Spent the past few days way out in the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness. It was utterly sublime. Patrick and I were the only two people on one of the lakes we portaged to, about 8 miles from the nearest road. We slept on an unnamed island. The only noises we heard were loon calls, and the night sky was so clear that you could see the haze from the Milky Way Galaxy. Get out there, and enjoy the public land that you own. And join @backcountryhunters. There is a lot of frightening legislation on deck right now that could see the elimination of vast tracts of public land, and BHA is leading the fight against it. Thank you Tara at @stregiscanoe for hooking us up with our canoe and maps. More pictures to follow. ...

Spent our 4th of July trekking through the St. Regis canoe area in the Adirondacks. First night on Horseshoe Pond, second night on St. Regis and third on Long Pond. Lots of great paddling (and a lot of carries!). #adirondacks#stregiscanoearea#canoe#july4th
A family favorite - 7 carries canoe/kayak trip (4 to 6 hours). This requires 2 cars drop off and pick up. Easy carries with canoe portage wheels (that we just so happen to have..) #stregiscanoearea#adk#campnorthernlightadk
