Can’t even count the times I’ve thought... “I need to make sure she’s alive!” In the last 2 hours.... she’s been napping for 3.5 hours so far... thankfully she has rolled from stomach to back or I would have gone in a long time ago! #napslikehermomma#socializingishard
I’m socialized out, but it was great to meet some local moms and moms-to-be! A few of us are due around the same time, so it’s nice that Blastoise will have some playmates. And now I’m gonna let the tv make noise at me for a while and not interact with other humans. #introvertprobs#socializingishard#momsclub#timeforquiet#momfriends
That semi late night feel when you’re finally seeing friends on a regular basis in one on one connections and some large group things but you’re an introvert with an active social life and nobody around you thought that was a thing but you fuckin did it anyways. #introversion#socializingishard
Hope everyone is enjoying this #WellnessWednesday ! Social anxiety can be paralyzing. Catastrophizing will stop you in your tracks and make it difficult to achieve your goals. Not to mention struggling with friends, family, etc. You’re not weird or alone! Rest assured we’ll accept you as you are at support group. Your goals are important. #CureStigma 💚
P.s. this account is slowly morphing into a @journey_to_wellness_ and @introvertdoodles repost page... 😂
Looking out the windows is as close as I like to get to outside. It’s super scary out there!!! My mom gives me lots of treats but I still hate it, the couch inside is so much nicer and there’s no strange people in there...🙈
SOCIALIZING – a thing you can handle👍⠀
As an #internationalstudent you need to be socializing and #networking a lot! Yep, even if back at home you hated it😳, now you have got to DO it!⠀
Let’s explore some ways to kick-start a conversation and get to know new people.⠀
First, make sure your nonverbal communication leaves a good first impression ⠀
✅ check your clothing (wear an appropriate and, most importantly, comfortable outfit) ⠀
✅ posture (open your posture by standing straight with your shoulders back; don’t droop or hunch) ⠀
✅ don’t be afraid to make eye-contact, you are here to connect! ⠀
✅ use soft gestures, shake hands, be mindful of the space between you and another person⠀
✅ smile ⠀
✅ nod (or lean a bit forward) when other person is talking, show interest and engagement ⠀
Second, be yourself, talk about yourself, your origins and culture. Relax 😇 and try to have fun with it! You are not socializing to torture yourself; you are doing this to build connections and meet new people! The more you practice the easier it gets!⠀ ⬇️⠀
Here are some questions (other than “How are you? What’s your name? Where are you from? Where do you work?”) you might find useful to initiate and sustain a conversation, ⠀
➡️What’s on your mind?⠀
➡️Is it your first time here?⠀
➡️What are your top 3 favorite books? (actors, movie directors, dishes, places, etc)⠀
➡️What countries have you already traveled to?⠀
➡️Which corner of the Earth would you like to visit if you get a chance?⠀
➡️What makes you happy?⠀
➡️Are there any places here (in the city you study now) you would recommend visiting?⠀
Whatever you do to connect with people, remember: a smile 😃, your positivity and friendly attitude will make people want to talk to you and open up to you!⠀
🍀Good luck🍀 Communication is the key – open new doors🚪 with it! ⠀
Fighting my social anxiety so I could experience my parents at Oscar Jr’s Generation Gathering!
I was not going to stay but I’m so glad I did. I watched my parents and other grandparents help students practice their reporter/interviewing skills. .
They asked them questions about their childhood so they could compare the past and the present. .
I learned so much about my own parents lol.
But as I watched them in action, I could not help to wonder which one was fighting like I was. I mean, I can fight it and no one will ever know I have social issues.
Guess I have some interview questions myself. If I could guess, I think it’s both of them and they have just learned to fight those thoughts.

I met Evan from @cottonshipsband today at USC. He was working on an assignment and he said it was okay for me to join him as he works. He was chill. I think my favorite thing about the way he looked was his earring.

When people say things like "but he does or doesn't____" when they hear he has Autism I want to scream. It's the "high functioning" curse. He's had a totally disregulated day, and I am running on negative energy. After being forced to play for 3 minutes with his brother, he retreats and does probably the most stereotypical, classic ASD play: lining up his trains. #asd#autism#lines#trains#autismfamily#socializingishard#neverquit#mybaby#differentnotless
