Today marks the last day of our 21 day “English only” challenge. (It’s said to take 21 days to change a habit)
It’s basically been 21 days without speaking Norwegian.
The motivation behind it was that our internal dialogue - with negative self talk being part of it - is in Norwegian. Whatever 🤬 we’ve received over the years has also mainly been in our mother tongue. (not counting the 🚕driver in 🇮🇱, that we left untipped after some hazardous driving 🤣) So by committing to another language for a while, we wanted to create some disruption from the one that’s been used by our internal and external 😈. So did it bring any effects? To speak and then think, in another language?
Well, yes! As you might have noticed👆, if following our Instagram stories - it has led to several 💡 regarding the part of our negative self talk related to past “wrongdoings”. Adjusting our internal 💬 is one of several ways we use to increase our level of #selflove . The main factor we’ve found determining the quality of our lives, and how healthy we parent.
Our commitment to #financialfreedom , with the #earlyretirement that followed, has given us #timetoreflect on what really brings us joy 🤩💃🎉. As well as time to turn the reflection into some weird, unconventional and 🤣 experiments.
Learning that our quality of life doesn’t depend on 🛒, but rather being together 👨👩👧, self ❤️, serving others and spending time in 🌴🌲 - has made us even more confident that the retirement is here to last.
Is there anything more satisfying than a row of matching canisters?🤣🤣🤣 such a fun day today sorting and organising this tightly spaced pantry for a family of 5. Everything is now zoned, has a home and order and calm is restored! 💛💛💛 #pantrygoals#pantrymakeover#inthekitchen#pantrylove#pantry
Welcome! I’m here because I have had enough of my growing and overflowing wardrobe. In the true essence of Marie Kondo I have decided to re-home all of the things in my life that aren’t serving me anymore in the hopes that they will find a new life!
I’ve worked in fashion for a long time in many different roles, and I guess what really got to me was the lack of thought and consideration I have witnessed from consumers and companies alike. This encouraged me to look to different means to acquire the clothing and style I desired, raiding op shops and markets and ebay, and I’m comforted in seeing the growth of these avenues in the last few years. However, parallel to this advancement also comes the increase in demand for fast fashion. With everything available at the click of a button there is no longer a need to desperately seek out your style, as it is so readily available.
I’m here to maybe combine these two models.. I don’t know exactly where this will go, but I’m hoping that at the very least I’ll provide you with some things that I have loved and that need new homes, but hopefully this will go a bit deeper than that. But more on that another time.
Anyways.. thanks for visiting, hope you stick around!
Sorry for the essay and thank you @lilliwaters for the beautiful image
Ok. So, “they” (Pinterest gods) tell me to start decluttering with the area that annoys you the most. Which are the kids toys. But rules are made to be broken so I attacked under the bathroom cupboard today. We have moved three times recently and each time I have thrown the entire contents of our bathroom cupboard into a box without sorting it. Years and years of broken lipstick, never used eyeshadow and all the hand moisturiser that gets gifted to you when you are female (🙄). Post partum my skin has changed, and I now buy cruelty free products - so out with the old (looking at you, Nars!) products that don’t fit this description.
Look how many lipsticks I was hoarding! I wear lipstick like TWICE a year and it’s always @makeupbyaimeegwen 😘. Feeling good! ✨
FAMILY FRIDGE TIDY
@becka.lange sharing her recent fridge clean out with Mindfully Sorted.
As a family of 5 (3 boys, no less) it can be tough keeping all the food in any kind of order.
Keeping things in plain sight and in a regular “spot” will make it that little bit easier.
And if you really want to commit - LABEL!
How do I organize my kitchen drawers?
- a DM I got over the weekend.
The short answer is: I don't.
The long answer is: I don't and am not a fan of storage and organizing solutions (in most cases) because it encourages buying more stuff to store or organize our stuff instead of just having less stuff that won't even feel like less stuff because we aren't using so much of the stuff, to begin with.
Which is all to say: I bought a whole lot of drawer and shelf organizers when I had a whole lot of stuff in my drawers in my shelves. And now I have these 8 things in this drawer so I just put them in there and not worry too much about how they'd be more organized if I bought a tray for it.
Think less about needing stuff, you know?
What about you? #thatnostufflife
