Series 3 Day 1: Emotions
The next topic we will be exploring for a few days is emotions and emotional regulation. Let’s start off with what does emotional regulation even mean?
We all have overwhelming and challenge emotions to deal with. However, as we get older, the expectations on how we manage these emotions increases. Emotional regulation can be summed up as the ability for someone to manage these challenging (often viewed as negative emotions- example: anger, frustration, or anxiety) and not allow them to drive our behaviours or interactions.
Reflection: How do you feel you are at managing and/or regulating your emotions?
Is it more difficult with your stress or exhaustion levels?
Emotioneel: prikkelbaar, onzekerheid, slapeloosheid, desinstresse, lusteloosheid.
Lichamelijk: zweten, gewichtstoename/afname, pijn op de borst, hoofdpijn, duizeligheid.
Motoriek: rugpijn, spanning nek/schouders, moe gevoel, spanningshoofdpijn.
Verstandelijk: vergeetachtig, inspiratieloos, piekeren, besluiteloos.
Gedrag: onderpresteren, agressie, sociale isolatie, huilen, slaappillen gebruik, intolerantie. *
Zou jij ook eens naar de stressklachten die jij ervaart willen kijken? Want je merkt dat het écht z'n tol begint te eisen. Sta echt even stil!
There can be no darkness where I provide the light. 🙇🏽♀️ #AffirmationOfTheDay
Check out today's post over at @mbundyconsulting - I shared how affirmations are powerful TOOLS to help free us from negative thoughts, talk, and actions!
🐥What is your evening routine? (Other than Netflix I mean) How do you wash away a long day at work? Some love to take a long bath... I personally prefer a quick 🚿 and spend a few extra minutes hydrating my face often exposed to aircon and lack of water (am working on it!). An good evening routine can alleviate the day’s stresses, enables you to unwind whilst nurturing your soul so that in turn you get a good repairing sleep 😴 #night#unwind#sleep
Holy smokes, folks. It's been a helluva week, and it's only Tuesday.
The more stressful life and parenting get, the more I need to amp up my self-care so I don't lose my shit.
This morning it was a walk in the sunshine and fall leaves while listening to a super juicy murder mystery. Oh yeah.
I certainly feel a difference with these little guys...more energy, less brain fog, better equipped to handle stress. If you haven’t tried the risk-free, 90 day challenge yet, what are you waiting for? Vitality awaits... 🌿
If you are subscribed to my newsletters (and if you aren’t you should totally do so by clicking the link in my bio!) then you know I love to share fun, exciting, and beneficial events/products/things that I personally use and find valuable. I figure, if something brings value to my life, why be selfish and keep it all for me? Why not share it, as others may find value in it as well.
So, when @yasminessa was looking for #bloggers to #review her GLOW Academy courses, I hopped right on the opportunity.
I’ve been following Yasmin for a while, and really started getting inspired once I began listening to her #podcasts . So when she chose me for the task, I was super excited to dig into one of her courses and share my honest opinion with you.
From first glance I can say that I love the array of #holistic course topics. There are so many amazing themes to choose from, from #fitness to #nutrition to #stressmanagement and #selfcare , all the way to boosting #confidence and #entrepreneurship the #Prophetic way.
As #timemanagement and #overwhelm have been central themes in my life as of late, I plan to try out her course on “Women’s Self-Care and Rejuvenation for His Sake.” After learning just how important self-care is to #healing#PCOS , I’m hoping to learn some new tactics that can help me become a better caregiver to myself, in shaa Allah.
Stick around for a couple more posts as I navigate through the program, in shaa Allah.

You ever feel like you do all the right things, the things “you’re suppose to do,” yet still feel stuck?
Iv been meditating a lot lately..when I say a lot, it’s relative to me and my schedule which is usually 10 minutes a day but sometimes 5 or one minute if my schedule gets too out of control. .
Without a doubt, the more frequent I meditate, the better I am to be more objective from moment to moment, handling the various challenges that arise. .
Yet certain things happen that annoy the shit out of me and I react emotionally. Like yesterday, did my routine and felt great then had some business stuff come up n knock me off track. .
But because of making meditation a daily practice, I’ll go back to my breath in these moments and sometimes come to my senses but at the very least I’ll feel better. .
What iv realized (and need to remember) is that the goal is not to be perfectly rational & zen 💯 of the time as that’s just not possible. .
The goal is to quickly recover, to recognize when you get off track, get back to your breath and to do your best to enjoy moment to moment and adjust to what comes your way, rather than wish “what could be.”
By the way, how sick is the mural behind me?! Found this while picking up trash in between classes today! .

Do you know what the number one obstacle in your way of achieving your goal-weight loss, muscle tone, eating better, creating a new habit—-whatever you are aiming for is?! 🤔
YOU! YOURSELF! 😳 You are your number one obstacle! Not your job, significant other, kids, pets, not having the time, the money...insert your favorite excuse here...NO! The number one obstacle in your way is YOU.
You are allowing your excuses to hold more weight than your goals. You are allowing your excuses to keep you from making yourself a priority. 😳 🛑STOP! 🛑 Stop it today! Get out of your own dang way! What’s the absolute worst thing that could happen when you finally do?! You lose that weight you’ve been wishing to lose forever, you get healthy, you inspire your family to get healthy, you set a positive example for your kids....sounds like a win-win to me!
Stress is something we all experience on a day to day basis. Sometimes stress can be a good thing because the adrenaline it gives us drives us towards our goals or tasks. However sometimes stress can be negative, it can cause negative physical symptoms like headaches or nausea, and psychological like avoidance, anxiety or anger.
This weeks post will be on how to manage stress and the benefits of stress management.
Managing stress is important and is extremely beneficial in reducing stress and also knowing how to take care of yourself during stressful periods. Managing stress can help you to think more clearly, function more effectively and enjoy life.

Stress has so much to do with your body’s inflammatory responses. Under stress, hormones are released from your neuroendocrine system. Mediators released from your immune cells, the same ones that are released with trauma or physical injury, are evoked and produce an inflammatory response*. However it manifests itself in or on your body, stress is one of those factors that can be so hard to manage. We are constantly bombarded with life “stuff” - work, kids, family, errands, broken relationships the list can go on. After a while, things can compound, showing up as inflammation, anywhere. My own stress lead to severe allergies to both drugs and food, eczema and rosacea. Managing stress, after years of not understanding the root cause of all my issues and the toll it took, put me on the path to getting better. .
What do you do to manage stress? How does your body react?
*(Ref: Cytokines, Stress and Immunity, Paul H. Black, Ari S. Berman).
There are limits of how much your body can handle, recover and adapt.
Yes, work HARD but don't forget to work SMART at the same time.

POP BUBBLE WRAP!!⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕
Spa-themed gift baskets and gift certificates for a massage are great, but sometimes something simple is just the thing.
Popping bubble wrap is relaxing, irresistible and sure to give someone a smile 😁
It’s also inexpensive; you might even have some lying around at home from opened packages. I love inexpensive, fun gifts!
Print In case of stress, pop bubbles gift tags and cut them out.
Punch a hole in the corner of each tag.
Unroll the bubble wrap and cut it into 4-inch strips.
Roll each strip and tie it up with ribbon and a gift tag
