As I sat there 60 yards from where this buck took his last breath... I sat down and couldn't help but think about the entire process that it took to get to this point. I thought about all of the unsuccessful hunts, my aching body from the brutal pack trips, the miles and miles that I put on my boots this year just to pursue these beautiful animals called Mule Deer here in the great state of Wyoming.
I couldn't help but thank the man upstairs for the beautiful country that he allowed me to discover this year, for allowing me to take this beautiful buck and for allowing me to live a hunters life.
As I sat there with a knotched tag and empty cartridge in my hand I also couldn't help but think about what tomorrow is going to bring... Preparation! Preparation for next season!
But here he is, my 2017 Mule Deer! I couldn't be happier that I was able to glass him up late last night and was able to find him just one drainage over this morning. After a well played stock I was able to put a well placed 165 gr Hornaday SST bullet right behind his shoulder at 60 yards and dropped him in his bed... No suffering that's what I strive for every time! Now its time for some fresh deer steaks! #windriveroutdoorworld#ShedNecks#SNgear#vortexoptics#loveforthehunt#luckyhat#kuiunation#outdoorsman#zamberlinboots#solohunter
