My first powerlifting meet was a massive success seeing some solid PBs on all my lifts and going 9/9 on the ⚪️⚪️⚪️
That day wouldn’t of been the same and would not of gone so well with out these two people beside me Zoe & Jacob.
Zoe is so supportive of the things I do and she was there the whole day, try putting a bikini girl in a room of powerlifters who after weigh-in constantly chomp their way through all the food in sight, she was camera 🎥 girl and always there to take my headphones 🎧 before going on to the platform and helping call the shots for 2nd & 3rd lifts- she’s very good at that when I am training and it’s very valuable on comp day to have some one be able to tell you what you’ve got left in the tank.
Jacob was pure gold he might of slightly bullied me into my first meet but he was there for every single set including warm ups. He’s been a massive help through my training and selecting my openers he knew what I wanted from that day and he managed to get me to achieve so much more than I had planned. He has so much passion for the sport it’s unreal. ◾️
When it comes to competition day you need to remove all the stresses you can to focus on what needs to be done and having these two with me for every step of the way meant I could let them take control of every thing else all I had to do was lift.
Leg day is more than just not being able to walk for the next 48 hours, its been proven that during big compound lifts such as the squat, growth hormones and testosterone are spiked, helping with strength and muscle growth.
Heres me squatting from yesterday, i could have got more reps, however didnt want to risk form or slip a fart.

After your prowler push add a TRX and pull. Drop down to a full squat with arms extended with your weight on your heels, stand up explosively and pull your elbows back past your hips. Load as much weight as possible on the prowler and be explosive!! Set a timer for 15 minutes, push one length, pull one length, rest for 30 seconds. Complete as many lengths as you can in the 15 minutes. Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

It's easy to get caught up in trying to use a leg press as a preacher curl or a laying hamstring curl as a pull up lol as we see on insta so many people trying to complicate things. Sometimes back to basics is where it has to Go!
One of these guys is training in our performance program and the other is training following a multi-level disc replacement. In both instances the basics of muscle physiology and strengthening apply...move weight and challenge your capacity. So many clinicians are afraid to train patients at a capacity that actually makes a difference. Having your patients sit or lie on a table and do 50 reps of some simple exercise is rarely going to convert over to any real functional gain. Push yourself to push your patients, both of you will be better off for it.
