Killer! 🔥  took this one from my boy @joshteves24 and let me tell you, PROPS to anyone who can complete this whole complex without stopping (or dying). Did the first three exercises then collapsed on the floor at almost 100% Max HR to find my soul (it didn’t want to come back btw). Got up a minute later and finished the next three exercises. Athletic performance from single leg work. A quick test today for max height single leg plyos. 6 months ago. I couldn’t get half this. Since all the single leg work I’ve been battering weekly ... this felt easy.  Both legs managed. Today some micro adjustments in my single leg RDL showed how leaks in the kinetic chain have downstream effects; compensation. Where the problem may be obvious, the solution may be hidden. I’ve been slowing down many of my movements to observe and re-assess. The result becomes  adjustments that make what seemed easy to be more difficult. That difficulty, which was once an obstacle now becomes a new strength.

Week 3 hits. He's a little bit sore, but that's okay. Soreness means growth, right?
Chest session no1 is hard. He gets out some good reps but can't make up the 5 sets on flyes, and decline, so reduces to 3.
Its alright, he'll make up for it on Thursday... Wrong. He's still fucked. He reduces everything to 4 sets, and just about makes it through. •
Now week 4 hits. The program actually finally asks to hit 5 sets on each exercise. He can't of course. He's fried. He still hasn't recovered from the last 3 weeks of 40+ chest sets per week. Meanwhile he has to completely back off the program. James probably goes back to scour bodybuilding.com for a different one, because this one "didn't work for him."

He started with an unsustainable volume. He didn't trust the program. The program followed the principles of progressive overload, and James pissed all over it. •
Start your mesocycle low, to finish high. Plan your periods of really high volume. If you don't trust the program, why are you doing it? •

OPTIMISE YOUR PERFORMANCE: 
Let’s be honest, no one, literally no one actually does the stretches you’re supposed to do after you train?

Why’s that? Probably because your coach or physio has told you that you that you need to be doing this every day for at least 10 to 15 minutes before and after each session. Or you could be so fucking busy with your work / social life that you want to get in and out ASAP. 
Now let’s get a few things straight. Realistically, you only need about 10 minutes to warm up which will create a significant impact on the muscles before and after you train. (5 minutes pulse raiser, 5 minutes active stretching AS) then 5 minutes of static stretching after you’ve finished smashing your body to pieces.

Why is is essential to stretch?
- It aids recovery so you’re muscles can grow quicker
- Prevents injury
- Enables the body to get out of the flight or fight response to go back into a relaxed state so you can start generating anabolic hormones.

There are soooooo many fucking benefits to stretching. 10 minutes out of your 14 hour day is not long at all. Get it done. Or you’ve only got yourself to blame if you fuck yourself up for not warming up properly.

NERD ALERT!  Sorry, but I’m going to geek out here a little bit.  This is an ultrasound image from a collegiate freshman Division I soccer player.  He “strained” his hamstring several days ago and has been limited by some pain and stiffness.  He came to see me yesterday for treatment to get back to practice and ready for the season.

I put “strained” in quotes, because I’m not sure that traditional definitions of soft tissue injuries hold true to what we are seeing and understanding of movement and dysfunction in today’s world.  Regardless, he has some nagging pain and discomfort in his hamstring. -
The top ultrasound picture is a pre-treatment image.  What I want you to note in the image is the fuzziness and lack of clearly defined lines through the fascial layers.  If you look at the arrows in the picture, you will notice that the fascial layers are somewhat bound together and fuzzy.  Most would define this as an adhesion or even a fibrosis.

If we define what we see in the ultrasound as an adhesion or fibrosis, then the typical treatment would be to “break it up.” This would be accomplished with intense manual treatment in an effort to mechanically deform tissue.  I have been guilty of this in the past, but have learned better ways. -
The bottom picture is post dry needling.  The treatment was very simple.  We placed 6 needles in the area and left them there for about 10 minutes.  After removing the needles, we took another look with the Ultrasound. -
Notice in the bottom picture that the fuzziness is gone and we now have clearly defined and separated fascial layers.  This allows for proper sliding and gliding of the tissue. -
If this is truly an adhesion or fibrosis, you cannot convince me that dropping a few needles in the area and letting them sit would “break it up.” Stecco would define what we are seeing here as densified tissue.  Densified tissue may look and feel like a fibrosis to some but it reacts like normal fascial tissue, which is why needling can affect how the tissue moves.

Let's warming up a little. Squat & Press and Overhead Squat with fitball can be used by our athletes to improve thoracic spine extension and back strength. In my opinion it's better to work with players in ankle and hip mobility before these exercises.

Anything that gets the blood circulating so the tight, sore muscles can loosen up, be flooded with nutrient rich blood and flushed out of all that waste the healing process has made 😨🤢 Got DOMS? So today was session 2 for Olympic lifting. Started with my usual warmup:

Deadlift
Pull from Mid-thigh
Power pull
3x10 Hip thrusts

3x5 Front squat
3x2 Sotts press

Then worked on the hang clean. Just trying to get the timing right with my wrists and driving my feet whilst trying to keep the bar close.

Hamstring strains are one of the most frequent injuries in sport. Hamstring injuries make up 12-16% of all injuries. 
Some of the main factors of hamstring injuries are decreased flexibility, strength deficits and muscle fatigue. 
There’s videos are several progressions you can use to strengthen the hamstring muscles to help reduce the chance of injury. 
If you have a previous or current hamstring strain I’d advice you see a sports therapist or physiotherapist before attempting any hamstring exercises to make sure further harm is not done.
