I’m incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such amazingly talented #musicians & friends. These 2 right here have musical rap sheets waaay 2 long to list & I am always learning how to listen to music more intelligently, how to practice piano more efficiently, how to take charge of my career & make it happen, how to arrange songs more creatively, how to listen to and blend frequencies & most importantly how to trust myself. I have the coolest #mentors @mistergoldfinger007 Richard Gibbs. #music#orchestration#film#tv#scores#studiolife#singer#songwriter 💜🎶✌️
▶️ Happy birthday, dear #JohnDeacon !.
▪️ Today we celebrate the #birthday of an extraordinary musician.
A former electronics student turned #bass player genius, John was as gifted a #songwriter as he was a bass player, writing some of the most celebrated hits of the #70s & #80s , like the #love#rock ballad 'You’re My Best Friend', the #classic#IWantToBreakFree and, of course, #Grammy nominated #funk#AnotherOneBitesTheDust '.
In their earliest days, #Queen went through a number of bass players with none of them proving to be satisfactory. But that all changed on March 1, 1971, when 19-year old Deacon joined the band, giving them the fourth and final piece in the puzzle.
John has been vastly underrated and this is probably due to him being the shy part of a quartet that featured three outstanding personalities, but without doubt it was John's solid and inspirational playing that helped them to shine.
It's well known the great relationship Freddie & John shared. From the moment he joines, Freddie took him under his arm: 'Freddie helped John a lot with his songs, he could see the potential and they worked closely together and there was huge mutual #respect . Fred got the best out of John’s ideas and writing', said Peter Hince, Queen's #roadie .
In November 1991 Freddie lost his fight and unlike Roger Taylor and Brian May, John could see no point in carrying on. He participated in a few projects afterwards and played a handful of gigs with various people but for him, Queen was no longer Queen without #FreddieMercury . The straw that broke the camels back was that Brian and Roger wanted to record #WeAreTheChampions for the #AKnightsTale#soundtrack with #RobbieWilliams .
He said: 'I didn't want to be involved with it and I'm glad. It is one of the greatest songs ever written but I think they've ruined it. I don't want to be nasty but let's just say Robbie Williams is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie can never be replaced - and certainly not by him'.
▶️ #HappySunday everyone! You know I don't usually mention other people's birthdays but John is very dear to me and I wanted to make an appreciation tribute to him. Thanks for all the #music , dear John!
