And then I ate it.
Today's faeces in waiting is based around my greens.
Golden oregano, purple sage, thyme and parsley fried in olive oil. Added in some organic zucchini that I got reduced price (thanks woolies), then some pre-cooked rice and let it soak up the oil. A dash of water, turmeric, black pepper, garam masala, salt, chill powder, coriander powder . . . And more pepper. While it was cooking down I mashed up an avo in a bowl and added fresh sage, oregano and parsley and the juice of a lemon. Then I turned the heat off my rice and folded in a fresh egg. Topped with almonds for some crunch factor.
Pretty proud of this one, I usually shy away from spice but the lemon juice and the avo make my tastebuds zing.
I've been battling an infection on and off for a few months now. I have been to the doc and had a of course antibiotics and also mild trauma from their lack of care.
Every time I return, I see a bit more why I am so pissed off by Western Health Care.
It's assumed that the practitioners know more about my body than I do, and they don't like to pause and listen. This time I literally had them tell me that I should exercise and keep my blood sugars in range, as Type 1 Diabetes can lead to complications later in life (NO FUCKING SHIT SHERLOCK). I contained the rage (just). Any kind of alternative approach to type 1 diabetes is met with fear, when I should be getting support. It is so often I hold my tongue when I'm with a new GP.
In terms of fibromyalgia, I have had next to no support or guidance. It was basically a letter to formally diagnose me, and then a indication towards the door.
So food is my medicine, medicine is my food:
Oregano and sage are anti-inflammatory herbs, and along with rose water, have strong anti-bacterial properties. Currently my house smells like dirty Turkish Delight, and it's fucking lovely. Take THAT, offensive mediacators. Huff. Ommmmmm 🙏🌱🐌💫 #rant#kindof#snailspace#fibromyalgia#findingmyplace#mouthisonfire#diabetes#faecesinwaiting
The #bemoresnail trail in Brighton was a great reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty and creativity of this city. Did I heed the advice? Heck no! I only had 10 hours in the city and I practically ran from place to place to see everything! The snails will disappear November 18... have you visited yet?
Don’t forget, it’s #sugarawarenessweek ! @dumdumdoughnuts are a great way to get your sugar fix!
Why Snails? This is Jonquil, she is given out each week to one lucky child as a reward. You will be awared for showing the best focus, use of voice or creativity in a lesson. When you recieve the snail please take her on an adventure and show us by sending us a photo!
Jonquil is part of our work with #Snailspace , raising money for the Martlets and encouraging us all to #GoSlow this autumn and live for the moment
The time has nearly come for Saffron and the other @snailspacebh snails to say goodbye to the streets of Brighton! 😭 But you still have to this Sunday 18th November to go and meet her, yay! 😊 🐌 #bemoresnail . Here’s a Repost from @pheonixdreams which we love very much! 💖
So the suspended ceiling came down in the kitchen today ready for new - thankfully I was out and escaped all the dust and noise 😅 otherwise though it’s not as if much has happened yesterday or today and it’s really made me feel frustrated and impatient 😤!! Feels like either all a go and positively on track or snails pace and no completion in site *sigh*. There’s just so much to do every where - in fact this picture pretty much sums it up .... things everywhere, looking a right mess, a few things working but others not 😩 Needing to channel all my positive mental attitude at the minute ...... we ordered the children’s beds last night 😊 1 bed with slide for Matthew ✅ 1 loft bed with space for a sofa bed for sleepovers for Hannah ✅ Just need carpets and a door and they can be put up ready for moving into their very own bedrooms for Christmas🤞🏻 #neverendingrenovation#snailspace#buildingthedream#bungalowtohouse
Brighton is one of my favourite places to visit. In fact if I didn’t live in London I’d like to live there. Such a lovely place with top shopping, amazing food and plenty to see. The Grand on the beachfront always looks grand and the multi-coloured beach huts provide fab photo opps. Currently the town is also peppered with super-cute snails. Another reason to visit. #lovebrighton#travelwriter#brighton
We went to say goodbye to our snail #spinthesnail sponsored by the lovely @visit.brighton in the wild on Sunday morning. Sad times! It won’t be long before they are all together again and then finally auctioned off for the wonderful @martletshospice @snailspacebh @wildinart #bemoresnail#snailspace#brighton#brightonsnailtrail
If this one sleeps well tonight we are going on a snail hunt in the morning! I’ve two special snails still to meet, though I have driven past them many times! Time to slow down, #bemoresnail and get out the car. Not sure her magnifying glass skills are up to the job though! 😂 #snailhunt#snailspace#brighton
I know that 90 sales is a small achievement compared to some on here who are achieving marvellous things, but for this humble girl, I'm feeling overjoyed. Living with a serious chronic illness is not exactly a help when it comes to running a small business (even if it is very small!) and I fight battles that not many people know about. There are not just the physical challenges but mental ones to face. That little monkey that tells you you're not good enough/well enough/worthy enough for success (whatever success looks like for you) is magnified when you're poorly, although I'm sure everyone finds those negative voices hard to ignore too. And it's oh so hard not to compare myself to others. I have to remind myself I'm on a different path and that taking tiny steps is ok. So I will keep going at my snails pace and I think I'm fine with that 🐌👍🏻😊
