouth 😶 And a big thank you to @threadsnips and Stone Mountain for sending that extra 1/2 yard so quickly bc I miscut a few pieces and was so surprised when it came from CA just a few days after I ordered it praise be. LASTLY. I’d like to say Ashley completely designed this for herself- fabric, pattern, buttons, thread color. Just an artist in this world. #summersewing#memade#cottonandflax#sewqueer#sewcialists - #regrann
