What are your favorite places to get seafood?!
🐝 Bloom & Bee
🐟 House Smoked Salmon
😋 This place was amazing! It’s located in the Post Oak hotel in uptown. Post Oak Hotel is striving to be the first 5 star hotel in Houston, and it’s absolutely beautiful there! Bloom & Bee is nice and elegant, and they have a dining area over-looking the pool. It’s great for birthday dinners, date night, company lunches, or just a casual meal with friends. Definitely recommend for great drinks and food.

Recipe and photo from our friend, the very talented: @lenaskitchenblog. This spread is what dreams are made of. Great date night in idea. Smoked salt, lemon zest and thyme salmon done on my @traegergrills. See recipe below. Also smoked some ruby red grapefruit, peaches and broccolini. A side of delicious potato salad filled with @oregonolivemill olive oil, capers, @jacobsensaltco applewood smoked salt, smoked lemon and fresh dill. I’ll SMOKED CITRUS THYME SALMON
1/2 fresh salmon
zest of 2 lemons
applewood smoked salt to taste
12 sprigs of fresh thyme
1/2 smoked lemon, juiced on top
Fresh dill for garnishing after
Turn on your @traegergrills onto smoke setting and let it heat per heating instructions for about 10 mins. Sprinkle @jacobsensaltco applewood smoked salt or any sea salt and rub it in gently on the salmon. Zest 2 lemons over the salmon, add sprigs of thyme and place on the Traeger. Smoke for 50 minutes to an hour. Turn the heat up to high and cook until salmon is done, my piece was large so it took about 15-20 minutes. Remove from Traeger and serve with a sides of your choice. #lenaskitchenblog#smokedsalmon#salmondinner#traegernation#traegergrills#smoked#whole30dinner#whole30recipes#beautifulcuisines#evoooneverything#dirantolivemill#oregonolivemill#summerdinnerparties
Anyone who knows me knows that if I eat a salad, it’s going to be darn good. This one was very DARN good! Spinach, smoke salmon, radish, apple, and cucumber. Topped with a homemade lemon dill dressing. #healthyfood#dinner#food#smokedsalmon
Another @AnthonyBourdain recommendation! @russanddaughters is apparently one of the best places to have smoked fish and bagels and we were not disappointed. We ordered a pastrami bagel, thinking we'd get beef. Instead it was "pastrami cured salmon" and it was da 💣 Could have eaten fistfuls of it!
Wish we bought some takeout before we headed to the airport 😪

🐠 Why you should go vegan for the oceans 🌊
The best way to stop supporting the rapid depletion of fished species as well as the many other marine animals who fall victim as fisheries by-catch – dolphins, whales, sharks, sea lions and sea turtles, among many others – is to eliminate seafood from your diet.
We are not just fishing the oceans to the brink of collapse, however. Human consumption of meat and other animal products is also having a devastating impact on the sea. Animal agricultural operations produce massive amounts of waste that pollute streams, rivers and the oceans, and run-off such as pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics and nutrients from operations producing crops to feed the massive number of farmed animals pollutes the water as well – and can even lead to ocean dead zones (sadly, these are exactly as they sound – areas of the ocean with no life). Methane emissions from factory farms contribute significantly to climate change and ocean acidification.
More than a third of the global catch of wild fish is ground into fishmeal and fish oil to feed farmed animals – including farmed fish! In addition, as many places around the world face water shortages and droughts, animal agriculture continues to claim a massive amount of freshwater.

My in laws visited Washington state for about 2 weeks and brought back some delicious “souvenirs”. Ground Sumatra coffee from Moka Joe, two packages of sockeye salmon (one is already prepped and ready for crackers!) and two packages of smoked pink salmon. The mustard, a deliciously sweet and spicy blend, is actually from a local store in our area. They decided to throw that in our gift bag as an additional surprise! 💛 They know me so well! 😂
The biggest piece of advice I can give, is to listen to your body. With all of these different diets our there, it can be so confusing on what you should be eating. Do what feels good for you! Now I dont meal indulge in 2 mini dove ice creams bars every night. I mean if it feels good to consume carbs in your diet, do it. If it doesn’t hurt for you to have dairy, enjoy it!- I envy you! What I’m trying to say is, with all of these different types of diets out there... do yourself a flavor (get it 🤣... ok not funny?) don’t force yourself to eat a certain way, DO and EAT what feels right! Right now, eating every 2 hours feels right to me, and eating a smoked salmon finger with avocado dusted with hemp seeds is exactly what I need right now. 🤷🏼♀️
