I was just about to battle my way through this cotinus (and very prickly rose bush out of shot) to tame my overgrown beech topiary when I just had to stop and take a deep breath and drink this sight in with the birds singing, the breeze fanning the leaves and the sun shining on the coral, green and gold. No Sam today or last week or the week before but I’m crossing my fingers he’ll be back next week. He’s absolutely fine but his aunt has been unwell.
