I bought “Casper” new in 2005. She served me well for 10 years, and was semi retired in 2014. I thought about selling her, but there are too many memories in those 250,000 miles. Time to be reborn..... #stealthcamper#vanlife#cargoconversion#boondocking
While we were traveling, through the end of each day, Petra took the wheel while i was look for camping spots on GoogleMaps to drive towards and check. Effective tool to find hidden isolated treasure spots like this one. It has even its own private beach :)
As u can see the traffic signs and roadblock on left, we were parking by a grassy road diving into lake, which is actually beginning of an ice-road; only active during winter to pass the frozen lake of Storsjön.
Best part of camping on wheels is ending and starting days at these perfect spots. This charming place was the beginning of an ice-road, only in use during winter to pass over the lake Storsjön. #theredcamper
First real #vanlife post - We bought a Van!!! We were losing hope on being able to get one before winter and then this Beauty popped up on our radar.
148" wb, Ecoboost, 3.31 lsd high roof, dual heavy duty battery, heavy duty alternator, modified wiring pckg, tow/trailer pckg, are amongst the more important items included.
We don't have a name for it yet, or anything else for that matter. We weren't expecting to have it in our possession so fast. Now I'm scrambling to get things together.
Our goal is to finish the absolute necessities for winter snowboarding trips by mid December. Here's my current thoughts:
1) Fan for airflow (maxxair)
2) Noico sound deadener
3) Heater (Webasto or Espar)
5) Temporary bed platform so we've got storage room underneath for boards/gear
Currently, I'm stuck on insulation and heat. I want to get the Espar B4, but I haven't seen any write ups installing that under the passenger seat for the Transit. I'm worried it won't fit! If not, I'd think the Webasto would be fine.
As for the insulation, I've read the entire interwebs on the subject and I still don't know which is best for us. We'll be using the van in both exteme cold and hot temperatures and I want to make sure we get this part right!
Any suggestions, thoughts, resources, or ideas for us?
This was our last boondocking spot before we hit the road in our vacation home / Subaru. We camped in a tent last night and we’ll continue to do so as we make our way back east. Payson has already mentioned the bus several times. She misses home, which is really pretty amazing when you think about what her home life is and how different it is from most other kids her age. She lives a simple life on the road without conventional ‘roots,’ and despite what many may think about our crazy lifestyle and the way we’re raising our daughter, two parents and a bus is what she calls home, and that’s all she needs. These next two months (without our home) will be challenging...but we obviously don’t mind a challenge. #buslife#buskids#skooliekids
