Yeah I thought I was being funny but I just look old 😂 ANYWAY. What can I say about this guy @dloadingv... it’s been a long season and it started with convincing him to have surgery on his toe, meaning he’d miss the start of the season and have to go through a long and lonely rehab process. He did that and kept smiling and kept talking in that trash fake American accent ✅ then right when he was looking good and starting to race, he pulled his hamstring. More time with medical and with s&c. But again he put in the hard work and here we are ✅ My final day with Speedworks as the season ends, and it couldn’t be on a higher note, the guy went and ran a PB💨 @dele would be proud (of him not me) Onwards and upwards and faster! Glad to have played a part and thoroughly enjoyed my time heading up medical for a great group like @speedworks.charity under the guidance of @m_s_training and alongside @liammistry_s_c 💪🏽💪🏽 and @purus_active - we’ve had some great interns this year @paddidash @jolopezosteopath @jennie_holmes @francis_on_a_bike @dushanejoshua @joelkeefe and the German machine @cmontague97 - it’s been a pleasure working with you all! The beginning of today’s session. #Squats 5x3 @ 140kg (4 sets) 145kg (last set). The depth does diminish slightly as the sets progress, so that’s a point I need to pick up on over the coming weeks.

A very nice example of what the #acupuncture twitch response can do to the needle, these things are highly flexible more than difficult break, out of the thousands of needles I've used this is only the 4th bend I've ever seen!

The twitch response is the #muscle reacting to needle with a contraction of varying #strength before it then begins to release the tension being held.
Also known by Eastern acupuncturists as the Qi response or release of energy.

5 month’s after fracturing her spine @josefingyllensward is back on the massage table! 🙌🏽 Surprisingly the fracture was at the front of Josie’s spine, so we’re still having to take treatment very slowly and working within Josie’s comfort zone. 
Her upper body has compensated for the fracture in the lumbar region, and were currently working on loosening all trap fibres, levator scapulae and supraspinatus muscles. His passion for massage first came about after a personal injury in the Armed forces. 
After requiring intensive treatment, he gained information and knowledge from the specialists during rehabilitation. 
He understands the psychological effects that acute and chronic pain can play. 
It gives Matt a great sense of satisfaction when a client’s pain is relieved and their physical performance is improved. 
He appreciates that every client is different and is constantly striving to improve his knowledge and expertise by keeping up to date with current research and techniques.

Muscles are the drivers of movement.  They keep us up standing, enable us to move and walk, and maintain our posture. Through the course of the day the muscles become fatigued, full of lactic acid and as a result they begin to feel tight and stiff. The stiffness is really a response from the nervous system and results in further tightening of the back muscles. one of the best ways to alleviate it is to apply manual therapy techniques, like sports massage therapy. Passively mobilising the muscles helps to improve small blood vessel circulation, de-sensitise the nervous system and restore the muscles back to their flexible state. Essentially, the stroking and manipulation of the tissues helps to drive the release of endorphins.  This settles the nervous sensitivity and gives the feeling of the muscles becoming less tight and sore.
