TRAINING FOR POWER 🔥🔥🔥
With physical inactivity and the normal aging proces, power has been shown to decline faster than strength which may interfere with many activities in daily living.
In a well balanced movement program we must learn how to accelerate and decelerate from different positions. There are a lot of soft tissue injuries related to an inability to slow down movements with momentum. Therefore we practise these movements in differents planes of motion.
In this drill our client @karla_basselier accelerates from an ‘odd’ position to a transverse hop to single leg balances. This drill promotes hip mobility & stability, improves tissue tolerance and coordination.
You want to train your POWER? Ask our coach @coach_davy91 for trying this out in a 1-1 session or coaching sessie HOW to implement this in your own workout 💪. #power#acceleration#deceleration#plyometrics#injuryprevention#transverseplane#succesfulaging#healthcoach#barefoot#jump#staycurious
Not so keen to whack your RRR sticker on your bumper? Well, you can always slap it on your laptop – or, do what @schaakmusic has done, and stick it on the power supply of your pedal board. Works pretty nicely with those hand-drawn electrified vibes, courtesy of our #Radiothon18 artist @amyjean_, don’t you reckon? Looking at the future and wondering what's waiting for me there. Are you more scared or excited about what's in stre for you in the future? These days I am absolutely terrified of where this road will take me, but I guess I don't have the word "hope" tattoeed on my back for nothing...?
• CAN WE DO BETTER? • These words of wisdom from Maya Angelou spark all kinds of questions for me...at the centre of which is the question of what it means to do ‘better’. From the point of view of self-criticism, a piece of insight like this meme could create a field day of inner cruelty about our failure to ‘improve’. If, however, we take Maya Angelou’s words from a strengths-based perspective, then we could approach this with the understanding that we all have within us a capacity for growth, so compassion then becomes an appropriate response to support us in honestly assessing where we can ‘step up’. When we practice compassionate self-study it allows us to identify our strengths and look openly and curiously at the places where we could grow beyond old patterns that hold us back. Essentially, Maya Angelou is calling us forth into our capacity to keep growing. Not through cruelty and self-criticism, but through honest and tender self-observation. This is what yoga philosophy refers to as svadhyaya. The practice of honest self-enquiry in the spirit of shedding old ways and growing into our full-hearted selves. When I read this quote in this light, my questions settle and I can rest with the idea of doing ‘better’.
It’s saffron season. Fall sets in and the saffron crocus blooms at my house till the really cold weather sets in. 69,999 more and I’ll have a pound of saffron stigmas. Colorful, tasty and pricey spice. $7/g =$3000/lb. No I don’t have any extra. I get 3-5g a year. All hand harvested #staycurious#retirementincome ?
Whether we like it or not, the cold weather is upon us...do you have the post-summer blues, too? 😔
Though it’s easy to dwell on the chilly temps ahead, instead let’s celebrate + embrace this seasonal change by using it to reflect on how your year is going so far. Think about what you want to accomplish in this next phase and if you need to start making changes in order to reach your goals.

A stillness here that reminds us what we all long for. A sense of calmness, tranquility, and balance that we crave. An appreciation for the simple things that shape us and ground us when we take the time to acknowledge their presence and importance. All these feels and more when we’re near the ocean. #📷 by our Chapter I muse @laureltoma #ocinlimitless#ocinfortheoceans
The students have adopted a small plot(or quadrat) in our schoolyard. We have learned how biotic (living)and abiotic things (nonliving) need each other to survive. Each month the students observe their same quadrat and look for changes over time. This is our second month and the focus is: What questions do you have about your quadrat? #mbaqed#science#secondgrade#schoolyardquadrats#staycurious#biodiversity
The view from our hotel in Canmore, Alberta this weekend was incredible! Especially since we've been to the top of one of those peaks!! ⛰️
What's you're favourite view from a hotel?! City? Mountains? Beach?
