Woke up this morning excited for my tempo run (yes, excited😜) and telling myself I was gonna nail it...and I did!💪🏼Splits: 12:00 (warmup), 8:00, 7:53, 7:41, 7:27, 11:19 (cool down). I didn’t nail it last week and that fueled the fire inside me to get it done right today🔥I wanted that redemption. I told my coach these splits felt “fast comfy” - and I definitely felt like I could’ve kept going. Followed up with leg strengthening😊 #MyStrongestSelf

It is just as time consuming and difficult to learn accepting yourself as it is to pretend being someone else. The only difference is with self acceptance, one day it’s not hard anymore. U feel like your sexiest, strongest self just rolling out of bed in the morning. I feel like the 2016 pic embodies my lifestyle at the time. That wasn’t the greatest year for me - I used to drink, smoke and party quite a bit 🍻 (even though that’s not really who I am as a person). Not saying there’s anything inherently bad about these things (except maybe smoking lol unhealthy 🚫), but I was using them as an escape because I was unhappy and dissatisfied on the inside, and hey, this is what everybody else my age just does I guess, right? Idk 😐

Fitness has given me a sense of focus in my life and a constructive outlet for my health, both mind and body. Week to week I get to overcome the challenges I set for myself and become more confident along the way, and I love it. 😁🙌🏼 __________

2 months from today is the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend and I’m so excited to tackle another 26.2😬🏃🏼‍♀️ I’ve been putting in the work on the roads, in the fitness room, and in the kitchen (aka weekly healthy meal prep😜). I was thinking today about what motivates me. One thing that sticks out is how good I feel physically, mentally, and emotionally. After losing weight, becoming a marathoner, and working with professionals to overcome my eating disorder and PTSD, I feel like I’m a completely different person than I was 3.5 years ago. Keeping my eyes on what I want to accomplish and working everyday to slowly get there excites me and fuels my fire even more. I know what I can accomplish when I put in the work, so you bet I’m going to continue putting in the work these next 2 months and see where it leads me!

Ever finish a speed workout and think, “That was hard” but also “That was awesome”? That’s how I felt about today. Hard, but I felt controlled and strong. I focused on the repeat I was in, stayed consistent with pace for the first 3 reps, and brought my pace down for my last rep💪🏼 I really like running 1200m repeats. They’re not a full out sprint, but really make you hold a faster pace for a few minutes. I kept thinking about the day when 6:41 is my race pace😜🔥Now that won’t happen tomorrow but it’ll happen! Followed up with leg strengthening because I’m working on making myself #MyStrongestSelf (Full disclosure: I ran on the treadmill today. I wanted to nail this workout and not have to think about the hot temps!)

Well, not every run can be your best. After an awesome speed workout on Monday where I hit every single pace, I only hit 2 of my 4 tempo miles today. Goal was 4 @ 7:50. My half marathon PR pace is 7:46 so yes, I know I could’ve been successful today, but I guess I wasn’t believing in myself 100%. Splits were 7:46, 7:46, 8:11, 8:07, so not a train wreck of a tempo but it could’ve gone better. Yeah it was humid, BLAH BLAH BLAH, but that’s not an excuse. I told myself to keep pushing even though I wasn’t hitting my paces. I saw I was running at an 8:38 pace during my 4th mile and thought, “HELL NO✋🏼” so I pushed it to end with an 8:07 mile. Taking the strength I earned today, learning from it, and am excited to continue working towards my dreams😊🙌🏼

“It’s going to hurt...but I know I can do this” is what I repeated to myself during my speed workout today. Lap after lap after lap🏃🏼‍♀️ And I ended up nailing ALL my paces and finished my last rep at a 5:39 pace🔥I mentioned this in my IG story, but feel it’s necessary to repeat: don’t ever feel “slow” or ashamed about slowing down on recovery runs, easy runs, or warmup & cool down miles. I ran at a 10:45 pace yesterday for my recovery run (I often go over 11:00 min/mi if my legs are really trashed), and crushed today’s speed work. Positive talk and recovering hard are key to becoming a stronger runner - not just speed itself. I followed up with leg strengthening and now my legs are barking!😵 Good thing tomorrow is a rest day👌🏼