Books and notebooks are things that we are unconsciously accumulating. Since I want to carry less things upon leaving Cebu, I scanned through my documents, books, and notebooks, and decluttered the ones that I don't really need.
For notebooks, I just realized that I use up one each year. Since 2014, I've gathered 4 (barely full) notebooks and it's already a physical burden right now. I took photos of each page and uploaded it online. I also removed the empty pages so that I can reuse them. Now, I can access my notes any time and let go of the physical ones. Currently, I have one notebook left.
For books, I really prefer reading ebooks but sometimes I want to detach from my phone when reading something. That's when I started accumulating some physical books. Then, I assessed which ones really spark joy and I let go of the ones that didn't. I sold some of them or gave it to my friends. Now, I'm left with 3 books.
Have you tried decluttering your books or notebooks?
I finally had some free time this morning and put together some much-needed finishing touches at my new place. I need art on the walls to know I’m home. These pieces by my insanely talented artist niece #sparkjoy every day. And the lovely mirror/jewelry holder is a true find that is both functional and beautiful. Thanks @worldmarket 🙌🏼 PS I am a true sentimentalist and this vanity set (purchased at an estate sale in Madison, WI when I was 10...cost $12 back then and was a sacrifice for my mom to buy on our tight budget. However, this set has followed me to two more states and four different homes. Wherever I place it on my vanity, I know I’m home 💕🏡 #konmarimethod#konmari#konmariconsultant#homeorganizer#happyhomehappylife#interiordesign
I live in San Diego & by the time I flip the calendar to October, it’s already clear that autumn is attempting to arrive!
It’ not only the drop in temperature & the beautifully changing leaves, but I welcome in the change of season. . . pumpkin-flavored everything & me forcing big sweaters & boots!!
How do you welcome the fall?
Shelves can hold an array of items. It doesn't have to be only cups, or only plates, etc, especially if you're short on space. This one's got a bit of everything from books, a cheese grater, to cups and other knick knacks. 📸: @mccarnbnb
How good does it feel when you get rid of your kids stuff? Let be honest, it feels pretty great! It’s so easy now to go into Violet’s drawers and pick out an outfit for her 🙌🏼
Check out my new YouTube video to see the process of clearing it out! She really doesn’t have a lot of clothes I realize. Links in my bio!
Day 1 of my cycle, feeling like the Queen of All the Things because I have gotten So. Much. Done. recently. But its not about how much or how little, its about how you channel your energy effectively and efficiently to be living in accordance with your desires. And, knowing when to use your energy and when to restore it. Time for this Queen to rest now! 🌹👑🌹 *Artist unknown*
Are you curious about why people seek the help of professional organizers? For starters, it's not because they're seeking a pristine home straight off the page of a design catalog. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Design plays a role, BUT most organizers strive to create a space for their clients that allows for messiness and the realities of life. The key being that when it's time to tidy up, they'll be able to do so quickly because they have systems and tools to follow and make it easy. In my experience, there are three main reasons my clients call me for help:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
— They don’t know how to get organized or where to start on their own.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
— They don’t have the time to do it on their own.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
— They don’t want to do it themselves at all.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can imagine we've all fallen into one (or more) of these categories at some point or another, and many of us choose to power through. But when money CAN buy you happiness, or quality time, or frustration-free moments...I say, spend it! Sometimes it's worth paying someone to help you through a task or set up a system. I'm just a call away — schedule a free consultation through the links in my bio! Happy Monday!
When I was young, my Mom passed me her old collection of Nancy Drew books. I read and reread that series countless times, and I would spend a lot of time poring over the pictures. So, when I wanted a piece of "joy sparking" art for my bedside table, an illustration from The Spider Sapphire Mystery seemed like a perfect fit.
“When you tidy, you gain a little confidence. The people you meet change. Unexpected things happen in a positive way. Change begins to accelerate. And you begin to really enjoy your life.” @konmari.co
My Saturn returned & made me shed the things I don’t need. Whether I like it or not, change is inevitable and my dresser is no exception! Let the JOY begin!

