Deadlifts for Days! I had a lot of fun this morning in an almost empty gym, thanks to the snow we got this morning. Today was heavy doubles. I had 210 programmed, but I got 205 for 8 last week. So I did 3 sets at 210, 1 set at 225 (1st video) and 1 set of 4 at 240 (2nd video). I am officially increasing my training max to 240 and adjusting my program weights for the next 4 weeks accordingly. Third video is speed deadlifts at 185. ✨CORE REHAB✨ It’s been 3 months since my appendectomy, so when I was still feeling discomfort/soreness in my abs after each gym session I was confused and frustrated. I did a lot of research and decided to try rehabilitating the muscles rather than avoiding them. I put together a short core rehab routine, and FINALLY my abdominal discomfort and soreness is improving!! 🙌🏻 (It’s insane how difficult these exercises were the first time I tried them!) Switching up your workouts with bands, a medicine ball, kettlebells or  a TRX is great for your body!

It causes  your muscles to recruit  differently, and I find it helps to relieve boredom.

The TRX is one of my favourite ways to train besides free weights.  It’s versatile and so effective.

This exercise really helps you build a strong back.  It hits your upper back, shoulders, core and obliques.

Do 3 sets with a rep range of 12 reps per side.

TIPS TO REMEMBER:
1. Use your back muscles to lift and lower pull yourself; this not an arm exercise
2. TRX should be mid-length
3. Change your foot position to make the exercise easier or more challenging
4. Engage your core throughout the whole movement
5. Lower yourself slowly; don’t drop your body down

It’s been a busy week of classes... and I’m super proud of the effort everyone puts in. We work so , so hard but achieve great things.
Sometimes  ambitious I know... but I have so much confidence in everyone that I feel we can set higher challenges, work towards them and succeed ✅💚😁 We’ve been working towards this ‘flow sequence’ for the past couple of weeks... breaking down the components into small, bite sized pieces ( they are not easy even on their own) and managed to complete ( and brilliantly) this difficult combination of advanced Pilates exercise. 
This is a sneaky peek... and aren’t they amazing ? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✅✅👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

2️⃣Ball ups (these destroyed my abs last Saturday! Keep your hands placed under your butt and brace your abs as you move your knee from a floating straight position to crunch. Do with or without weight!)
3️⃣Cable crunch (make sure your back is flat when doing any back laying core moves!)

Doing laundry...engaging my core & hamstrings. I learned something new in my yoga training. As you are bent over, keep your back arched to protect your back but make sure you pull your abs in too. 🌟And, pull in the lower ribs ever so slightly! This makes all the difference! So your upper back fills out a tiny bit. I was arching too much in yoga causing stress in my low back, but when I pull in the lower ribs (1/4 inch or like a mini crunch), it feels perfect...no pain or discomfort at all. 🌟 Keeping your lower back healthy & strong means a healthy, active life!! •

🤔 In your daylife when you are skating in the park, holding your 🐕, carring your 🧳 trip or simple movement to open a door, your core need to be strong to handle the torque without leading to pain and injury.

💡 what we are talking about is:
ANTI - FLEXION
ANTI - ROTATION
ANTI - LATERAL FLEXION
In the video you can see tree core exercises that increase your strength, stability.
1️⃣ PLANK TOUCHING FRONT
- Forearms on the ground
- Elbows aligned below the shoulders arms parallel
- Toes into the floor
- Squeeze glutes and quads
- Slowly touch with one hand in front of you without moving the hip
Programming: 3 sets of 30” - 45” rest 30”
2️⃣ PALLOF PRESS
- parallel to the resistance band or cable machine
- Position your self a few feet away to add tension
- Bring the band up to the center of your chest
- Press out arms fully extended (breathe out and hold 2”)
- Return your hands to your chest
Programming: 3 sets of 8-12 reps, rest 30”
3️⃣SIDE PLANK ROW (advanced)
- attach a handle to the resistance band and lie on your side, facing it
- grab the band with your top hand
- Raise up the hips, straight knees, upper body propped on your elbow and forearm
- Pull the band to your rib cage (breath out) and keep your hips pushed up and forward
- Slowly extend you arm
Programming: 3 sets of 8-12 reps each rest 30”
