Phew...passed another Monday yesterday. And guess what?! It was busy, but I found some flow in it. Although I had not slept well during the night, getting up was kind of easy. Also, I had to...Monday meeting at 8AM sharp.  With cycling to work, a good 45 min ride I even felt fresh and focused. Sleep deprived as I was I even managed to attend a yoga class that was really tough I have to say😄 proud I survived it. Today getting up early felt easy and I had some kind of morning routine (I know, routine may not be the right word here, routine is something you do REGULARLY, Katharina. But one thing after the other!). Maybe it was that strength and focus that I gathered yesterday from that class. If you want to change something, creating that picture in your mind first brings you closer to an easy start. Don't put any rules on you, though...just go with the flow and see what happens. I love to watch myself, the processes I undergo and the progress these bring. It's easier to just do things without a lot of thinking! Early bird in the making🤣

I typically always start with determining whether or not they can sustain a pelvic tilt and I like using the ball for additional external cuing. I’ll often place one hand under their low back and tell them press their low back into my hand. I also make sure they’re able to breathe while performing this exercise.

1️⃣ Pelvic tilt with ball press crunch - people with low back pain will usually present with a directional preference (typically flexion or extension). While this doesn’t give you everything, it does give you a place to start. This version works ok core bracing with flexion as I cued her to sustain pressure into the ball while crunching upward.

This challenge is from @joehuntfit and it is simply to see how many ring dips you can do in a row! These things are tricep 🔥🔥‼️ I only remember being able to do 6 of these on the TRX last time I tried, but I was pretty surprised I was able to get 14 (if you count that last awful one). 😂 Although Joe got 30 so that puts me to shame! Lol 👊🏼

Abdominal crunches alone will not get you a six pack. As you can see in this diagram they primarily work the upper abdominal muscles with the action consisting of a raising of the shoulder blades with a tucked chin to fixate the workload in this area 🔥

Crunches will help strengthen and develop the upper abdominals, however they will not burn fat stores in this area, as unfortunately we can't isolate fat burning.

The bottom line is; ab crunches build strength for the muscles to aid towards getting a six pack but on their own will only strengthen, not improve external appearance, if you have a high body fat percentage.

In video number 2 and 3 I shared my favorite In home ab circuit that would make your core 🔥. No equipment is required . 
1. Single leg reverse crunch- make sure to keep your ribs down and flatten the lower back while tapping the floor with your heel. Then, lift your hips off the floor to get that lower ab contraction.

2. Walk outs- ribs down. Core braced. Do not allow the hips to sag, pike or rotate throughout the movement. Take a breath when you’re extended on the floor and then come back up. .
3. Seesaw pushup plank- make sure your core is braced and your body is in straight line form feet to head. .
4. Side plank thread the needle- rotate torso and hips while keeping your core braced. .
5. Feet elevated side raise- bent at the hips and use your obliques and come back up into a straight line.

Day 19 of the yoga challenge is side plank or #vasisthasana against the wall. We often tip forwards to try to hold onto the foot and the wall reminds you of where your leg should be! My right hip is considerably more flexible than my left, as you can see!
