Quad Stretch Modification 👆🏽| protect your knees 🙏
Here’s an awesome quad stretch that won’t leave your knees screaming in pain 😩
I used to think it’d be so cool if I could sit all the way down in a “W” position ... until I learned it can give your knee tissues issues 👎🏽
My teacher during MT school showed me this cheeky stretch and it has been my go to ever since.
Grab a chair with enough distance between the floor and your back knee (mine is a lil low) - if your worried about your balance grab another chair/stick/pole/ledge to support yourself.
1. Get in lunge position with back foot up. Keeping front knee behind front toes at 90 degrees.
2. Start to drop back knee straight down to the floor. (Lower to the floor = ☝🏽increases intensity) KEEP RIBS in and TUCK HIPS under. This will target your quad muscles. Changing the angle of the back knee will increase the stretch of a specific quad muscle.
👉🏽 If you bring the knee away from the body you should feel a stretch in the inner thigh. If you bring the knee in towards the body you should feel a stretch in the outer thigh.
3. “Play with the angles” - by bringing your arm up and over the top leaning away from the quad being stretched, you can stretch multiple muscle groups and get more bang for ya buck 🤑
