The wines I ordered from @winefornormalpeople @undergroundwineevents came today and I can't be more overjoyed. I posted about attending this wonderful event back in November. I had the excellent fortune of meeting Elizabeth and so many fantastic indepedent winemakers!
I purchased the bundle with three whites and three reds. This was the best choice for me because I strive for balance and like ALL THE WINE! The bundle includes wines by @andiswines, @cruxwinery, @longboardwine, @magnavitacellars, #peopleswinerevolution , and @peterson_winery! And of course, I will be reviewing each one! Which ones do you want to try?
the 2010 Pratt Vineyard Pinot Noir from MacPhail (@macphailpinot) is an excellent offering from Sonoma: a nose full of cherries and red currants enfolded in smoky vanilla, pepper, and gorgeous forest floor flavors, with medium body & medium plus acidity providing a backbone that makes it enjoyable with tons of delicious dishes, this is a super lovely California Pinot! .
What do I pair with a stunning date night @morimotonapa accompanied by my handsome husband, Christmas lights and a tray full of exquisitely fresh sashimi? This luscious rich and perfectly balanced @hanzellfarm Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Oh what a night! Black cherry, berries slight hint of pepper, bright acidity paired perfectly with fish. Dont deny a Pinot Noir the right opportunity to pair with fish .💋🍷💋
TGIF! We are all smiles stepping into the weekend. And to be honest, Diane is really smiling sharing Bucher Wines with guests at our recent Wine Club party at Grand Cru Custom Crush. Those of you who joined us we had a blast seeing you and sharing Bucher Wines with you. If you missed the event, we hope you’ll join us for our next one in 2019!
The experts at #WineSpectator on our 2016 Carneros Home Ranch Chardonnay ⇒ "This offers pear and ripe apple flavors that are filled with buttery accents, featuring creamy notes on the finish, with hints of toast and hazelnut." - @wine_spectator #Carneros#HomeRanch#Chardonnay
When I was sent samples of the new Sonoma-focused Canonball Eleven project from @cannonballwines, I was intrigued by the pedigree of founder Dennis Hill (Seghesio, Alexander Valley Vineyards, etc) and winemaker Ondine Chattan (Ridge, Cline, Geyser Peak).
I share my full thoughts on the Dry Creek Sauvignon blanc, Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Sonoma County (RRV/Dry Creek) Merlot in the link in the bio. But I will say that the Dry Creek Sauvignon blanc was quite delicious! #sonomawine#cannonballeleven#winereview#sauvignonblanc#chardonnay#merlot#drycreek#sonomacoast#winelover#wineblogger

Wine of the Week🍷
2014 Wind Gap Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast ~”Named after the forces of nature that shape the wines..”🍷
The name PAX is definitely known among wine lovers. Sommelier turned Winemaker Pax Mahle is a true force in the wine world focusing on bold, powerful Syrahs. For sometime he was sourcing fruit from different vineyards in Northern California & realized that the cooler vineyards had this alluring freshness that he always loved in French wines. He decided to experiment and began picking at lower sugar levels & fermenting in single barrels- and in the mid 2000’s his second label, Wind Gap was born... The winery’s vineyards are planted along or are directly influenced by one wind gap or another... Their winemaking is spectacular- starting with low yields & meticulous hand sorting- then every wine is foot stomped & fermented in natural yeast rather than adding a single freeze-dried selection bought from a lab. Fermented and raised in a combination of concrete, stainless steel & old neutral French Oak barrels...His lineup includes Chardonnay, Grenache, Trousseau Gris, Syrah & my favorite-Pinot Noir...🍷
*Side-note* Charles Banks, former owner of Screaming Eagle & an investment group he formed (Terroir Selections) bought a stake in Wind Gap in 2013 and in July of 2018 Pax decided to sell it out right so he could solely focus on PAX. The company will still uphold the integrity & style that Pax dedicated to this brand.🙏🏻
Cheers guys! 🍷🍷
~wine notes~almost entirely whole-cluster. Sourced from 6 different vineyard sites. 100% concrete fermentation. 10-month élevage in Neutral French oak & Concrete.. Needs a little time to open up. Seems delicate at first but then dense red & dark fruit with spice and earth on the finish. Delish👌🏼🍷
Another great weekend to spend some holiday time at Barber Cellars! Our Holiday Hill village has risen once again - with 2 trains, skating rink, a snowy waterfall, and dozens of little houses. Check it out in the tasting room.
Also this weekend: @hotelpetaluma is hosting their 3rd annual gingerbread house competition in the ballroom. Come check out the houses- and the snow over the hotel's courtyard.
On this Flambeaux Friday, we are thrilled to announce that our 2015 Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon recently won DOUBLE GOLD at the New Orleans International Wine Awards. If that’s a little hometown pride you’re detecting, you’re not mistaken. You can order this beautiful wine on our website (link in bio). Makes a wonderful gift...or you can just keep it for yourself. 😉
Happy Thursday! 👋🏼 There’s lots of work to be done when turning grapes into wine and Ames is in the winery answering this week's #AskAmes question, "What's the first thing you do with the grapes after they're harvested?" 🍇
Calluna Vineyards C.V.C 2014 Chalk Hill, California
It's time for #MerlotThursday . Here is a nice one from Sonoma County.
Dark ruby in color with a short purplish rim.
On the nose, blueberries, earth, chocolates, light oak, vanilla, spices, licorice, dark coffee, pencil lead and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs, soft and smooth.
Dry on the palate with currants, cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, spices, wood, earth, beef jerky, herbs, light vinaigrette, chocolates, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Medium finish with fine green tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Merlot based Bordeaux Blend from Chalk Hill, Sonoma County. Nicely balanced with a soft and elegant mouthfeel.
Very enjoyable by itself or with food. Fruit forward with some earth notes. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up.
I paired it with cheeses and crackers.
A blend of 47% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 9% Malbec and 8% Petit verdot.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
88 points. $33. .

Harvest report: After the stress of 2017, Sonoma winemakers hoped for a more relaxed harvest this year, and Mother Nature gave it to them. | Winemakers from the region describe 2018's potential for greatness at the link in our bio! | 📸: Courtesy of Stonestreet Vineyards.
Loving this Skewis Pinot Noir! The winery is closed now because the Skewis’ decided to retire and travel while they are still young enough to enjoy it. Their first Vintage was 1994, and 2014 was their last vintage. This one is a beauty. Trained in France, Hank Skewis’ style was informed by old world winemaking. This one is complex with very appealing aromas of forest floor, black tea, cherry, cola, crushes rock, blueberry, exotic spice and dried rose. On the palate it medium-bodied, very fresh and persistent with well-integrated powdery tannins and Black cherry, strawberry, black tea, pomegranate, rosehips and exotic spice flavors with a long savory finish! Hope you’re enjoying retirement Hank. Well done indeed!
