We are always on the look out for new (and old) instruments to add to our ever-expanding arsenal. The main reason is because they add fresh sounds and inspirations. Opening up a door in our improvisational world and transporting us to a place we could’ve never planned. Yet a little hidden truth lingers silently behind all that... After all this time of recording and publishing our weekly sessions it seems to be the best way for us all to recall certain chapters in Bugs evolution. An audio time stamp to an era when a certain instrument or technical advancement were introduced. They usually make a strong appearance for the first few weeks. Letting their presence known amongst the others and allowing us to find their voice and place in what we do. Then slip quietly into their resting spot waiting patiently for the muses to call upon them again. This mbira has yet to make it’s first appearance. An excellent find from the Goodwill. It has obviously had many lives before it came to us and I can’t help but to imagine what the journey has been. A little finicky in the tuning department but hopefully soon it will be making it’s debut. Subscribe to the Bugs In The Basement podcast or swing by the website to tune in to the journey
#soundscapesunday this week is a collab I did with my good friend @_atelis_ under his other alias “eternal student” this dude is literally the person that got me into making ambient music and appreciating noise so check him out if you’re into that kind of stuff. I used some sentimental field recordings from my grandparents funeral at Arlington national cemetery for this one

. ........... ״MADNESS״..........
I actually don't like this track anymore 😂 (also it’s so different then what I normally do), but I'll post it anyway.
I'm trying to learn how to let go, detach myself from the musical pieces that I produce, because they don't define who I am. They just represent a moment in my life.
I've met toooo many musicians throughout my life that are holding on to their music, letting this fear of "what people may think" hold them back. Im the same so I have to remind myself -
It's better to release it then holding on to it, on my computer.
Thank you @cameronrivero for letting me record you and break you into pieces :), thank you Micah Welch for letting me record your beautiful voice! Thank you Paul Wilson for mastering, and Sharon Renold for shooting this video! .
