An incredible morning touring this hidden gem on the Sonoma Coast. Cool ocean fogs keep the pinot noir nice and cool late into the morning. The views were still spectacular. Steve Kistler was even kind enough to stop by and say hello. Thanks Mia and Reuben for a wonderful morning!

Today we had the opportunity to taste four, jaw dropping 😲, wines from Bevan Cellars. In 1995, Owners Russell and Victoria Bevan met in Des Moines Iowa and soon started dating. Russell remembers playing a game called “Guess the Wine,” with his love ❤️ and knew that their shared love of wine would lead them to move to California to start their own wine label. They found their forever home 🏡 in Bennet Valley on the outskirts of Santa Rosa 🌹 , CA. A visit from Kal Showket (owner of Showket Vineyards) prompted them to plant their very own Estate Vineyard. Later that year the Showkets gave the Bevans a ton of grapes which were sorted and fermented in three batches. The differentiation in each was staggering. The hook was set! Looking forward to today, Bevan wines are hailed 🙌 as some of the best in the world 🌎! We are delighted to be able to share these four wines with you and hope that you love 💓 them as much as we do. If you would like to add these great wines to your collection email us, firstname.lastname@example.org. The 194th Sonoma Valley grape harvest officially kicked off at noon on Wed. 8/15. @sonomavalleywine marked the day by holding an official bell ringing ceremony at the Mission San Francisco Solano.
Sonoma County is the most diverse premium wine grape growing region in the United States. In fact, it produces 6% of all the wine in California.
Sonoma County grows around 66 varieties of wine grapes, but seven varieties comprise more than 90 percent of the planted acres:

Cabernet Sauvignon (13,000 acres)
Zinfandel (5,000 acres)
Merlot (4,100 acres)
Sauvignon Blanc (2,800 acres)
Syrah (1,600 acres)
Other interesting facts:
1 acre of grapes = 3,958 bottles of wine
1 acre of grapes = 15,940 glasses of wine
1 barrel of wine =
740 pounds of grapes
59 gallons of wine
24.6 cases of wine
295 bottles of wine

Last night we went to Buena Vista Winery to enjoy Shakespeare Under The Stars’ Two Gentleman of Verona, with a modern twist! What a fun night of sipping bubbles, a wonderful picnic with friends and local theatre in one of the most beautiful historic wineries in California. If you have the opportunity to go, I can’t recommend it enough! We had such a great time. Swipe left to see a video of when we were rick rolled by the cast. 😂
Second of three bio-dynamic winery highlights from Sonoma. Littorai is a small, family owned winery run by winemaker Ted Lemmon and his wife Heidi producing 3,000 cases of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Ted Lemon’s short-story: young American goes to Burgundy. Becomes first American to run a Burgundian wine estate. Comes back to Sonoma and stays true to Pinot’s motherland
Few winemakers are as committed as Lemon to the sanctity of California terroir. He believes the path to terroir is through the person who lives and breathes a site’s every nuance. He partners with growers who follow his farming guidance and beliefs; Savoy (Anderson Valley), Hirsch, Heintz and Thieriot (Sonoma Coast). Their own property near Occidental, Haven, has a compost pile to match no other. He believes California can lead the way to redefine what wine farming will be for the future. 🍷
2014 Hirsch Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot - this is a lighter style, fresh Pinot. Red cherry & raspberry with nice acidity
2014 Cerise Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot - fruit forward, cinnamon, hints of chocolate followed by mineral notes
2014 Haven Estate Sonoma Coast Pinot - still a bit tight, rich, integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The complexity of this wine will show with age
As you can tell by the tasting, he also believes in aging the wine! They just released their fall wines and library bottles to their mailing list, so jump now. 🙏 @wineterroir for the tip
Lofty reputations set lofty expectations that can be very hard to meet! This is definitely NOT the case with Peter Michael wines where quality is absolutely first-class. Elusive and mysterious, the wines of Peter Michael are some of the most highly revered and sought-after wines from California. Besotted with the best wines of France, Peter Michael’s focussed intent when planting in 1982 were the grape varieties of Bordeaux and Burgundy. Somehow these wines combine the magical richness and velvet texture of California with brilliant balance and elegance that are impossible to ignore and easy to adore.
The home vineyards are planted in the Knights Valley AVA (part of Sonoma but almost touching the northern end of Napa) at elevations up to 1,900 feet, from which most of Bordeaux varieties and Chardonnay are born. They also own a fabulous Cabernet vineyard on the east side of Oakville and a magical Pinot Noir vineyard at Fort Ross Seaview on the true Sonoma Coast. Made for collectors and loved by all, these are no-expense spared efforts yielding some of the best wines seen in the Golden State. #calforniawines
