This photo, unearthed from MySpace, brings back the angst of being a teen in FL about to slip out of the closet at school and at work (Coldstone 🙌🏼🙌🏼). So blessed to have an accepting sister, bundle of cousins, and countless friends and teachers who made me feel like I deserved to be my truest self and live my best life. I was scared of the thought of rejection from everyone, but in the end, it seems I was respected more for speaking/living my truth. Also, quite a few friends were like, “it’s about goddamned time, John John.” My parents eventually came around also, not without tears and awkward avoidance of the subject matter. But when your Filipino devout Catholic parents let you and your partner sleep together in the guest bedroom in their old house when you’re visiting from out of state, you know they’ve come around. I am so blessed to have had a great support system as some of us know some people’s coming out experience was not like mine. #Fbf#Summer2007#longhairdontcare belated #nationalcomingoutday#twinkAF
#tbthursday ❤️ to summer 2007.
Roo and I met at the beginning of that summer. It was a summer of magical adventures with his guy. This was the day we were saying goodbye. I snapped this picture with a waterproof film camera while we were hanging onto each other’s kayaks, drifting down the Alpine section of the Snake River.
He was off to explore and work around the globe, I was continuing working and living in the place I wanted to stay.
Who knew we would find each other again and make a life together. Best thing that has ever happened to me. I’m one lucky girl😍. #tbt#luckygirl#summer2007#goodolddays#snakeriver#roo#goodbyes#goodbyesarentalwaysforever#nzbeachlife#happylife
I love New York. I stopped into the Drama Book Shop to kill time before heading out of town for the weekend & bumped into Natasha! We realized it’s been 11 years since we studied opera together in Italy. How is that even possible? Time is strange! Loved seeing you @n1187! 💛 #greveinchianti#tuscany#summer2007#danielferrovocalprogram
Memories from some great jobs 10 years ago. In Ibiza, where I worked a couple of seasons.
I realise just how entrepreneurial I have been all along. I used to work all winter in England contracted to work at the hospital I loved on agency- making good money. And then spent a few summers out on this beautiful island working some really fun and interesting jobs.
One thing I can definately say about my life, is it has never been dull!
This was a great hussle of a job working at @amnesiaibiza at Cream. Every Thursday- I managed the nos bar - selling laughing gas (🙈😂) - which was quite ironic considering I also work with it in my anaesthetic capacity.
Questionable now, but as a job - It just wasn't work - it was so much fun - and I did well from it. Working in one of the best clubs in the world, going to all the nights on guestlists... The job before that, I managed to hussle a job in one of the sunset strip restaurants as a waitress. Never done it in my life before, never worked a bar and did my interview in Spanish! @sunseabar
Again, it was amazing, fun and didn't feel like work - even tho it was a lot of hours on your feet and busy. I made friends for life through that job - and overlooking the sea and those amazing views- especially working the sunset shift. So stunning 💕
All through my life I've pulled off some amazing hussles, landing some great jobs and places of work.
Because I never settle.
I always want to grow, improve and experience new things... And I feel so grateful and blessed to have that power within me to make this happen. To know that I can make anything happen ☺