This quote describes my struggle with Binge Eating Disorder so well. I’ve struggled with BED for 10+ years and didn’t start working with professionals until this past January. I listened Annyck Besso on The Strength Running Podcast today, and like she described, a binge for me is like having an out-of-body experience. I feel like I’m not even in my body when I binge and like I blackout in a way, and then snap back into reality and realize what I just did and see how much food I ate. Eating disorders are mental illnesses and while recovery isn’t always easy, I am so proud of myself and my progress🙌🏼 I highly recommend this podcast if you’ve ever struggled with an eating disorder (which I hope isn’t many of you) or if you’d like to learn more about them. Two thumbs up for reaching out for professional help and seeing progress within yourself😊👍🏼👍🏼

Red faced, dripping in sweat, squeezed between the living room couch and bookshelf because there is literally nowhere else in my tiny apartment with enough space. Wearing a plain shirt sent to me by my future ma-in-law, and no pants. 🙈 (Please tell me some of you out there also hate wearing leggings or shorts when you work out? 🙋🏻‍♀️) So what else can you expect to see here other than my sweaty face? First of all I’m sorry I couldn’t find the exact same pose to compare - the reason is because I wasn’t the most confident in my own skin in the past, so obviously I didn’t save a lot of pics that showed my tummy and all that (I don’t think I even owned a crop top tbh lol... 😳🙈)

I feel like the 2016 pic embodies my lifestyle at the time. That wasn’t the greatest year for me - I used to drink, smoke and party quite a bit 🍻 (even though that’s not really who I am as a person). Not saying there’s anything inherently bad about these things (except maybe smoking lol unhealthy 🚫), but I was using them as an escape because I was unhappy and dissatisfied on the inside, and hey, this is what everybody else my age just does I guess, right? Idk 😐

First running post in over 10 days!! Wahoo!! Getting back at it after taking a chunk of time to celebrate our wedding and just chill with my husband😊Today I ran 7 miles @ 10:19 avg pace. I came down with a cold after our wedding and haven’t had my voice 100% since so my HR was a little harder to control today, but my spirits felt good and am so excited to start marathon training!!😬😬😬🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

Marathon Training Week 3! 🏃🏻‍♀️Wednesday cross-training ft planks: CORE STABILITY👉🏻 Research shows that planks are a superior core exercise to both crunches and sit-ups. Why? Planks are an isometric exercise (unlike crunches and sit-ups that are an isolated exercise) and provide three-dimensional activation, from the hip to shoulder. Additionally, balance can improve doing variations of planks with arms or legs. Planks are one of the most underrated exercises, so my challenge to you today is to plank as long as you can... because any athlete and non-athlete can benefit from stronger hips, shoulders, and most importantly, core. 💪🏻🏃🏻‍♀️ Happy Hump Day!!🏋🏻‍♀️

I was so pumped to run today because I planned to listen to @rambling_runner latest podcast with Heather. If you’ve been following me for a while (or listened to my episode on Rambling Runner😄 #39) you know I struggled with severe Binge Eating Disorder for a long time - 10+ years. I had a skewed view of food and just could never find a balance for myself. Throw emotions in there and binging every time something hard, stressful, sad, etc happened and well, food comforted me and stressed me out at the same time and it was always on my mind!🤯 I loved listening to this podcast because it echoed everything I’ve been learning while working one-on-one with professionals to not only help me overcome my eating disorder, but to make me a healthier and stronger person and runner overall. I wish this episode could’ve been 10 hours long because I definitely would’ve listened to the whole thing! I HIGHLY recommend listening to this episode even if you’re not a runner - Heather drops some major knowledge!👏🏻

