Every workout I begin with external oblique openers. I LOVE THEM! 😍I’ve progressed from an 8kg KB to now a 20kg with leg raises. I love feeling the difference it makes in my every day life and also my awareness of, and strength in my core whilst I am training. 🙌

His first comment was “you cut the mane” 💇🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♀️ Why yes, I did...as most know a woman chopping her hair often  symbolizes more than just a cut... It was time to cut off “deadweight” in many aspects in my life... time for new healthy growth 🙌🏻He smiled then said “tell me what your training for, because you can tell you’re getting ready for something”... I smiled, and said “I’m actually not. I’m living, I’m eating, I’m working out and I’m happy” 😊

STRESS - This time of year is packed full of extra activities, expectations & commitments. We are out late, up early, surrounded by more than enough food & alcohol and well let’s face it, there is the always lingering to do list. These are all forms of stress. To reduce this stress maybe we should all STOP for a second, take a deep breath and put some time aside to take it all in & simply remember that we don’t need to become our surroundings. It simply requires us to make a choice. With that in mind let’s all try and prioritize our time well, invest in our mental health, be kind to our bodies and enjoy the company of family and friends.

Out here looking like a Christmas decoration post-lift. Dead’s felt like shit today (swipe ⬅️ for proof). 240 was a big jump for 4’s (should have been around 225-230), but I was feeling ambitious. Form looks more rough than it felt.... I definitely was driving through the heels and core was engaged properly, despite how messy these look. It’s cool. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The rest of the workout was tough, but we made it through and bench (5x5 at 105 - 80% of my 5 rep) felt great. One more heavy week in #Uplifted and then week 8 is a deload. Going to start programming for myself again lifting-wise come January, but will be utilizing this type of format going forward because I dig it a lot. End of January I’m going to do a heavy singles test on all four major lifts, and I’m looking forward to building until then. 🤘🏼💪🏼

My legs are fucking toast because it ended with a 100 calorie bike which I think nearly ended my life. Being dramatic, but you get the picture. I almost didn’t post this video for a million silly reasons that are mostly all made up in my own head. My body has been through hell these past few months and I’m honestly just excited to be able to move again. Being able to run and lift weights again has been a dream come true! It looks simple enough, right? Sometimes it’s the easy ones that are the hardest. I like simple because it means there’s less thinking and more doing. Simple works.

When I design workouts I purposely aim to make them easy to follow. No need to have 10 exercises and all 10 be moves you’ve never heard of. When I introduce new moves, I might introduce just 1 at a time in a workout, why? To take out the thinking part and allow more of the doing part.

Call me crazy but it’s not fun to stand around going, “What’s next? What was that again?”

But that’s just me… do you like workouts with tons of different exercises or do you like workouts with just a few moves to focus on at a time?

Last week I was working with a client who wanted to learn front squats. Now as most people know the typical front squat involves the barbell resting on the front of the shoulder with the elbows driving up and forward. We quickly realized that his wrists wouldn’t allow for such an extreme angle and he was rather disappointed. That’s when I decided to refer to my wrist mobility exercises from my Animal Flow course. These 5 are great to do regularly, especially for officer workers who spend many hours typing over a desk.
1. Wrist Circles - palms together circling the wrists
2. Quadruped Finger away from Body - make sure the finger are super flat against the floor, shifting forward and backwards at first, then moving in circles
3. Quadruped Fingers towards each other - same as the second
4. Quadruped Finger away from each other -same as the second
5. Quadruped Finger towards the body - ONLY SHIFT FORWARD AND BACKWARD, do not try circles because it puts too much strain on the wrist

Do you avoid being in pictures? Not looking at yourself in the mirror or at the number on the scale during your annual check-up?

It takes a lot of energy to keep hating your body.

Fortunately, there's another way.

You can free your mind of the negative self-talk so you can actually develop the tools necessary to make real, lasting change.

Mindset first. Physique follows.

When we decide to do this, seeing our reflection in the mirror doesn't have to be a painful or scary experience nor does it have to control our day and how we feel about ourselves.

You can look at your body in an objective way. You can get real without getting upset.

You don't have to be Photoshop perfect to be worthy. And you don't have to lose 10lbs to be happy.

The concepts are no longer tied together once we spend time working on our relationship with ourselves.

Your physique is not the only thing you have to offer the world. There is meaning to discover and create elsewhere.

Maybe you'll find it in learning a new language or a musical instrument. For me, it's been in writing and starting a small business. And most recently, jiu jitsu.

Instead of obsessing over your body, be an amazing parent, sibling or partner. Go bike riding, focus on non-physique related activities like rock-climbing, paddleboarding or a Tough Mudder.

There are infinite ways to feel like you are contributing and are worthy that have zero to do with your body fat percentage and everything to do with your awesome, unique mind. ♥️

Some people are for em, some are against em, I say do whatever you want lol! Either way, I actually LOVE my new @esteemslimwear waist shaper. It’s really well made in comparison to some others I’ve used and the compression is good/even and not pinchy in certain spots! 
Some waist training tips: never use within 30 min after eating, try to avoid training in them (cardio is ok) as they do stabilize a lot and it’s important to allow your core to stabilize itself you so you don’t become weak there, wear 3-8hr daily depending on your goal and tolerance level!
