15th of December today !!! That marks 365 days without a single drop of any alcohol for me, after a group pact with some friends. Running has taken me to many places in 2018 not just around the world but also within myself, I realised how destructive nights out really were to my training so I said goodbye to the bottles, I traveled to Asia with my bro from another mo @joeygahnstrom so I could get perspective on how to become a better athlete, not put my energy into things that didn’t make that fundamental passion grow stronger, which I failed at on many occasions, but everyday I am improving, having time away made me realise how grateful I am for the web of people I have in my life who support me with what I love to do 🙂 I came back to England, entered a race which went terribly wrong, but shortly after something inside of me completely switched, for the last two months my training has been the most consistent it has ever been, I have been training with people who truly burn me into the ground, I have great coaches helping, I am feeling much stronger, next month I am going back to Snowdonia to train in the mountains for 1 month with my bro @rennypoore to end the 3 month training cycle with a really brutal 30 days, after this time away I will be choosing a full marathon to run with the main objective of running it in sub 2.28 territory around May time, I will complete another solid 3 months of training for this, focusing on anaerobic conditioning, getting in those longer tempo sessions, everything will be in order, healthy eating, recovery, no drink, hydration, sufficient sleep. I have learnt many meaningful things over the last 365 days while not drinking, that is to not let trivial things get in the way of the things that make your spine electrify with excitement, stay consistent when the conditions are not right at times, appreciate every improvement even if it is mental instead of physically, life is for learning, fucking up, making mistakes on top of those mistakes, but then also making improvements on top of those. 2 more sleeps just 2 more and we are off on our adventure - it’s like packing for a giant holiday - but super super stressful.
I’m now at the stage of completely non organised - literally everything and anything are going into boxes.
It started so well just like the packing of the food shop - fresh in one bag frozen in another - veg another and so on.
Unpacking will no doubt be far more stressful given the immediate lack of storage.
Praise be for the basement it will stay out of sight and out of mind till the new year - twinkly lights however are labelled clearly -
