First attempt at a placket and I cut the darn piece upside down with not enough spare fabric to recut 🤦♀️. Solution - cut a stripe large enough to cover the top of the placket and leave the under piece upside down as a reminder of the beauty of imperfection (and to always triple check my orientation 😆). .
A week until Summer holiday sewing begins. There’s been a sewing drought for some time, broken by a trip to @spotlightstores today! It seems my plan to buy $5 worth of Christmas ribbon saw me veer towards onsale linen😍😍 Picturing some Japanese pants in the navy and a couple of #ddmelilot shirts for the burnt orange #summersewing#sewingforsummer#sewjo#memade
Experimental neckline on a t-shirt today. Little strips of leftover knit jersey fabric that has a tendency to curl along the edges. Perfect for what I wanted. Just added in the next strip as I went along on top of current strips until about 4 layers were sewn. Reminds me of ranunculi flower petals. Simply zigzagged straight along the centre of strip following the neckline edge. So I’ll feel all flowery when I wear it! 🤩✂️#somethingdifferentforatshirt#summersewing#fabriclove#designfabric#viscose#t -shirts #makeyourown#ruchefabrics
This is the last self-drafted thing to wear that I made for myself back in...June? July?
My aims were 1) to not be naked during the heatwave and 2) to encompass my bump for as long as posdible during the summer.
Pattern: Self-drafted. I used ikatbag's brilliant series on drafting but left out all the darts, intending to insert an elastic casing (scrapped for some left over fabric acting beautifully as a 'waist' tie instead).
@mimigstyle has a fabulous youtube tutorial on a flutter top that gave me the off the shoulder ruffle (lesson learnt: better to have shorter and more gathered than longer with trapped arms!) Fabric: Gifted by my MIL. I would hazard a guess that it's some type of cotton seersucker? It was narrow but quite long so I had a generous amount to work with. The pink has come up in...blotches? But I've chalked it up to the personality and potential age of the fabric.
I was super pleased and proud (and comfortable) with how it turned out - it got many a wear this summer when it was too hot for life but I needed to be decent in public, like in my garden!
With my big sun hat and sandals, I felt super glam *and* cool on holiday at 28 weeks pregnant but forgot to take any pictures of myself whilst pregnant in that outfit (I fear the effects would not be the same currently!) so included one of my holiday destination, San Sebastian, instead 😊
The last picture is of me wearing it at around 30 weeks? I forgot the tie, so the bump is quite camouflaged!
Serious spring vibes from my first pair of burnside bibs 🌷 I decided to make them as shorts for my first attempt as we are heading into summer and I’m in desperate need of some more shorts. Hopefully the weather is better over the weekend and I can get some photos of these in action!
Also, how great are my new tags 😂thanks @tedandtootlabels .

Celebrating my husbands 40th (and our upcoming adventure!) in my maxi #soievedress 🥂 I’m going to admit - I cheated a bit on this one... I planned and cut this and didn’t have enough time to sew up so I had a friend do it. Regardless, I love how it came out! (Fabric from @arthurbalespty)
