People use any number of things as an excuse to not do something. “Oh, heavy squats and deadlifts caused (fill in the blank) to need knee surgery, back surgery, hip replacement, etc...”. Nonsense. Going too heavy, using improper form, not having someone who knows educate them, or just ignoring good training for ego....THESE things create problems and lead to issues down the road (or immediately) that require surgery. Get rid of your excuses, weight training benefits the body in almost every conceivable way...look further than your own bias.

ARE YOU ACCELERATING? I found out I’m decelerating too much at the top of my squat. The bands help but I may go lighter on bar weight and go back to greys. Let’s we how it works next cycle!

What a day. First comp went perfectly ending 9/9 with 27 white lights. 207.5kg/147.5kg/272.5kg @ 107kg BW. Definitely some left in the tank on squats & bench. Massive thanks to @swpowerlifting @swindon_barbell_club for running such a smooth event. Last night I found out some news no one wants to hear. My Grandma is in ICU. My only blood relative grandparent left alive and she's fighting a though battle.... 🙏
On to me. I openly admit I am a crazy MF and I do have some serious character faults I need to work on. I will always get better at what ever it is I do in life including my weaknesses. I'm not afraid to admit my shortcomings. You're lying to yourself if you say you have none. #strengthisneveraweakness
I ain't perfect but instead of letting a panic attack completely put me MIA from a scheduled session by getting drunk on a Friday night, I showed my ass up to the gym at midnight in tears and blasted some shoulder presses till I couldn't even pick up the barbell. Effective? Idk. Helpful to release tension, yes.
What I'm trying to get to here is that if you are the type of person with a lot of problems going on in life, the gym and the iron will always be there for you. Even the next day. Unlike that bottle of whisky that is gone that evening.