🌿How to fold onesie baby🌿

So the main goal about the konMari technique is to reach a rectangle.

2-Take the wrinkles out with the palm of your hand

This was my bin after I tossed first, the appliance manuals and then, recipes I’m never going to make (you know, the 3 mixing bowls, leave this to do that for so long....) and then things that are no longer a part of my life. I used to lead a ministry (10 years ago) so I tossed all those meeting things too.
I’m working up to looking through my old workshop materials. No longer sure if people are into this kind of thing anymore?

JOY. How does the media that I consume affect my ability to receive joy? .
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. I believe that the media I consume has a strong affect on my mind. .
⭐️Is the media I consume distracting me from connecting with real humans or is it a connecting tool? .
⭐️Am I watching things that are too violent or vulgar and put my mind into a dark place?
⭐️Does it make me laugh and release endorphins? .
⭐️Is it fun?
⭐️Am I a better person because I read this book or watched this show?
⭐️Is it helping me relax and disengage (which I sometimes really need)?
⭐️Is it something I want to share with others?
⭐️Does it bring me closer to God?
⭐️Should I make time with it to snuggle on the couch with my kids and have a “shared story” experience? @readaloudrevival ⭐️Does it build my resilience and empathy?
There is some media that is worth consuming and enjoying and some that just isn’t. .
I want to be a curator of the things I bring into my life, heart, and home. This includes media. .
Where do you go to find uplifting media? How do you choose? .
What are some of your favorite books or tv shows that bring joy? .
I laid my cards on the table and stopped trying to fight what I knew was no longer serving me. Love and forgiveness in my heart, I declared to the Universe, "I am all yours." In that moment of surrender, peace washed over me and the synchronicities bloomed as flowers in my path, each day a new bounty of colorful blessings! Winks from above that I have made the right choice....surrendering into a higher good by getting out of my own way.
I spent most of yesterday reflecting on how incredibly happy and blessed I feel to be a part of the wonderful yoga community and the opportunities it has brought me. Surrender brought me to my mat years ago and since then my light has blossomed through yoga. This last weekend was an incredible highlight for myself as I shared my passion with my beloved yoga tribes to the POWERFUL live songs of my favorite musician. Thank you @robriccardo, @yogapodfortcollins and @Corepoweryoga from the bottom of my heart! I am also so thankful that I was joined by my yoga sisters who offered doses of heart felt adjustments during class, smiles as they checked yogis in and passion for connection. A huge heart felt thank you to all you beautiful yogis that came and co-created magic!
Powerful energy was created and hopefully felt in waves of love by Gaia and all those sensitive enough to feel it! Our love is a ripple effect transforming ourselves and this world!
Happy Monday Friends... Spent a busy weekend working and spending time with some friends. Today I’m spending the day answering emails.
I’m also shopping products for a client today. Remember you don’t need a bunch of expensive products to make your space functional and beautiful. Ask me how? I’m currently booking projects for November but you can still sign up for consultations now.
There’s a new blog post up, titled Why I held Onto My Things. It features these orange jeans and I’d love for you to have a read and comment below on what you think and what your experiences have been.
It was quite a hard thing for me to write about but I think it’s so important to share our stories. Letting go of these jeans was hard, even if they were orange. 🍊
Do you find simplifying easy or is there emotion attached? Does it stop you decluttering in the first place or do you carry on regardless. I’d love to know.
