Hoo boy that was intense!
I was shaking more or less the whole time but thankfully (and unsurprisingly) the woman I saw was very kind and understanding and compassionate.
We mostly just went over my history today (still took most of the hour!) And I managed to bring up the sensory processing stuff, I didn't chicken out, yay me!
In response to that she mentioned ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and she's going to refer me to a specialist for assessment in that area.
It's something I've suspected might be relevant to my life for a while now but I didn't want to be one of those people who shows up in a professional's office with a bunch of stuff from the internet having self diagnosed, so I'm really glad she brought it up!
I'm seeing her again next week to start CBT. I feel very very tired but really glad I went and really glad things can now start to move forward.
I cannot even remotely begin to thank you all for your kind, supportive and incredibly lovely comments on my last post. You'll never know how much it means to me and how much it helped me.
Never underestimate the value of a few kind words, they can make all the difference to someone's life!
Masses of love to every single one of you! (The succulent was a wee gift from my wife, she picked it up while I was in my session because she knows I love them. I'm so lucky!)
