The fire is lit 🔥🔥🔥 I have an uncle who is an incredible runner. He has a habit of making bets with my siblings and cousins regarding things that I’ve already accomplished (4.0 in college, sub 4 marathon), meaning I’m excluded from them. Yesterday he told me he’d give me 500 dollars if I could run a 3:45 marathon within the next 2 years. I am both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated, meaning I accept the challenge. 500 dollars will be nice, but so will proving that I can work hard and achieve whatever I put my mind to. I used to be oblivious to who I was. I had no idea of my daily actions, my habits, my thoughts and tendencies. I never stepped outside of myself to look at who I was and how I acted. I didn’t realize that I used to sulk and isolate myself for attention, that I compulsively ate, that I spread myself too thin, or that I let work consume me.

That’s when I learned about self-awareness and how it leads to a higher emotional intelligence (EQ). Higher EQ gives us the ability to monitor our emotions and thoughts, be at peace with who we are and managing our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
⠀
Having self awareness gives us knowledge about ourselves! The better we know ourself, the more we will be empowered to make changes, improve our strengths, and identify weaker areas where we would like to make improvements. Without recognizing these things, we can remain the same and get stuck in a cycle.

How do you expect to improve if you can even recognize who you currently are? If you don’t know where you are, how can you make a plan to get somewhere else?

The more self-aware you become, the healthier your mind & body can become. Want to gain positivity, get stronger, be more compassionate, empathetic & improve your quality of life? Be more self aware.

If you’re struggling with anything, I encourage you to dig deep and work on self awareness. Don’t expect to master these all at once. Pick one & work on it! Then pick another & work on that one. Soon, you’ll be better than you were yesterday. And in a month or two from now, you’ll be in a whole new place!

I’m so proud that my walking has improved a lot, this week is the first time outside of home without using the crutches a lot in 9 months. I was able to have a good workout session today & socialise & smile. Women support women at Fernwood!
 I know how important it is for my mental health & for my rehab. 4months post op.

Tried 2 new things this time. 1. Put plates beside the ab mat (hold on you purists🙅 before you say it's not at the same level, this a huge change from having no plates at all 🙋🤘🏽) and 2. Tried legless rope climbs halfway up the rope all 4 times!! Who am i?? 😆😲😬😱 It was a short and easy workout, so tried to push myself to attempt new things! I surprised myself a whole lot!!😂🤣 .

Again to quote Michelle Obama "There is no magic to achievement. It's really about hard work, choices, and persistence." Keep working at your weaknesses, it will take time but you will get there! Don't lose hope.

Ok I got myself here. It’s Thanksgiving morning now. Was floating between 230-235 forever. Gonna do my best to eat clean very clean today. I’ve got goals I want to smash and I can’t get to them if I eat like a pig 🐖 all the time. So growing up I absolutely hated my legs!! They were too big for my pre-teen and teen body 😱😱 and the media represented big legs like mine as problematic! 
Then I started training, following @followthelita @brigittegoudz @rahkigiovanni And realised yo, my legs are still a problem. They didn't have enough shape, size or definition! Now I be putting in work and absolutely loving the results!!!
This new program constructed by @williams.falade means #legday is 3x a week as I'm focusing on each of the three groups.

Sometimes we do a 7 minute meter challenge at the end of class. AT THE END, when we are tired. My work on generating more power with each stroke has really upped those meters. I think the first time I did maybe 800 meters. Grateful for Shira’s small corrections on form today. My short term goal is 100 meters every 30 seconds. Waking up this morning feeling bruised and broken I have a PT session in an hour with @bridge1983 
I could easily lie in bed but what would that achieve 🤷‍♀️the only way things will change is if you push yourself out of your comfort zone. 
Yes my body hurts but I also remember how it hurt before losing 4.5 stone and I never want that pain again. I’m still putting the work in to lose the weight gain I had whilst on holiday. 
Nothing is achieved by talking about or thinking about being active. The only way to change is to keep pushing forward get up of your arse and ‘get shit done’

Came out a little shaken at first but once we were comfortable and started raging, sending Pr’s ,finished strong with a 2.5 times body weight deadlift & 6 kgs off 2 times body weight squat. 1. The fashion today was exceptional 👌🏻 and 2. I had to say goodbye to these leggings after today. The knees are baggy and they slide down. My final goodbye to xl workout pants! Also, I wanted to say something. I don’t think I’ll ever look like a fitness model and that’s because I’m not one. I’m just a woman who’s trying to make fitness a priority and to encourage others to do the same. So don’t expect pictures of my butt or me thrusting out my chest in a bikini. Anyway, I keep all those on my private page 😉. No hate for anyone doing those things, it’s just not me. I also don’t want the focus to be on how my body looks, I care more about what it can do. I have stretch marks, and scars, and wobbly bits on my inner thighs but I can lift some heavvvvvy stuff! Cool✌🏻

The impressive part of this feat is that only about 2000 steps were at the grocery store. Everything else was in my tiny apartment, primarily in the kitchen preparing tomorrow’s feast. 😳

I even took several stretch & foam roll breaks to alleviate my back pain from being on my feet for 14 hours. .
And the best part? It’s only me, the hubby & my mom for thanksgiving. I might be able to feed a small army!

Barbell box squats 🏋🏻‍♂️🦵🏻/ Last body weight 147.5 lbs which also had an increase in Lean Body Mass which now is 119.7 Goal for now is get to 150lbs and once there keep it going higher. Can’t believe I’m here with 147 lbs when a year ago I was 120. 🍗
