Something positive is I love art:) Native American, Middle Eastern, Egyptian, Paintings, Vinyl Art, Lithographs, European:) you name it:) I am damn thankful:) I was reading that the 3 leading causes of death for people like me is sugar, smoking & suicide which sucks honestly. #herpesawarenessday is today and @belize.spivey challenged me and many others to contribute to this day in some way.
I mistake being humble for being selfish sometimes. @given100 taught me a major difference between the two.
Since spring 2017 I’ve listened to hundreds of people share their experiencs navigating life challenges with a sexually transmitted infection through a #podcast#somethingpositiveforpositivepeople .
I’m humble in a sense of not really talking about it outside its context. Im selfish because I’ve worried about how it would affect my career.
Carl gave me a safe space to open up to him about my concerns, which since then, liberated me to be able to help more people just by living and being who I am and doing what I do.
In hindsight I did point the finger at the #stigma which is a collection of opinions from people who either don’t have herpes or don’t know what it means to have herpes. I have 6 years of experience living with #hsv2 which is primarily #genitalherpes and those years challenged everything about the stigma. #ihaveherpesand I have had accepting partners, run a gym with a decade long friend, host 2 activism podcasts, and have another job. And in allowing myself to #bethere for others living with herpes, I’ve met some amazing #sti community allies and activists working to help people get out of depression, suicidal thoughts, isolation, guilt, shame, etc. we don’t win every battle but if this post helps one person, then every minute I put into everything up to this point was all worth it.
We all know someone living with #herpes even if we don’t know who. I encourage people today to share #somethingpositive about a friend who disclosed to them (anonymously) and add #whatstigma to the post. This community of support from non-hsv+ people demonstrates the #presence of support which allows people who are dealing with depression and other negative emotions to express themselves in a safe space, the same way Carl did for me which opened the door for me to #beablessing to someone else.
The mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, is stuck seated behind me at LA Fest. These are dark times, indeed.

PS: Sorry, Eric, had I known you were about to perform with Moby, I would have been (slightly) less intrusive. 🍷
In the world we live in today, the nature of conversation has changed. Small talks are prevalent, but real deep meaningful conversations are almost as rare as gold. Have the courage to initiate a deep conversation if it’s uncomfortable. Let’s just try to know people. It doesn’t mean you understand people. Your call is to get to know them. Understanding someone and knowing them are two different things. Don’t ask why they are who they are. The purest form of conversations is that one that brings you as close as possible to someone’s soul. #lessonforyouandmyself#conversation#conversations#meaningfulquotes#meaningfulconversations#startaconversationthatmatters