Today’s run was just epic. Flat out epic. I wanted to do a longer run and opted for the treadmill because it’s raining and I get married next Saturday! No time for a cold!🙅🏼‍♀️
80 min treadmill run:
10 min warmup @ 11:32 pace
60 min steady @ 8:34 pace
10 min cool down @ 11:32 pace
I didn’t touch the pace button at all, so kept all 80 min 100% steady. So all 60 min were exactly at 8:34 pace. 
I say this was an epic run because the 60 min @ 8:34 were extremely comfortable. Yeah, I was sweating but I was breathing through my nose the whole time. Mouth was completely shut. Heart rate felt very comfy and steady. Never once did I feel tired. Plus, I’m not marathon training quite yet, so this was one of the longest runs I’ve done this summer. Just cruised and before I knew it, 60 min were done and it was time to stop and cool down! Woo!👊🏼
If anything, I had to keep my mind busy and occupied during this run because I was on a treadmill staring at the wall with no windows anywhere🤣 But the ease of the pace made me happy so the entire run flew by. 
Followed up with 15 min of leg strengthening and then FOOD. Duh😁🤗

Ever stalk your own Instagram hardcore and get super motivated? I do🙋🏼‍♀️and I did this morning. I was in the kitchen about to make breakfast, but then started reading over my posts from this spring. And instead of making breakfast, I decided to go for a run right then and there🏃🏼‍♀️Breakfast could wait! (I know, I live on the wild side😜) I get super motivated by all of you, but honestly, there’s nothing like looking back on yourself and all the progress YOU’VE made! Be proud of how far you’ve come and excited about where you’re going😍You are your biggest cheerleader! (4.5 easy miles @ 10:53 avg pace).

¿A que huele mi hogar? Se me pregunta.

Me evado y recuerdo que huele a piedra mojada de río sereno, a arena caliente y naranja cuando llega el anochecer, a hierba seca de la pradera movida por el aire fresco de la sierra y al suave manto de mo que crece en los árboles a las orillas del pantano oscuro, incluso diría que huele a nube violeta por la mañana al despertar.

Mi hogar se escucha como el canto del pájaro a media tarde para dormir o como el agua de arroyo chapoteando bajo mis pies descalzos, se escucha como el grillo que le rinde pleitesia a la luna y se escucha como una orquesta en medio del bosque si sabes escuchar todos los instrumentos.

Mi casa se siente como agua gélida que baja por las colinas del valle, como la colcha de césped que baña estas tierras, lo toco como la sombra que me calma a los pies de un olivo.

Mi lar, mi morada, está allí donde se encuentre la brisa que acuna a un sauce llorón, donde los rayos de luna que me visiten cruzando la noche. Puedo sentirlo a través de la bóveda de estrellas que penden del cielo impidiendo a la oscuridad cernir la tierra.

¿A que huele mi hogar? Se me pregunta. Me evado y recuerdo que huele a piedra mojada de río sereno, a arena caliente y naranja cuando llega el anochecer, a hierba seca de la pradera movida por el aire fresco de la sierra y al suave manto de mo que crece en los árboles a las orillas del pantano oscuro, incluso diría que huele a nube violeta por la mañana al despertar. Mi hogar se escucha como el canto del pájaro a media tarde para dormir o como el agua de arroyo chapoteando bajo mis pies descalzos, se escucha como el grillo que le rinde pleitesia a la luna y se escucha como una orquesta en medio del bosque si sabes escuchar todos los instrumentos. Mi casa se siente como agua gélida que baja por las colinas del valle, como la colcha de césped que baña estas tierras, lo toco como la sombra que me calma a los pies de un olivo. Mi lar, mi morada, está allí donde se encuentre la brisa que acuna a un sauce llorón, donde los rayos de luna que me visiten cruzando la noche. Puedo sentirlo a través de la bóveda de estrellas que penden del cielo impidiendo a la oscuridad cernir la tierra. It can be as simple as deciding that after 6 months of working out regularly, you deserve a new yoga mat of better quality than the $10 squishy, stretchy mat you bought on Amazon 2 years ago when you couldn't afford anything else. (Ok, this is obviously a very specific example. 😉) Whatever the thing is that EXCITES you and brings you JOY or PEACE just to think about it but you've been denying yourself for too long -- say it out loud, stop denying yourself, and ✨ indulge.✨

