So proud of my filly. When I picked her up, she was impossible to catch, dangerous to be around, a rearing, psychotic bitch.... she was in a pen with a small gelding and I will never forget the words of the woman whom I picked her up from when I said I wanted the filly... “you don’t want that one trust me” -I responded with - I’ll take that one. I have certainly questioned my decision over the last year- this mare has quit me several times but I don’t know if it was quitting me rather than testing me. We have broken through the barrier and I think she’s chosen me to be her person... I’m so proud of this horse and will admit I’m proud of myself... I wasn’t sure if I actually had it in me to train this horse. Shes made me a better rider and has shown me I infact do have what it takes to make her into the horse she’s capable of being. She’s coming along... #aqha#filly#peptoboonsmal#sorrel#horse#horses#quarterhorse#challengeaccepted
"I think you're looking for something, but you don't know what it is. I think maybe that's why you cling to certain kinds of people, to secure something in yourself that you're doubting. Perhaps, in some sense, you doubt your own future which is why you always find yourself in the hardest situations. And then, you wonder why they leave. You wonder why they don't need you or love you. The truth falls heavy. It's not that they don't love you. Maybe you, my dear, still haven't learned to love yourself." R.M. Drake
My love of horses has always run deep. When I was a little girl I always dreamed of owning a horse, which led me to learning how to draw them. This desire to show the beauty, and power of the horse as well as showing my love for them is what inspired me to begin drawing. At 3 years old I was checking every drawing book and horse book out of the library so that one day my drawings would match my dream. Now that I'm much older My love for the majestic animals has only grown. Before my daughter was born I enjoyed sitting in the pasture drawing our beautiful horses. I still continue to admire the majesty of them and strive to improve my drawings. In the pictures is my husband and I (very pregnant during this pic😂) working with some of our horses (currently we only own the sorrel but fingers crossed we'll have more one day😂) #horse#sorrel#bay#dun#horsecrazy#horseartist#horsey#horseoftheday#horseworld#horseaddict#horsesofinstagram#horselovers#western#cowboy#equine#quarterhorse
Last of the harvest. I dug the sorrel out of the snow. We got well over 10cm today; it's early and there's a lot of it.
Thank goodness we got the potatoes last week. For whatever reason, the purple ones were the most abundant this year.
A few jobs that seemed last minute, because the snow came early... We finally put the snow guard on the garage roof a few days ago! I put plastic guards around the bases of the fruit trees today to protect them from voles. And we recovered the garden hose and a few straggling bowls from outside before winter totally sets in.
So so grateful for you, garden <3 Have a good winter's rest.

Did you know that apple trees take 4 to 5 years to produce their first fruit 😲?! Luckily our Red Vein Sorrel has hints of sour apple, perfect for garnishing cocktails without having to wait so long! 🌱🍎🍹
💖I haven't probably explained these girls like I should have in the first place so here you go.💖 I've been riding horses since I was little these mares are just the ones that have impacted me the most. ( Dasher's picture is when we first got her back, Little Bit's picture was from the last time I rode her, and Sugars was from the State show.) Dasher is a 9 year old OTTB. She was raced before I owned her. I've owned her for almost a year. I'm training her in Barrels, Poles, Speed, and Stakes. Earlier this year she got cut up by a fence she took a lot to heal but she's back to her training know. She's the first horse in the field to come to you.
Little Bit is a 4 year old Quarter horse. She's being trained in Western Pleasure. A friend of my mom's asked me to ride her because his granddaughter didn't like competing. Her registered name is The Broadway Lady.
Sugar is a 16 year old palomino. We've had her since she was a baby. My moms old barrel horse Blue was her mom.Sugar is a finished Barrel, Flags, Pole, Speed, ect. horse.
