Sometimes I sing, too! Every year at my musical theater camp, @argeliavanessa and I always sing a song for our kiddos. Here’s a #flashback to our soundcheck this past summer singing “Falling Slowly” from ONCE!
It’s FRI-YAY🌟 can’t wait to go home tonight and make our fun Halloween dinner (shoutout to everyone who voted🙌) and carve our pumpkins! — wearing the cutest tee from @weareteachers

Parent-teacher conferences were last night and I loved getting to meet with all of my families! I always ask them to write a tiny note to their child before they leave so that I can place it at their table for a sweet Monday morning surprise! (teacher PD day today) It’s a great reminder that every child in your classroom is someone’s entire world. ❤️ Have you had conferences yet?

No preworkout, no problem! It's the mindset you need. Yes, the preworkout helps, but your mindset is what allows you to do what you need to do even when you dont want to.
When I first started working out, my will was my preworkout! My desire for change motivated me. If you're there, let your mindset be your driving force. You don't need gadgets and pre workouts to do the trick for you. The first obstacle we all need to tackle is our mindset. How many times have you heard, "I know I need to workout and eat better, but I just don't want to!"??????? How many times have you said that? I said that a few times myself. Don't let your fear or your excuses stop you. Start today!
You. Are. Worth. It.
I used to avoid the full length mirror! When I looked in that long mirror all I saw were ALL my flaws on every part of my body. I’ve actually heard you have a pretty face if only you’d lose a few pounds. All that outside noise create really bad noise in my one head about what my body looked like or what I thought it looked like. The cellulite would pop, the roll would knock me in the face, and the sagging skin would hit the floor. So you can understand why I didn’t love seeing it in full in that mirror. .
It wasn’t until I really started taking a good hard look at my mindset that i realized how horrible this noise and negative self talk was. How bad it was for my body and mind. I started making changes. Noticing all the good in my body. What it does for me, how strong it is, and how good it looks. Slowly my mind started to shift and I saw all the good, I believed all the good! All that other noise is much much quieter!
Now when I walk past a full length mirror, I take a peak and am pretty damn happy with the reflection!
This shopping activity is a great way to work on vital life skills. With two shops to choose from it’s a great way to encourage students to make choices and compare prices. There is so much included in this pack and you’re students are going to love it! 😍 You can find it on my TpT by clicking the link in my bio or on my website teachingautism.co.uk 🌟
Today we practiced our cutting and oral motor skills to make some Halloween craft. Just got to add a mouth on the white ghosts! We talked about what it is and that not everyone in Australia celebrated it and had a lively discussion about what we’d want to dress up as 🎃.
It is so easy to blow it off! I have found myself in a bit of a rut lately! For 15 months I was full steam ahead, nutrition on point and never missing a workout-then the school year started and I got completely overwhelmed and fell off the wagon and had a little trouble getting back above water! Listen, this shit ain’t easy, but I’ve worked too hard to fall back into bad habits! For the past few weeks I wake up and tell myself today I’ll be on point and I only actually achieved that goal 50% of the time. Well if you only put in half the work, you only get half the results! I worked so hard to lose those 70 pounds and I’m not willing to give up on myself! That weight and that miserable feeling is NOT coming back my way! I checked that shit at the door! I’m not willing to backslide down that hill!
I listened to a “call” today and the subject was “Show the F Up!” It was awesome because it was just what I needed to kick my ass into gear! If I want to look better and be better and feel better - than I better show up! I did it for 15 months and I’m doing it again! I am so much happier and healthier, emotionally, mentally, and physically, when I make the time everyday! Today I SHOWED UP and tomorrow I’ll show up and the day after that I’ll show up too because my kids need a healthy mom, my school needs a healthy administrator, my friends need a healthy pal, and most importantly, I need a healthy ME! 😀❤️💪 #bossbabe#spedteacher#fitteachers#furmom#momofboys#momofgirls#momofteens#momoftwo#fitmomsofinstagram#iamworthit#alittlemoreobsessed#80dayobsession#showup#everydamnday
ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT!!!
This is a full-circle 🔄 moment for me.
A year and a half ago, I joined my first online wellness group...💪🏻
I didn’t think I’d get results 😔 I had tried so many times before.
I thought it was way too 💸 expensive, but I felt like I NEEDED something just for ME!
I had NO self-confidence ❌
I felt like I was just EXISTING 🆘 day to day
BUT!! I knew something had to CHANGE! 💯
Have you BEEN there?! 🤷🏼♀️
Are you there NOW?! 🤷🏼♀️
It’s TIME!! ✅
It’s time to STOP making EXCUSES!! 🙅🏼♀️
It’s time to STOP PROCRASTINATING!! 🙅🏼♀️
It’s time to START making your HEALTH a PRIORITY!! 👊🏻🔥💕
It’s time to STOP spending money on things you THINK will make you FEEL better...🍩🍔
And START spending it on things that ACTUALLY WILL!! 🥤💪🏻🏋️♀️
Stop focusing 😣 on all the things you CAN’T do, and take CONTROL 🤨 of the things you CAN!!
I can HELP!!
Does anyone else use Shared Reading in their classroom?! If you don't, you must! 5 days, 1 book, and endless possibilities! This week we read "Rosie Revere, Engineer." (One of my favs) Today was day 4 of the reading cycle or the "Digging Deeper" lesson day! I brought in a box of kitchen utensils and we played a game ... students chose a utensil and had to think of an alternative use for it, just like Rosie! This was my favorite .. "These are no longer salad tongs, this is now a back scratcher." Hard to see, but this sweet kiddo is using the plastic salad tongs to scratch my back as an example! 🤣 #sharedreading#iteach#iteachfourth#iteachsped#spedteacher#balancedliteracy#teachersofinstagram#teachersfollowteachers
Finally had a really good day after a lot of tough ones! My fellow sped teacher is seriously amazing and left this note, I met our new student (so much energy and super sweet), and we changed our schedules!!!!!! We really had to think outside the box with schedules and I will be doing 3 (kind of 4) co-teaching times 😁. We have tomorrow off due to PT conferences too!
Instruction has been so much fun with these amazing resources!! My students are engaged, understanding, and advancing!
Thanks so much @aspoonfuloflearning and @thekindergartenconnection! #spedteacher#teachersofinstagram#iteachsped
This pumpkin unit makes my heart so happy. My students learned first hand the parts of a pumpkin and it’s life cycle. To celebrate we washed all of our pumpkins for some sensory fun. They loved it!!! 😍 #spedteacher#weteachsped
What’s missing from this picture?
Today my kids has the opportunity to visit a local cafe and learn about the ingredients that go into making smoothies. They learned not only about nutrition, but also about community. Cool, right? Well, what’s not pictured is two students who couldn’t keep their hands off each other, two other students who refused to put their phones away and show respect to the presenter, and another kid who insisted on telling everyone around him how much the mint he tried tasted like weed. Instagram isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but sometimes, this is the reality of the day.
Tomorrow is a new day, and I’m hopeful for better behaviors.
Why wait for a new year to start living healthy and happy!?! Join me in our next challenge to get the energy you need to enjoy quality time with your family instead of hibernating away all break! Get the confidence you need to go visit the family you’ve been afraid to visit and catch up with! Do the work now so you can take those family pictures you’ve always wanted, or wear that NYE dress you’ve always dreamed of! Don’t wait to show the world your hard work at Spring Break! Lets stop hiding behind a forced smile and work together to love ourselves again with a tribe of amazing woman who love and support each other! Lets do the damn thing and give ourselves the best gift of all this holiday season! Saying yes to putting ourselves first! 💚💚💚💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🌿🌿🌿 #bunzandgunz#holidayweightloss#bosslady#teachersofinstagram#fitteacher#herbaliferesults#shinebrightlikeadiamond#spedteacher#25yearsyoung#grateful#iteachtoo#iteach5th