First of all I’m sorry I couldn’t find the exact same pose to compare - the reason is because I wasn’t the most confident in my own skin in the past, so obviously I didn’t save a lot of pics that showed my tummy and all that (I don’t think I even owned a crop top tbh lol... 😳🙈)

I feel like the 2016 pic embodies my lifestyle at the time. That wasn’t the greatest year for me - I used to drink, smoke and party quite a bit 🍻 (even though that’s not really who I am as a person). Not saying there’s anything inherently bad about these things (except maybe smoking lol unhealthy 🚫), but I was using them as an escape because I was unhappy and dissatisfied on the inside, and hey, this is what everybody else my age just does I guess, right? I used to care so much about seeing pounds drop from the scale. I did eventually "achieve" my goal weight of 120 lbs at one point, but you know what else came along with that arbitrary number?

🔹My lifts were compromised
🔹I lost strength & stopped making gains
🔹I would often get light-headed + dizzy (from under-eating) while exercising, cutting my training sessions short and crying, frustrated, in the car...

Trying to maintain "a number" can restrict you from progressing, in my opinion. I've technically gotten HEAVIER since the left pic was taken (still seems SO weird to me lol), but I've never felt more energetic, lean, and light on my feet. 🤸🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️

I wasn't meant to be my #StrongestSelf at my goal weight. That would've bothered me a year ago, but that's just fine with me now. 😋 Whether I realized it or not, I used to train to stay skinny. 😅 Now I'm training to be strong. 💪🏼️️️️"

Today is a monumental day. First time I’ve worn a racer back style shirt to the gym since before I got pregnant. Though I still haven’t reached all my fitness goals I really gotta take a second and breath a little sigh of relief. I’m not always nice to myself about the weight I gained during pregnancy.... but losing somewhere around 50ish lbs in around a year and a half is an accomplishment. The female body is a crazy thing. I grew and birthed a human and am now a physically stronger person. That’s the part that’s most crazy to me. I lift heavier than I ever have, and even though I still have more fat than id like I still have more muscle definition than I have ever had. And I can feel it too. And isn’t that what this journey is about? Strength. Aesthetics are great and all.... but the strengths what matters long run. So anyway.... today I celebrate my body. Because it’s about damn time.

First of all I’m sorry I couldn’t find the exact same pose to compare - the reason is because I wasn’t confident in my own skin in the past, so obviously I didn’t save a lot of pics that showed my tummy and all that (I don’t think I even owned a crop top tbh lol... 😳🙈)

I feel like the 2016 pic embodies my lifestyle at the time. That wasn’t the greatest year for me - I used to drink, smoke and party quite a bit 🍻 (even though that’s not really who I am as a person). Not saying there’s anything inherently bad about these things (except maybe smoking lol unhealthy 🚫), but I was using them as an escape because I was unhappy and dissatisfied on the inside, and hey, this is what everybody else my age just does I guess, right? Idk 😐

I did eventually "achieve" my goal weight of 120 lbs at one point, but you know what else came along with that arbitrary number? - 🔹My lifts were compromised 🔹I lost strength & stopped making gains 🔹I would often get light-headed + dizzy (from under-eating) while exercising, cutting my training sessions short and crying, frustrated, in the car... - Trying to maintain "a number" can restrict you from progressing, in my opinion. I've technically gotten HEAVIER since the left pic was taken (still seems SO weird to me lol), but I've never felt more energetic, lean, and light on my feet. 🤸🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️ - I wasn't meant to be my #StrongestSelf  at my goal weight. That would've bothered me a year ago, but that's just fine with me now. 😋 Whether I realized it or not, I used to train to stay skinny. 😅 Now I'm training to be strong. 💪🏼

A year ago (shit, even as recent as 6 months ago), I thought I NEEDED to see a decrease in the number on the scale to prove that I was making progress with this whole "fit" thing. After all, if the number wasn't changing... that meant my body wasn't changing either, right?