⭐️Tactile Learning & Math Time⭐️
These toys are wonderful for tactile, kinesthetic and sensory play. This type of learning is beneficial in helping build nerve connections in pathways in kiddos brains, enabling them to finish more complex tasks. Sensory play supports fine and gross motor skills, cognitive growth, problem solving skills, language development, and social interactions.
Dominic, Scotty, and myself are really enjoying SPIKE Fij-its! These types of toys helps kiddos concentrate, increase attention span, and focus.
Today I had the use the Fij-it’s Disc Set to do a math activity. I put a number down on the table. Then they put the correct color and number of bears on their disc. It was a great success and they had a ball. I highly recommend getting both of these sets for your kiddos. The Fij-it’s Discs are recommended for ages 3 and up.
I have come to realize that if you can get to the reasons "why" your students won't listen, at least 50% of your challenge has been solved.
Then you can begin the short or sometimes longer process of using specific strategies to motivate behavior change. I talk more about the power of why in this week's blog. Check in out 👉🏾 #linkinthebio !
Somewhere around the 19th snapped pencil is when I got the idea to use our class economy to pay for things that are broken or destroyed in our classroom. Just another layer of accountability and responsibility for our students! ❤️
How awesome are these Roll & Read boards from @specialinspirations ?! The kids love rolling the jumbo dice from @targetteachers and reading the line that corresponds with the number they roll. What a great way to practice reading cvc words. 👍🏼 You can find these boards and other incredible resources in her TPT!
